I’ve fried tempura, chicken, and chips/fries with this and I couldn’t be happier with the product. Temperature tested with other thermometers and it’s accurate.
When it comes to the filter system, at this time I have only used it twice but I honestly couldn’t be happier with the system. I filter the oil, I take the basin out and clean it by hand with plenty of soap and put it through the dishwasher also.
I would say we are a family of two (Three but one’s a dog) and the basket is correctly sized for this. Obviously you would batch cook for larger family meals. I love how easy you can clean it down and then put it away in the cupboard. Easy Peasy.

Easy to clean, very happy with it.
A word of warning… Do not stand the plastic container upright with oil in it, the lid will fall off spilling oil everywhere. Luckily for me I was holding it over the sink so no great harm done. I was hoping to have containers of oil for different cooking needs eg oil for fish produce, another container for chips etc. After a number of weeks the unit still looks brand new.

I love the easy drain facility and the oil filter bottle, which makes it VERY EASY to clean. I would like to mention, due to a “surprise” accident, that the plastic oil bottle which catches the filtered oil for re-use has a capacity of 3 litres of oil, saving a lot of money in refills. The flat lid DOES come off for deep cleaning, if its required. It’s quite expensive for a deep fryer, but it’s worth every penny! The lid is very effective and it catches a lot of condensation, that MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM THE OIL to preserve the food quality and prevent the oil from the explosive reactions commonly associated with the old pot chip-pans of yesteryear! The food, like fresh potato chips MUST be dry before cooking, we just use kitchen roll which absorbs most of the water. We have had a great time experimenting with our fryer, and hope others have as much fun as we have.

This fryer is easy to use, but it has a very large drawback. You can only fill it to min if you want to drain oil to clean , the reservoir can only take that much oil, if you use more the oil will pour out and go every where. Basically a lie by tefal

I purchased this fryer for the very odd occasion when I wanted to deep fry something (usually potatoes for chips). I din’t tell my wife as I knew she’d object because a) they’re pretty unhealthy and b) they smell when cooking and c) they’re a pain to change the oil and keep clean.

After much research I came across this model which seemed to at least solve one of the above issues. To solve the other 2 I figured I’d really only use this every now and again as a treat and when I did, I’d use it next to an open window (we don’t have an extractor fan).

The fryer gets up to temperature quickly and has a large enough basket and deep enough oil container to be able to cook a decent amount of chips at a time. The fryer does produce quite a bit of steam but this can be minimised a bit by ensuring that you dry your potato chips as much as possible before they enter the hot oil. As long as the oil is clean & fresh though then the smell isn’t too bad.

That’s the most important thing in my opinion and where this fryer shines because ensuring that you’ve always got clean oil is the key to reducing the smell. This fryer makes it very easy as once you have finished cooking you just move the lever and the oil drains through a filter into a plastic box below where it sits ready to be used the next time around. Once the oil has cooled and drained it’s then very easy to remove the thermostat and oil container allowing you to give them a thorough clean. This only takes a couple of minutes as there’s very little to it.

Happy to report that my wife has now accepted the fryer as part of the family and actually wants me to cook her fresh chips every now and again.

Although I don’t recommend cooking lots in a deep fat fryer as they’re pretty unhealthy I can highly recommend this one for occasional use.

This is an excellent little fryer for doing chips however even for 2 people, if you were to use it to fry frozen fish or chicken, the pro version is a better choice.

If you are only using this to make fried chips for 1 or 2 people however it is perfectly fine and functionally identical to the Pro version.

The oleoclean functionality is great and means you can pack the fryer away in the box and put the oil in the fridge for next time.

Great replacement for my delonghi roto fryer that I cannot seem to get now. Good build quality and love every part is washable so no horrible build up of oil deposits. Love the filter into the oil pan so easy to use. Takes 10 mins to heat to 190 and cooks frozen chips very quickly 7 or 8 minutes rather than 15 or so on my last fryer highly recommended

Excellent deep fat frier great chips and beer battered fish. However when you drain the oil when it has cooled down and remove the blue container from the appliance it is vital you hold it exactly horizontal because the plastic lid is not secure at all and you have oil spilling everywhere. On a basic risk assessment this is highly dangerous and would easily form the basis for liability on the occasion of a claim for damages to ajoining kitchen hobs, appliances, cupboards and contents.. The manufacturers should provide sealed oil containers to all purchasers. Even tilting the machine a quarter of an inch to facilitate the draining of the last little quantity of the oil means it gushes out from the front. Not suitable for older or weak people. VERY DANGEROUS
This is a great idea for a frier but the designers will have to go back to the drawing board.

