This fryer is amazing ideal for a small family, really quick to heat up and control the temperature, the best part is because of the oil filtering system, the oil lasts much longer and cleaning becomes realy realy easy, well recommended buy this product with confidence as it delivers what it says on the box

I worried that this would do what a lot of deep fat friers do, and drizzle oil down the outside of the body of the frier, making it messy and a royal pain to clean, but this one came as a pleasant surprise, it doesn’t do that. It comes with a built in way to drain change and recycle the oil, which works a treat. I’d definitely recommend this model.

Compact fryer.just right for two persons.
easy clean, oil draining a doddle, but the auto drain function leaves a little spilt oil. no big problem though.
cooking instructions a bit hit or miss, but i fried flour coated chicken wings for shorter time than instructed, crispy coating moist meat and not greasy.

    Very good fryer.
Fast cooking, no pressure for the fryer.
It holds more food. You can cook easily for family of 6 or 8 people. Easy to clean. You can take all the parts and put them in to the dishwasher, apart from the heating element.
When you clean your fryer drain the oil in to the box when it is COLD.
This is very important. Otherwise the oil might be all over your kitchen and you will end up with melted plastic container.
Furthermore don’t wash your plastic container inside the dishwasher.
It will melt and bend the plastic.
    Happy cooking.

It appears to be well made and quick to heat up, however the basket looks weak and cheap, the 2-litre oil capacity when within the min/max marks I feel gives insufficient room for even one portion for one person as that gives only about 1 cm of oil depth in the basket. I thought buying a small one for one person was what I needed I now wish I had bought one with at least 3 ltr.

Easy to use, easy to clean. Love the self filter option and nice crisp chips

Only slight issue is the oil box. It has a removable lid for cleaning inside it but it comes off when pouring oil back into the fryer if you don’t keep a firm grip of it. Made quite a mess on my first attempt but I know for next time. Would be better if it had some kind of clip lock to keep it in place.
I would still buy again though.

This machine works really well. The incorporated oil reservoir and strainer are what made me purchase it. At first, it leaked when I tried to drain the oil but it was my fault. Important! Don’t drain until the oil is stone cold. And be aware that the reservoir lid comes loose if you tilt it too much when putting the oil back into the fryer. I would call this a “feature” rather than a flaw. The frying times they propose are wildly too long and would result in burnt offerings if followed. Bit of common sense required although that doesn’t come with the fryer. Oh – and it makes EXCELLENT chips – just use Maris Piper or Arran Victory.

Brilliant Fryer easy to clean and value for money.

Also wait till fryer is cool then empty give it a good clean after you have Emptied the oil into the compartment. Once cleaned it ready to go again pull out the compartment with the oil and put it back in the fryer. You now have clean oil to use again.

Got this for my partner who is allergic to all sorts of things but really loves fried chicken and misses it, so I made it for him. I haven’t owned one before but was drawn in by the oil filtering system as it seemed less messy.

It’s very easy to use, takes about 4 litres of oil to get to the max fill line. The temperature guage is fine, it’s about 5 degrees over on comparison with my meat thermometer reading. It heats up quick and is easy to use. I really like that almost every part can go in the dishwasher, only the element itself can’t.

One word of warning, the oil box for this was the feature I’m after, always seems wasteful to not use the oil again. However, the entire top side of oil box, as you lay it flat, is detachable. This wasn’t clear in the instructions and I happened not to notice, so after it had cooled and I’d nicely filtered all the oil, 4 litres of it ended up all over the kitchen floor and sides. I think this means it would be very risky to use the oil box to store the oil for reuse (and also probably means it would oxidise and go off as not sealed).

Overall I would recommend it, but would be great if that lid clipped into place and sealed well enough to retain the oil, rather than sitting within a rim.

Best deep fat fryer I’ve ever owned, made with stainless steel so easy to keep clean. The filter works brilliantly and it drains oil overnight into the blue storage container with no need to worry about it leaking. So far I’ve filtered my oil 8 times (3 weeks usage) and the oil is still clean enough to use again. Absolutely what I’ve wanted from a fryer and more.