This fryer is a game changer. I always hated the mess when cleaning my old fryer, so much so that I didn’t have one for 15 years! The fact you can pop most of it in the dishwasher is the best thing about this fryer.
The filtration system is so easy to use and does the job well. I have found it best to leave the oil to cool down fully overnight otherwise it is too thin and overwhelms the container causing ‘leaks’. As a precaution I sit it on a tray and this also enables me to locate the fryer safely under my cooker hood.
So far I have used it to fry homemade donuts, vegetable pakora, puri’s, southern fried chicken and triple cooked fries. The thermostat control works perfectly too

Works a treat so far and the kids love the chips from it , I’ve not done an oil change so can’t comment on that just yet but I will report back after I’ve done a change and report on the ease of use.
Some have reported it makes your house smell like a chippy but I’ve not come across that problem myself , we do have a decent extractor in the kitchen so perhaps that helps , the old (cheaper) fryer we had was a lid off design when cooking and that most definitely did cause a smell even with the extractor.
I like the idea behind the design so we’ll see how well it’s been implemented in the coming weeks.

Works very well & also easy to clean. Makes excellent chips. Cut fairly chunky chips, boil for 5 minutes and then drain and dry. Set fryer to 170 and fry for 5 minutes. Lift up and wait for temperature to go back up to 1700 and fry again for 5 mins. . For this use Maris Piper potatoes. They come up very well

I always had a tefal actifry but then it broke (healthy option) but no way was i going to spend over 250 again, think we all got fed up with the chips just tasted boring.
Decided to go with this after doing lots of research and glad i did. Having a large family of 9 i wanted a large fryer so i didnt have to do so many portions, with this i just need to do 2 uses to feed 9 of us. The basket is very large and holds much more than you think, it did take a bit of getting used to because it is quite tall (wouldn’t be any good for short people )
I love the fact that it filters the oil and just the crappie bits are left behind to throw away.
My husband does get angry with me though because i like to filter the oil/wash the lid/wash the basket/wash the container and wash the element, sounds a lot of messing around but it is really simple and it keeps the fryer looking like new.
The chips taste fantastic, onion rings cooked in this are amazing.
I was also lucky enough to buy this at a special price of 75 so was very very happy.
    Thank you Amazon.

Really pleased with this easy to clean deep fat fryer. All except the electric control can go in the dishwasher. Cooks all types of food needing to be deep fried. chips, onion rings. Scampi. Oil gets filtered ready to reuse. Great size for the two of us. Others mentioned oil overflowing when draining. Yes, this happened to me once. I now leave the oil to get well and truly cold and then all is well. Well packed in sealed box and then again in an Amazon suitable box. Would highly recommend I am so pleased with my purchase.

Brought the product because of reviews, Amazon had dropped their price, best compact deep fryer on the market in my opinion. Sturdy design, perhaps lid could be a little deeper to fit lower onto fryer. Easy to use temperature dial and I found the instruction manual excellent to follow not just for the cooking instructions but the safety information as well.

After using deep fat fryers for a few years now the most frustrating thing for me is the difficulty to keep any of them clean, so when our last one was so clogged with oil and couldn’t be cleaned satisfactorily, I decided to look into a replacement that was hopefully easy to keep clean. After quite a bit of research I decided to try the Tefal Oleoclean Pro. It was quite a bit more expensive than the majority of others available and so it was a bit of a gamble. However, I can’t recommend this strongly enough, it is a dream to keep clean, the frying bowl, lid and basket go in the dishwasher and a wipe over the outside of the fryer keeps it clean. The oil automatically drains into a plastic box and is stored in the fryer, enabling the parts to be cleaned and therefore the oil can be used multiple times without deteriorating. The Oleoclean Pro is quite a substantial size but is very easy to move with the two side handles and fits into my kitchen cupboard comfortably. I therefore recommend this purchase.

This is a replacement for a 20+yo Tefal Deep Fat Fryer. It works brilliantly and the Auto Oil drain is a dream. It leaves the bowl empty bar crumbs, which you can then easily remove. It’s just a bit fiddly lifting out the element first, like the old one, and then looking for somewhere to put it whilst you clean the bowl.
One benifit of the Auto-drain is that the Basket also drains off oil, so needs minimal cleaning.
My reason for 4* is only that the construction is noticeably more flimsy than my old one.
    Recommended without hesitation.

This has been a superb piece of mind versus open pan frying. Having the ability to accurately temperature control the oil has been great to know that it ‘wont get too hot’ and burn the oil as well as reducing the risk of a fire.

It’s also super clean to use. If you have a dishwasher, its even better as it is all dishwasher friendly (except the electrical element).

The important thing to note, that caught me out by surprise is the drain tray. When you are pouring it back in, make sure to support it and take your time. It turns out that the drain tray splits apart so you can clean inside of it. I found this out the hard way and drowned the kitchen in oil. Even then, its still worth it.

Highly recommended if you are looking to do your own batters or having a home made ‘fakeaway’.

Out of the box this looks and feels like a quality piece of kit. I used mine for the first time last night. Despite it taking 3.5l of oil and having a large basket I was disappointed with how shallow the oil lays and therefore how little you can fit in the basket.
For context, this replaced a cheapo 2.5l fryer. The oil compartment was shorter but deeper and it was possible to fit the same amount if not more in it.
Where this unit comes into it’s own is the filtration and ease of cleaning. It is so quick and easy. For that reason alone, I love it.
Real shame you can’t fit more in the basket. I certainly doubt the claim of 6 portions being possible. For that reason I can only mark 4 stars and not the full 5.

Perfect for my family of four, easy to clean. My only thought would be that if the container that the oil drains into was made of heat resistant plastic / metal (better quality) and the hot oil could be drained into it at a higher temperature instead of having to wait 3 hours after turning it off.
I love that once the oil is drained into the drawer it stops the chip pan smell!

We like the machine very much indeed. What problem we found was when ordering it we could not find the size of the machine, it gives you the package size but not the machine size, when ours arrived it was larger then we thought it would be, it would be a great help to have the machine size so customers can plan before hand where they are going to be able to store it in the kitchen.

This has turned out to be a very reliable and easy to use fryer. The huge bonus is the extremely easy to clean feature for filtering and draining the oil. The rest of the fryer washes up extremely easily. The element can be washed with care avoiding puting the electrical component into water. Everything else is super easy. While the lid has a fine grease filter which really helps greasy steam from going onto tiles etc., I suggest placing under the cooker extractor for best results and a slightly open window to reduce cooking smells. They are not overly noticable. Great capacity, easy use basket with a drip bracket to hold the basket up. The lid is great to help deflect heat from the hot oil. The little window in the lid is a great help too.

Disadvantage is that there is no removable filter to liminate the smells, it’s built in mesh/aluminium. Advantage is it’s big, but unfortunately the element is directly under the basket!
Big container in which the oil is in but not deep enough to sit right into, just purched on the top!
Drains easily NO need for a funnel.
Have re-used my oil about 3-4 as already.

I’ve never used a deep fat fryer before and I’ve found this easy to use and to clean. The only issue is that it sometimes leaks a bit when draining the oil despite the fact that the oil is cool and the fryer is level. I think it might leak when there isn’t much debris in the oil, so it flows out at a faster rate.

Found that this is easy to use and clean, I like how the oil is stored in the bottom of the fryer so that it lasts longer and you can then clean the other items without worrying about the oil as it is stored in the bottom of the fryer. The handle will fold over into the basket to keep it tidy

    Easy to clea

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIn a world of namby pamby “woke” cry babies and thought police Karens, its the little things in life that get you through. Real chips are one of them.

Oven chips are a crime against potatoes…
Air fryers can jog on. Who are they kidding with their “healthy alternative” rubbish…
The guy in the chippy looks like he hasn’t had a bath in weeks and I would trust him to bath my chips in oil, let alone my kids…

Lets face it. The only way to get a good chip is to fry it and this bad boy will do the job for you.

    Good points are:
    * The oil filtration system works well and keeps the oil going for longer, and reduces the bad taste you get after a few fries
    * Quick to get to temperature vs other fryers Ive had
    * Relatively easy to clean

    Bad Points:
    * Not dishwasher safe. The box says yes. A little insert says no. I’ve not risked it.
    * The basket is an odd shape and a bit unwieldy for the post cook shakedown.
    * Its also too shallow. Its not a massive problem for chips or even flat fish, but fried chicken needs rotating and sits on the bottom where it can get overly greasy.

Overall its a better than average deep fat fryer and results are 100x better than any oven chip.

11/10. Would tell my wifes friend to “shut her stupid mouth” again no bother if she tried to talk a lot of pish about “cholesterol” whilst trash talking our deep fat fryer when her own little gargoyle is a vegan and could give Jabba the Hut a run for his money.

Have had this deep fat fryer a little while now and so far very pleased with it. We are a family of six with hearty appetites. I do two batches of chips as one basket is not quite enough for six of us. Which is not a problem as they only take ten minutes to cook so easy to keep the first lot warm for a short while in the oven. My son recently made doughnuts which were received well by the rest of the family.
I really like the oil storage box which means less mess emptying and cleaning and keeps smells to a minimum. Once it’s cool and drained the pan and basket go in the dishwasher so easy to clean. Overall would recommend.

  29. Anonymous says:

Solves the problem of keeping oil clean and using for longer. Also keeping the pan, basket and cover with filter clean and avoiding oil residue build up because you can just put them all in the dishwasher. The only negatives found: instructions should emphasise not to exceed MAX mark as excess oil will overflow the lower container and when handling that container some care is needed as there is no seal where oil drains from pan and oil can spill.

It works really well. It’s a little bigger than I expected as in overall size but the coverage and depth for frying is quite shallow which surprised me a little. You have to put a lot of oil into it but only use half of it. You’re heating up twice as much oil as you use. It seems a very inefficient way of deep frying. I haven’t needed to clean the oil yet so can’t comment on how easy it is to clean.