The design of this fryer is excellent and a well-thought out addition to any kitchen. Easy to operate, easy to use and especially to clean. I’ve checked it out on a number of difficult recipes which tend to mess up my oil, and am impressed by the filtration and store system – it works, and works well and will be much more economical for me.
One aspect to watch is not to overfill – the only indicator is a “MAX” line level and depends on the operator. If one were to be over-generous with a large oil container, it can be easily overfilled to an extent where the bottom oil storage is unable to contain it… with predictable results. Another little annoyance is the LCD timer. In my kitchen I am unable to see the display (too small and no backlight) rendering it almost useless. It does work! I never use it anyway.
All in all – a great purchase, and one I would have no hesitation in recommending. The results are excellent and repeatable.

his fryer almost went back as unsuited for purpose. temperatures stated in manual to make fries resulted in burned undercooked fries.
after some experimentation i managed to get nice fries by lowering the temperature below the lowest dial setting, somewhere between 135-145c.
taken one star for that and the fact that it will steam your kitchen well and proper through vent grills, ventilation or open doors and windows in my case is a mus

Goy to admit, I have an actifry so thought why would I really but a deep fryer, so glad I did. I convinced my self being a lover of all things Tefal its bound to have a plus and it has a few. The fact it actually filters the oil is fantastic, if your making a homemade crispy batter for a nice piece of fish then you usually end up with a bitty fryer, no! This beauty has a 3 lock system, one to fry, one to drain and then switch to last one to release the draw. You can filter the oil several times, the oil filters to the drawer and the bits stay in the basket simple. A new way to do onion rings, doughnuts, fish or more. Highly recommend. Quality food produced and easily cleaned and well made.

My family like real chips made from scratch which means I need a deep fat fryer. I have owned many over the years, all of which have done the job, but my big bug bear has always been the cleaning. No matter how hard I try, I end up replacing the fryer every year or so because the oil made it impossible to keep clean. Those days are now gone. This fryer is brilliant!! The filtering system means that the oil can be reused multiple times and because the bowl is stainless steel rather than enamel it cleans easily and beautifully. Also, the oil storage compartment raises the bowl from the work surface protecting it from heat. Yes, it’s more expensive than many, but so so worth it. My advice? Buy it!

Only one complaint the the driver that delivered this parcel, which was quite a large box, just left it on the doorstep and did not even knock, if it was not for my neighbour who saw the driver do this, it probably would have been stolen. But product was spot on.

Not had a deep fat fryer before but occasionally like to make tempura and fry doughnuts. This model caught my eye because of its ability to drain and store the oil after frying. Seems such a simple idea it’s a surprise there aren’t more but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it’s was just to set it to drain after finishing- it senses when the oil is cool enough and then drains it into a reservoir underneath the fryer. Everything then except the heating element can go into the dishwasher for cleaning and it is easy to wipe the element clean. It is then ready for use again when the oil can simply be poured from the reservoir back into the fryer.

It takes about 5-10 mins to get up to temperature which is set with a simple dial and then the food to be fried is placed into the basket and lowered into the fryer . The lid on top prevents oil splashes and has a window to see how it is cooking. Tempura was a bit messy but chips and doughnuts work really well.

In short, I think this is a well designed fryer that cooks well, and is easy to clean afterwards .

So pleased i replaced my old fryer for this tefal.
No longer have to drain and filter the oil manually which was a chore- just flick the switch and it does it for you.
Fresh oil every time for perfect chips.
( obviously replace the oil after a few uses)
The whole machine dismantles for easy cleaning.
Easy to use and gets to temperature quickly.
    Brilliant bit of kit 🙂

  31. Anonymous says:

I really like the fryer, there are no lower temperatures on the heat dial so if you want to double fry chips with an initial 110/120 deg C then you have to guess.
The filter is a great idea, you just wait until the oil is cold, flick the leaver and the oil filters into the container underneath. You can then wash out the dregs and you’re good to go again. Our oil has retained it’s cooler and smoking point far longer than our old fryer.