I read some reviews on here that complained about dropping oil. I’ve used this item 4 times so far and drained the oil out every time without any dripping oil. Once oil is drained clean into the oil container, leaving the bits in the tank, all the parts can be easily taken apart and cleaned. The bits that come off when frying drop to below the heating element so don’t burn like with conventional deep fat fryers. We leave the oil in the container until it’s ready use again and it really is like fresh every time. We went for the compact version because of small footprint but only really has enough capacity for 2 and a half portions of chips. We’ve made frozen and fresh home made chips and scampi and very happy with results.

This fryer has worked very well for me and I love the fact it is so easy to clean and the oil is filtered and stored in the container after each use. I saw on some reviews that people had reported leaks of oil whilst draining the oil into the storage reservoir. I have not had that problem but I do wait until the oil is cooled before opening the valve. The fryer is quite large and will take up a lot of room in a cupboard or on the worktop – measure first before buying.

First off I bought this for the ease of cleaning and filtration system and for that its great. In use however I have found a few little things while not deal breakers certainly should be noted. I will still give it 5 stars but only as 4 seems a bit mean so in theory its a 4.5 star rating.
The depth of oil is (when filled to a few mm below maximum) a little shallow for thicker cuts of battered fish so you may need to turn them over to stop them sticking to the basket and to cook properly – although its fine for chips and probably most normal things you would deep fry as the basket is nice and wide so food can spread out a bit more. If you fill it to about 1 or 2mm below maximum the oil container cannot take it all when filtering so you may need to use a small jug to decant any excess oil out making the process a bit fiddly and even with it more or less in between the marks it can still leave a small amount in the bowl. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours for the oil to cool down enough to filter and then allow you to take it apart to wipe the element and wash the bowl and basket etc. I use the dishwasher to clean it (note with ours that an economy wash wont quite clean the bowl as well as a standard wash) But I usually have to give it an extra wipe when it comes out as sunflower oil can stain the bowl a bit (we have to use sunflower oil due to an allergy to rapeseed oil)
Overall it heats up fairly quickly (7 to 8 minutes) cooks well and the fact most of it can go in the dishwasher a great help. Be aware it is a fairly large unit (there is a smaller one available) and with the weight of the oil can be heavy enough to move about for storage – and when frying the sides do get hot (obviously!) so as with all deep fryers should never be left unattended when in use.
Summing up a great machine and recommended.

Our old 3l fryer was past it’s best and didn’t really do a big enough batch of chips for the 6 of us in 1 go. When looking for a replacement we liked the look of this one. It has a wider but shallower basket, and an additional 500ml capacity, at 3.5l.
It comfortably cooks enough, and if you follow the temperature guides on the packaging of what you’re cooking, gives great results.
Never have had any trouble with oil leaking out when filtering, I fill it up to the max and top up as required, so it’s normally well over 3 litres of oil that’s being filtered.
Replacing the oil is easy as well, as you simply filter, clean then fill with new oil. Old oil is in the bottom and the
new bottles just used to fill can be used to dispose of the old oil easily.
Even the oil storage container in the bottom can be opened to be cleaned thoroughly.
My only concern at the time was the price, but now, after 4 weeks of use, I’d say its worth it.

Just AWESOME. Can’t rate it highly enough. I don’t know why people are complaining about this! I normally buy cheap deep fat fryers and throw them away after a few months as I can’t deal with the grime and smell from them, this takes it to another level of making frying easy. I can’t praise this highly enough. Yeah, I agree with people that the frame is thin sheet metal, but it’s all designed to come apart for cleaning. When it comes to cleaning, it’s literally 4 parts. That’s it. Most of it can go in the dishwasher. The filter system is excellent, and the manual stresses that the oil must be cool beforehand, people who are saying this leaks are obviously switching it to filter mode when it’s too hot – read the instructions! Its so nice having freshly filtered oil every time you want to have fried food. I really wish I’d of bought the bigger one now, the advertised size is the BOX size and not the actual fryer. This packs away neatly in my cupboards, but I do have enormous larder cupboards in my kitchen, don’t want the neighbours seeing my appliances on the kitchen side, so very common. You won’t regret buying this fryer. Tefal doesn’t fail again. I’ve asked my husband to update this review if I have a coronary after too much fried food, lol.

I bought the previous model in 2007 and it was brilliant but was getting tired, so we bought the latest model. All the important bits go in the DW so there is no yellow residue on the outside and the oil is filtered so it remains clean. A brilliant piece of kit. However, be aware that if you follow the cooking instructions for chips, they are incorrect.

From experience, use good spuds, Roosters or Maris Pipers. 1st cook at 160 for 5 minutes, remove from the fryer. 2nd at 190 for 3 minutes. Your chips will be brown and crispy…..perfect!

    Enjoy!

I have had it for 1 month and made chips which are amazing, home made scotch eggs, amazing. Very easy to clean. Once you have finished cooking just switch off and put in auto clean and once the oil has cooled, it drains into below tank, which then allows to wipe out the bits with kitchen roll.

Been using this product for some months now and so far it’s been brilliant.

Food always nice and crispy, especially home made battered cod, pancake rolls, chips etc. and very easy to clean afterwards. The oil filter and storage have been 100% reliable so far and zero leakage.

The cooking smell does linger after using but that’s because the oil needs to cool before filtering and storing. But once stored and the easily removal basket, pan etc are washed and cleaned and you let the kitchen air there are no ongoing used oil smell.

    YES highly recommended purchase.

I have to say this is by far the best fryer I have owned…the fryer by far out weighs the cost. No smells …easy to clean …easy to use. Quite large so you will need space however saying that if you drain the oil after each use you will have no smell in the kitchen. The fryer is incredibly easy to clean and minimal waste with oil. Do not fill over the max line as the oil box will over fill. Heats within mins. Handy timer . Would def recommend.

Very good product easy to clean and dismantle ! The only word of warning which has been said in other reviews if you switch to the automatic filtering System on when the oil is hot It has a tendency to leak onto the counter !But what may be a good tip is to let the oil cool completely as the oil is thicker and runs more slowly back into the container. When the oil is hot it runs very quickly through the filter mesh and probably overwhelms the point at which it drains into the container?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe patented oil filter mechanism allows some of the oil to spill on the working surface. Initially I thought I had not pushed the collecting tray far enough in. My fault. Next time II was very careful in following the instructions. It happened again, the work surface was oily with about one tablespoon of oil. Probably my fault. I cleaned the fryer planning to return the fryer but thought again. I decided to fill the fryer with water to see if the leakage occurred. It didn’t so the mechanism was not faulty. Again it was my fault but next time I used the fryer with oil the filtered oil spilled over the work surface. Failing to understand what was wrong I decided to put a tray under the fryer when I needed to filter the oil. I had thrown away the packaging after the water test so I didn’t return the fryer.

We wanted to have a deep fat fryer, and after reading a lot of reviews, we bought this one.
The fryer itself is great for two to three people for something like chips. The temperature remains stable when cooking cool items, so the heater is strong enough.
The draining hook works well for the hot items after cooking.
The genius of the design is the cleaning. Rotate the dial to “drain”, and when the oil has cooled enough it filters out of the main pan into the lower tank ready for reuse.
You have to wipe the heating element and the lid (You cant put either in the dishwasher). You then wipe out the bowl and put it in the dishwasher. So simple, and the oil can be reused 7/8 times (depending what you are cooking)
Altogether a great design with great features.

I bought this for my husband to make chips, onion rings and donuts in. He’s thrilled with it. He finds it easy to use and to clean and says it gives very good results. He loves chips, as do our children, so he experimented a bit with the temperature settings to get the crispiest chips. We did try making our own chips, but in the end found it easier to just buy a bag of frozen chips to shove in there. We haven’t got round to trying doughnuts yet, but that’s next on the list. It does chips, onions rings, hash browns, croquettes and fish fingers very well. Definitely pleased with our purchase.

great fryer, simple temperature control and fries chip to perfection, the oil filter system is great too; once finished cooking switch off and put away once cool to safely handle, put front switch to drain and leave it to do it’s thing, if overnight it’ll drain clean almost every drop for reuse next time, with just the frying bowl to clean 🙂 best fryer ever would highly recommend, also the capacity is much better than you’d think from photos, does our family easily 🙂

This is fantastic cooks like a dream and you don’t have to wait around for the oil to cool as it does all that for you and filters the oil as well. Then all you have to do is wash it out and put the clean oil back in the pan, most bits are dishwasher friendly. I don’t know how I managed with my old one would not be with out this.
Only down side I can see is it needs a better filter in the lid a carbon one would be great but thats i

I used to have a deep fat fryer years ago and decided on this one because of the easy clean facility and the brand. I’ve only used this once, not a great experience. Following their guidelines for temperature and heat settings my chips came out very dark brown not the lovely crispy golden ones I had envisaged. It takes 3 hours to cool enough to empty to clean and when removing the parts for washing I cut my finger on very sharp metal on the machine. My old machine had a method of raising the basket without removing the lid, not so with this one. All in all I wouldn’t recommend and it’s probably one of those buys that will sit in the cupboard for a few years before going to the charity shop.

This is our second Tefal – the first smaller one leaked and was sent back for refund. This one works a dream and is large enough to fry enough chips fo 3 people at once. Simple to use. My one word of waring is that the oil container comes apart (you can remove the lid) which I was unaware of. So when I poured the oil out of the container into the fryer the lid came off and 2L of oil went everywhere

I love this deep fat Fryer – I bought it to replace an old small fryer – it’s large enough to cook chips for the whole family in one go, the ability to drain the oil and filter out the bits of burnt food is brilliant. The fact you can painlessly dismantle and put in the dishwasher (But not the lid) makes it so easy to keep it properly clean, which makes it easier to store and stops it being smelly, the permanent filter is great too (no faffing about buying and changing The filter).

The big basket is great – I tend to use the fryer for home cooked chips more than anything else – and whilst my chips are always pretty good – they were pronounced to be amazing with this fryer!