However, as the filter container is under the fryer it means it stands at c.40cm tall and doesn’t fit into any of our cupboards without moving the shelves and leaving us with less cupboard storage space.

The filter design is so simple that it’s a mystery as to why ALL deep fryers were not made this way. Imagine a kitchen sink with a plug that has a mesh over it to stop nasty stuff going down when you let the water out and a removable, easy to clean bowl. You switch the dial to drain oil from the main compartment to the tray beneath, the mesh stops the crud going through, clean oil goes into the tray beneath. You remove the element and take out the metal bowl full of sludge or crumbs or whatever and wash it. Put the bowl back then poor in the clean oil.
The downsides are the price compared to a traditional design (which you will get back through not having to throw away oil very often not to mention ease of use), and the fact that the timer is very basic and not all that useful.
The instruction manual is poor but that’s how it generally is with such things and it’s more intuitive to throw it out and figure it out yourself.
This fryer also works a fair bit faster than most so it will take some getting used to.
The basket is large and the unit is more than capable of catering to a family of 4. (It takes the best part of 4 litres of oil to be in the top end of the oil fill level)
Just dont pull on the drawer for the oil when you get the item as it locks into place and the locking mechanism could easily be broken by the unknowing.
The “viewing window” is about as useful as they are on any other meaning “not very”.
It loses a star from me simply because despite the fact that it works so brilliantly I can’t see how the materials used justify it being more than double the price of a traditional unit. The basic timer is not much of an issue for me.

Most notable thing about this fryer is the capacity, it can comfortably cook a proper batch of chips for a family of 4 or 5. Everything else is just a bonus, cleaning the oil is just a gimmick as the oil gets changed in the car more often than the deep fat fryer.

  34. RenaDoverdrfl says:

Excellent fryer it has a shallow basket but wide and long for great even frying. The self filter feature is brilliant although may overflow the oil storage unit. This is because the min max marking are off by 2-3 mm. Fill the fryer hold over sink or take outside fill to level drain to storage unit then what’s left in the storage unit is what you use as your new fill amount. Also note that the fryer won’t drain until its at a cool enough temperature. Timer button works on 1 minute intervals so press 5 times to set a 5 minute timer for example. I bought the Octoclean Pro fryers

    Excelle

While it’s a little more than some of the competition it’s worth the few extra pounds, easy to filter and store the oil so you can clean after every use without having to decant the oil, cleans easy as it all comes apart in seconds. Quality seems good for what it is, no idea on longevity yet.

  36. Anonymous says:

Great build quality, easy to use, straightforward thermostat for easy temperature setting. Automatic draining facility after cooking is a clever idea, but not all the oil drains out (the pan doesn’t fall down to the filter enough) and you are still left with a fair bit of oil in the bottom. The filter in the pan isn’t removable either, so you have to wash the pan (with plenty of washing up liquid!) to get the last bits out.
Overall a great fryer, with some clever features!

I have put off buying a deep fat fryer for years, worried about; smell, cleaning, ease of use, draining oil. The Tefal Oleoclean Pro satisfies all these criteria, yes there is some smell, but nowhere near as i feared, my other 3 criteria including temperature control and speed of heating up surpass any expectation. A well designed product and i would thoroughly recommend

  39. Miss Style Apothecary says:

It’s big and needs a lot of room wherever you put it.
It is much better to fry with because of the amount of room to fry in,chips and chicken for two in one go is great.
I have had no issues with filtering the oil into the reservoir, you must wait till it is cool though.
If you try to filter it before it cools it just won’t filter there must be a special sealing method that remains sealed utill cool enough.
Eight out of ten because the metal fryer has sharp edges on the lips.