The handles on the side are great for moving it because this is a sizeable piece of equipment – with the handles it is easy and feels very safe (also the oil is safely stored in the box so no danger if spilling)

I am very happy with my purchase 10/10.

This deep fat fryer is just a dream. I was missing chipS from the chip shop during lockdown so bought this deep fat fryer..what a dream this machine is…..simply great. Minimum temperature setting is 140…maximum 190, it heats up quickly, It has a light indicator….the capability of draining and filtering the oil is superb and allows for easy cleaning after each use. I can happily boast at producing delicious chips….( only once a week, for the sake of waist lines!)…and even produced some crisps last week….if you are looking for a good deep fat fryer I’d highly recommend this one.

Very happy with mine. It has two main benefits over “normal” fryers

1st, it can automatically filter the oil after each use extending the useful life of the oil.

2nd, it is very easy to clean, it all (apart from the heating element) goes in the dishwasher and because the oil is stored in a separate container you don’t make a mess of the kitchen draining or decanting the used oil.

One word of warning, as I found out the hard way, the oil container has a removable lid, which may not be securely fitted from the factory.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI highly recommend this product, it’s feature set takes away most of the pain points of using deep fat fryers.
    – The automatic oil filtration system is genius, it filters the oil for you so the sludge can be easily removed and the oil is drained into a sealed tank which means it doesn’t smell and won’t spill.
    – The parts are removable and dishwasher safe (except the heating element, but you just wipe that down with a cloth), so it’s really easy to clean the main tank and basket post using it.
    – The size is great for what I need (cooking up things like wings for a few friends), I’d advise getting the bigger Oleoclean Pro over the Oleoclean compact, just to reduce batches.

Very impressed with every part of this fryer (which is something I never thought I’d say about a fryer). Great job Tefal.

Given you’ll be deep frying things I highly recommend you buy the “Wings and Things” book by Ben Ford & David Turofsky, every recipe I’ve tried is top notch and the perfect use of your fryer.

If your thinking it’s a bit expensive, and is it worth it….yes yes yes! This is probably the best item I have purchased. After you finished your cooking flip the leaver over to drain and just leave it. When the oil is at the correct temperature it drains into the storage box. The element slides up allowing you to easily clean the tank, basket and lid. Leave the oil in the storage box keeps it clean and smells down. When you next want to use it slide out the box remove the screw plug and poor in the oil. The storage box can be washed clean easily as well. All round BRILLIANT

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEverything mentioned in the other reviews is correct. It appears to be a great machine.
    HOWEVER:
What do you do when you first get a machine? You unbox it, read the safety booklet, read the use manual a do the “Before first Use section. (see picture 1).
I did this, loaded all of the components in the dishwasher and cleaned them.
Then I found a single piece of afterthought paper in the box (Pictre 2).
“Contrary to what is written in the instruction (IFU) or in the packaging the lid cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher……”
I can’t see any damage after one wash, however, if you think you are buying a fully dish-washable machine, you are not.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis fryer is the best thing ever temperature controls easy enough to use compact but still has great frying space for good sized portions. I opted for this model due to the filtration system it’s the best feature and makes the fryer super easy to clean. A lot of reviews mention oil spilling onto the worktops. I did not have this issue as I read the instructions you need to filter the oil when it’s cool at least 2 hours or more after use as when oil is warm it expands in volume so don’t think the bad reviews are justified in my opinion.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDuring lockdown we have begun making things like somosas and onion bhajias but have not owned a deep fat fryer for years, mainly due to the fact that they quickly became gunged up with oil and were difficult to clean. Heating oil in an open pan is dangerous. This one ticks all the boxes. Temperature control, filtered oil and easy to clean. It is absolutely brilliant. I read some of the reviews about oil leaking from the reservoir because of over-filling and decided the best bet was to fill the reservoir first and then pour it into the fryer – zero chance of it overflowing! Tip – the price fluctuates wildly. I bought mine at 99.99 then saw it a day later at 60.00 (managed to cancel/reorder) but at other times it has been as high as 169.99!

Husband has used the fryer three times and twice oil leaked out the bottom when it filtered. This was even when the oil had been left to cool for two hours. Having read all the helpful Q & A section, we realised that if you fill the fryer to max line (2 litres) by the time the oil has been heated it takes up more room because of expansion. Next time we will put less than 2 litres.
Flavour of chips – I personally didn’t like them that much, husband didn’t mind them. It depends on the oil used I suppose. Scampi and battered fish tasted nice.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersRecently received this fryer and have used it once so far and run a filter cycle. It’s spacious and easy to use. Will have to get used to temperature and cooking times but that’s normal with a new appliance. Here’s some very useful and pertinent information that I had a great deal of trouble finding out before I bought this item:
Actual size of the fryer in cm (maximum measurements including handles, etc): 35H x 42D x 29W
Actual size of the basket in cm (not including handle): 9H x 26D x 20W
Hope this is useful to people, I know it was important for me – how could you know if a frozen fish fillet will fit in it without this information??