  40. Anonymous says:

It is a roomy fryer, much more space than my previous Tefal one that required same amount of oil.
I obviously bought it for the filtration feature. 2 things with that..
    1. Because the bottom of the frying pan is rather flat, when you filter the oil there is always some oil left in the pan, this is a waste. Tefal could have designed the bottom like a shower tray where all oil flows towards the hole.
    2. The container for the oil has a lid. You have to tip the container to empty it back into the fryer. The weight of the oil easily pushes the lid off and oil spill disaster is happening. They could have made a secure lid with some plastic screws to keep it in place when it is not lying flat.
These are minor gripes, would still highly recommend for the excellent frying capabilities.

I already made pretty good chips, but hated having to clean up the fryer afterwards. This machine is the bees knees and I wish I had bought it sooner.

UPDATE: I have now had this fryer almost five months. I am irritated that there is no cord storage, making it cumbersome to wash the heating element. Luckily I have a sink with a bowl insert, so I can hook the element over the lip of the bowl. I am disappointed that it doesn’t drain the oil completely, and the tank is too large for my dishwasher, so washing it up is a dockyard job – anyone living near a Naval base will know that expression. Pretty good idea, lacking a little in the execution IMHO.

I had been looking at fryers for several years and the whole cleaning of it had been putting me off. This fryer is exactly what I was looking for. Big enough for a family of 5 (just). Finally I found a fryer easy to use and clean. Oil filtration system is really useful, you can filter and wash the machine each time so it stay clean and ready for next time to use. Decanting oil back is really easy. Other fryer that I used where really hard to clean and oil was splitting all around when drying to dispose off, here you have longer lasting filtered oil and a convenient way to trasfer oil into other container for disposal. Only not useful think is the digital screen time you can not really see it or heard the sound while frying, it doesn’t have any other function and battery is off really quickly and I don’t know if ot is replaceable

Having had this fryer now for six months with almost one use per week, I can safely say that this is an excellent fryer, producing really lovely chips on a consistent basis. Better still, it is extremely easy to take apart for cleaning. I see some people complaining about spillages but if they followed the instructions and did not overfill then I am sure that, like me, they wouldn’t have any such problems. Would I recommend? Without any doubt I would and in fact already have to a couple of friends and family members.

on the down side the oil storage is a cassette under the fryer so that makes it taller than other fryers but that is all I can say negatively .

2l of oil provides a reasonable depth for cooking – removing the basket to put battered items in helps prevent sticking. when you are finished just turn the control to empty and once the oil cools down it drains through a filter into the storage cassette. Simply pour back into the fryer when you next use it.

Remove oil cassette and store in a cool place and everything else goes in the dish washer apart from the element.

Its a clean way to fry and keeps the oil from getting dirty and burning but use liquid oil only .

Basic temperature control but that works fine (there is a larger one with LCD display and 3l capacity but for our small family this is big enough.

Great fryer, just one niggle really, you add 3.5l of oil in, however due to the heating element your tray sits quite high and it can struggle to cover thick items in oil. Other than that it’s stunningly good, the clean & filter function is superb. This thing is so easy to clean. Wished I’d invested in one sooner.

I don’t know how I lived without this little diamond. My old fryer was archaic compared to this. Love how it drains the oil into a built in storage container so you can clean the bowl. Bowl, basket and lid are all dishwasher safe so that’s a big plus. LOVE this fryer…..worth every penny.

Over the years I have had numerous makes and models of deep fat fryers. The main issue has always been the cleaning afterwards. With the Tefal Oleoclean Pro FR804040 this has now been eliminated. After allowing the oil to cool down, it in now just a ,matter of flipping a leaver and allowing the oil to filter into the container for future use. Cleaning the main container now takes just a few minutes of light cleaning instead of the usual 45min plus. With the oil filtered, it now lasts longer, looks cleaner and does not emit the black smoke of the older fryer. Very impressed.

Just stunning. Bloody awful instruction, it needs a quick start guide, but actually not all that complex when you get down to it.