I bought this fryer to replace my old one which I had owned for years, having looked at loads of fryers on Amazon and read loads of reviews I decided to go for the Tefal Oleoclean Pro Fryer, (5 Portions), 3.5 Litre, 2300 W..
Having looked at the instructions, this I found to be very straight forward, on the front of the fryer is three labels telling you what does what…
My fist time of use was to do some Chips, after filling it with my oil of choice (vegetable oil) I put the chipped potato’s in the wide basket and now this has to be the best chips I’ve ever cooked in a fryer and I don’t know if my old one (which had a small basket) was not working properly or what.
The large basket I think made a great difference to the foods quality, the chips didn’t clump all together.
I’ve used the drainer and found this to be so simple and useful to use (just make sure the oil is cold before draining into to plastic base).
It’s easy to remove and clean out any debris in the bottom of the fryer after you’ve drained the oil, very simple to return the clean oil back into the fryer. It’s that simple!
Overall it’s very easy to use and to clean and most of all the food taste great….

This Fryer is excellent – large chip pan (up to 5 portions) – the oil filtering and storage is great, taking away all lingering odours. You start fresh with clean oil from the filtered bottom reserve when you use it the next time!
To clean this Fryer is very easy and simple, everything detaches/comes out and most items can go in the dishwasher if you wish, I have washed by hand so far, but after more use I will put the main items in the dishwasher to really freshen up if necessary.
We are so pleased with this and have never had such good crispy chips and we never have to fry a second batch!

Money well spend, so far one of the finest electric kitchen cooking machine for deep frying ever designed. Oil filter process by gravity separation works perfect. 2300W of heating element for only 3.5 liter of oil is good match to keep with changing oil temperature as you add freezing processed foods (veg or non veg). It may appear huge on the counter as compared to others – for the reasons like it has onboard storage tank to recover filtered oil upon completion of cooking cycle – so, that makes it look almost twice bigger. But, its a trade-off against the benefits of oil filteration which second to none. I have two of these one for veg and one for non-veg cooking to not to spoil the oil and infuse the varying smell into cooking.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have been meaning to buy a deep fat fryer for some time now and came across the Oleclean Pro which I decided to buy based on the oil filtration system which allows the pan, basket and lid to be removed and cleaned in the dishwasher after each time the fryer is used. I made chunky chips and onion rings last night which both cooked really well and the image shows the spotlessly clean fryer today with the oil drained into the container. As the oil is held in the sealed container at the base of the fryer, the oil will not spill and makes moving it from the cupboard to the worktop a whole lot easier. Overall I am highly impressed with this fryer and suggest it is worth the money.

I didn’t want the mess of a chip pot, so thought I’d go for a Tefal Oleoclean Pro Fryer, (5 Portions), 3.5 Litre, 2300 W after reading reviews. I’ve tried groundnut and rapeseed oil. Both worked fine and you can slightly taste the difference when frying. So have a go at testing different oil.

Cons: The timer lit up when I first switched it on. Second time the timer never came back on and has never came on since. I’ve tried to reset it and I’ve used the machine around a dozen times. Still no timer. I don’t use the timer though as I prefer to watch the food but for those who are stuck ion a timer check it when you buy.

    Pros:
Makes fabulous chips, (I use the https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PMBMDCL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1chicken which chops two different sizes …such a time saver and provides consistancy) and I’ve tried some spring rolls and some veg in tempura batter. All worked out great.

It drains the oil into a box in the bottom so easy for storing and filters it so it’s clean each time you use it. The parts go in a dishwasher if you have one (NOT THE FILAMENT) so cleaning is easy.

Not the cheapest but if you use regularly it’s worth it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’d had enough of soggy AGA-baked oven chips. This device took me to chip heaven.

The Oleoclean makes *great* chips, in big portions (plenty for me and two teenage sons, and enough left over for my wife to nibble; it’s survival of the …erm… fittest at our house when it comes to deep-fried food). It takes under 10 minutes to cook frozen chips to perfection. After about a dozen fry-ups, drain the oil and bung the fryer in the dishwasher.

I see the Oleoclean gets a few negative reviews for oil leakage. If you fill it near the ‘Max’ mark, the trick is to scoop or ladle out about a quarter of the oil before using the auto-filter device. I followed this tip from another Amazon reviewer and it has not leaked at all.

Also, a 1-2cm prop under the rear, tilting the fryer forward, helps make draining faster and more efficient.

Only negative point? The timer is too quiet to be useful, and does not auto switch-off fryer. But I would never leave the room while using any deep-fat device. Oh, and unless you use this under an extractor fan, your house will smell like a chippy.