Just so damned good. Get it while it is reduced, this is literally the best on the market and for good reason. So easy to clean, so easy to use, it filters the oil and stores it to stop it oxidizing too. Timer is a bit naff but that is the only tiny downside. Great heat range, so… it is just brilliant.

Look, as we discovered, LITERALLY, 2 minutes after ordering (because we had paused it and pressed play after ordering. We had been looking separately both spotted it and showed the other) it is exactly the one they use on Masterchef: Australia and that should tell you something.

An excellent fryer for a single person or small family. What I do like is that it all comes apart for easy cleaning unlike most other fryers I had looked at.One down point is that there can be can be a small oil leak/spillage when filtering the oil into the holding tank but overall I am very pleased with my purchase!!

I am very happy so far with this product even though i only use once a week on average….used it now for 6 months i was surprised the price has gone from 79 to over 105……..only criticism i would say is when pouring the oil into the chip fryer from the blue reservoir is that you must hold the lid to ensure it doesn’t flip open and flood oile everywhere ..happened once until i realised its best to hold it tightly

I said I would never have another deep fat fryer after I dropped my old one full of oil down the stairs when moving flat but 40 years later I bought this one. Mainly for the oil filtering system. It’s sooooo clean. Everything washes easily and the oil draining into the container below is just perfection. The oil is really clean and just stores under the fryer. Chips are so much better than oven chips and I can make fried chicken without the worry of an oil fire. It is small but is suitable for two.

Fryer’s do very little, but this does it brilliantly.
The filter function is easy = when you finish, immediately turn the heater element off, flick to filter and 2 hours later it will automatically filter the oil itself. For me, having done 3 portions of double fried chips, 6 fried chicken thighs and a portion of onion rings, this left the chicken fat and burned pieces in a nice layer at the bottom of the dish, very easy to clean out, and filled the oil tank with (mostly) clean oil. Couldn’t have asked for it to work better.

It’s a great fryer but also quite large which may not be ideal if you have limited tabletop space. Having said that it is fairly light and the oil does store in a container within the main body so it cam be placed in a cupboard and taken out when needed.
It gets to temperature fairly quickly and has a wide shallow basket for even cooking.
When you’re done just flip the switch and the oil will automatically drain into the lower container when it reaches a certain temperature.
When you go to use it next time just wipe the inside with a bit of kitchen roll to scoop up the sediments left behind after the oil was drained. Then just switch the switch pull out the oil container and pour into the fryer. Its quick, clean and easy.
    A great frye

I haven’t had a deep fat fryer for years as I absolutely hated cleaning them no matter what instructions said I could never get fat out of some nooks and crannies, however, after seeing this fryer advertised I thought about buying it for months before finally taking the plunge and oh boy am I glad I did!! Everything cooks beautifully and cleaning is a doddle, I just love how the oil filters making it fresh for each use and makes the oil last longer in my opinion. I can definitely recommend it as I am delighted with it.

First one I’ve ever owned. Exactly as described and I am very happy with it.

The filtration system is brilliant. I’ve filtered the oil a few times now and it is clean to do with no leaks at all (I’ve seen previous pics where it has all run on the counter – I can only think that they over filled it with oil (it has a max line to help you not do this)

Have cooked chips and chicken in this and they were superb.

Now just trying to stop myself getting fat from deep fried food. 🙂

I wanted to use this for a couple of months before I gave an honest opinion. All I can say is, why isn’t everyone following this design? The basics… It heats up really quickly, and accurately (I tested with an external thermometer) .

The basket… THIS is why I bought this fryer, for no the reason, the basket surface area is amazing. I was sick to death of having fryers that took up so much room and you can just about cook a chip in it. A proper sized basket for a normal family. Why can’t designers understand a very simple concept? People want to cook for their family, it needs a basket big enough to do that. This… does it! Well done.

As for the ‘filtering the oil thing’ , I thought it was a gimic, as I said, I bought this fryer for the basket size. But… It’s genius! I have saved SO much in oil. Never had a leakage issue as some reviews have mentioned, but I’ve always let the oil cool down before I hit the filter switch. When you refill.. It’s clear! I’ve just been topping it up occasionally. I should probably change it all at some point, but if it works, it works! No brown oil, no burnt smell/flavour.. Seriously, it’s a genius concept. So impressed with this fryer, wish I’d found it sooner. A little more pricey than some on the market, but, I reckon I’ll save the difference in oil.

I bought this for the Easy clean aspect. Ive also plans to get a dishwasher and this can all go in it, except for the heating element, which is fab!

First time cooking with it and I cooked Scnitzel and chips. The chips i boiled for 10 mins, left to cool, fried on 160c for 5 mins and left to cool whilst Scnitzels cooked, then 190c for 4 mins to give some “oomph”. This was also my first time cooking them this way.

It gets 5/5 for cooking ability but 4/5 for oil drainage. 95% of the oil drains out, but some (around 15ml) gets left behind. It is a bit too much to simply wipe it away with some kitchen roll. Thankfully i still had the oil bottles and popped it in there, rather than have it go down the drain.

    Simple, effective

    Really happy with purchase
easy to clean and far better than our previous one
Just make sure you unscrew the cap on the oil container to empty it !

Easy to clean. I like it because I don’t make any mess when I try to clean and wash. The oil goes to the tank oil and you can reuse it if you want.

This is the second fryer like this I have bought. The first one was the smaller version which lasted for approximately 2years before it started leaking which was not good but as it is the only fryer with the self draining system which is the only kind I would consider buying I had to get another. I bought the larger one this time and it is much better. I just hope it doesn’t start leaking again.

Love this fryer however there is one thing I didn’t. If you don’t filter the oil after every use you cannot fold the chip basket up as it makes contact with the oil. By not being able to fold the basket when not in use it adds quite a bit to the length for storage.

I know one of the selling points is you always have clean oil, however used the fryer for the first time to fry some frozen fries and afterwards the oil was still immaculately clean so didn’t bother filtering hence couldn’t drop the basket to reduce the size.

Don’t get me wrong I would by this again but thought it handy for people to know if space is an issue as it is a big fryer anyway.

Chips were perfect and has a timer on the fryer which I didn’t realise which is a plus for this also.

At last a fryer that is easy to clean with a brilliant oil filtration process that clears all frying debris each time it’s used. The basket cleans up well and has a good drainage rest for your food after frying- heats up quickly, and even though it’s a large unit, it is easy to carry around as it has sturdy side handles. Very impressed …

Good size. Drainage system works well and allows inner bowl to be cleaned of burnt debris.

Haven’t quite got the hang of using the basket handle yet to empty items on to a plate (but I am sure i will).

This is a quick review of the replacement fryer as the first one was faulty hence 4 stars.

Very easy to set up and use, the filter works very well meaning cleaning is simple. Just remember to let the oil cool first!!

    Overall very impressed

The provision of a hygienic, easy-to-use storage tank below into which the oil automatically drains as it cools after use in the fryer is a particularly convenient feature of this model. Compact for a small kitchen, simple to use and clean, this fryer produces wonderfully crisp and golden French fries, onion rings, Indian savouries etc. in no time at all. Wish we’d bought one years ago!

This is a good little fryer and will do great fish & chips for two. When filtering the oil after use the two things to remember are (1) keep the stopper on the oil tank unscrewed and (2) do not try to push the oil tank in as far as it will go – If you do this no oil leaks!

I’ve fried tempura, chicken, and chips/fries with this and I couldn’t be happier with the product. Temperature tested with other thermometers and it’s accurate.
When it comes to the filter system, at this time I have only used it twice but I honestly couldn’t be happier with the system. I filter the oil, I take the basin out and clean it by hand with plenty of soap and put it through the dishwasher also.
I would say we are a family of two (Three but one’s a dog) and the basket is correctly sized for this. Obviously you would batch cook for larger family meals. I love how easy you can clean it down and then put it away in the cupboard. Easy Peasy.