    A small price to pay…

We purchased the compact fryer on 03 July 19 and used it many times since.
It is perfect in every way.
Heating and temperature control works fantastically.
Produces excellent chips with no sogginess and they taste so good.
The oil is drained out of the fryer into a plastic tank in the bottom cavity, once cooled obviously, and remains there until next fry up.
The basin used for frying is simple to clean and nothing sticks or burns on.
We are fussy buyers but we cannot fault this fryer.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersLove this item. It is now essential in our kitchen. The main reason we love it so much, it’s because the large capacity, was able to 6 thighs/drum stick and still space for one or two. The ability to set the temperature and timer is fantastic. Once you learn the correct temperature and timer for different meals, it’s great. So it is essential to learn your product. The instruction in the booklet is a good indicator but we found it wasn’t as accurate. It states (commenting from memory), the chicken needed 16 minutes a set temperature (forgot). We set it and the chicken was dark brown. Over cooked. Same result with the chips. Once you figure out the best timer for it, it gives you great results. The cleaning is another great feature. Very simple and quick (compared to others). The cleaning was the main reason I went for it.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersAs an obsessively clean individual when it comes to food prep and hygiene, I have been on a decade long search for the ideal fryer.

Normally, the parts are too difficult to wash, fiddly too in the sink. I detest handwashing oily crockery. Opting to throw them at the mercy of the dishwasher.
But alas, they’re not all worthy of the confinement of the dishwasher and some are practically impossible to dismantle each time.

As a result I found myself increasingly discarding my fryers after a year or two of use. I’m quite embarrassed to admit this.

This little (actually, not so little) fryer was my light at the end of the tunnel. Its solid and robust with quality parts. As a lover of technology, it checked all the boxes. It seems as though they thought of everything. ..But did they?

    The best part?
It totally dismantled, which means a hygeine-nut like me can take it apart after each and every use. With EASE and very RAPIDLY!

The fryer has a built in oil filtration tank directly below it, so that one can filter the entire contents of the fryer tank and keep the used oil in a clean tank for any further use or bottled up and discarded in household waste.

Thus, all parts, including the oil holding container (post-filtration) can be washed in the dishwasher.
Everything, except obviously the heating element attached to the mains which can be wiped with a damp cloth.

The only downside I’ve noticed is that, there are a couple of small aluminium parts around the filter, which dont take kindly to being washed in this manner. This became evident over time.
Tefal though, were very helpful and replaced the problem part. I can see this lasting a number of years.

    What an absolute unit!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis is a really good fryer and ideal for just 2 portions. If I didn’t mind the extra cost of oil and electricity I would have gone for the larger model but that would just be extravagant.

The one thing that bugs me most about deep fat fryers is that they get quite dirty no matter how much effort you put into cleaning them. I’ve had this fryer for quite a few months now and it is still spotless even after many uses. Don’t be fooled by reviews that complain about even having to change the oil although there is a filter to clean it. The filter works very well and you don’t have to worry about the burnt detritus of a long gone meal being attached to you chips. The reason to change the oil is that its properties change and becomes slightly more carcinogenic as it gets older. No filter would be able to do anything about that.

If you want a good fryer that is ultra easy to keep clean (I almost enjoy keeping it clean – a job I dreaded with my old fryer) and ideal for just one or two people, this is it.

Given the price commitment of this chip pan, I thought I would write a detailed review. I needed a chip pan that feeds 5 adults. It does just that. But I was also looking for one that doesn’t set off my smoke alarm, and it does just that!
So, what I like is its size; Its ability to cook a large quantity of chips, although it is then a large machine. My previous chip pan was a double one, so although this one is large it is tall rather than wide, which I like. Also, the handle folds inside, so I find it quite compact actually. It does have sharp edges like someone mentioned in a previous review, but if you use the handles on it, then you don’t come into contact with the sharp edges, except when dismantling to put in the dish washer.
I also like its cleanliness; you can put the parts in the dishwasher once you have drained the oil. I notice in previous reviews that people have said the tank for saving oil overflows, but I did not find that, although I only drain the oil after 4 -5 uses, so its not at the maximum. I also love that the handle for the tray slots inside the pan, not over the edge so no oil spills! You can also cook with the lid on, so it reduces splashes too.
What I don’t like is the fact that I bought it because I thought it had a filter, my old one doesn’t, and I thought that would stop my smoke alarm going off. The filter is actually a metal mesh, not really a filter. So, the alarm does go off, and it does make the house smell of chips, although not as much as my old one did, because at least you can put the lid on. So, despite this I still prefer it.
It does get hot on the outside, but not to the extend of a burn unless there was prolonged contact.
I’ve given 5 stars, but really I would give it 4.5!

I love the self-filtering on this fryer. Just flick a switch and leave it. It is so easy to clean. Everything goes in the dishwasher apart from the heating element module, which is easy to wash by hand. The handle on the basket folds up for easy storage, although not if there is still oil in the fryer. I store my oil in the blue filtration tub, so the fryer is clean and dry. I have had perfect results every time. The lid ensures no spitting, and the window gives a good view on the food being fried. It is somewhat large to store, but I wanted a large capacity fryer. It easily fries chips for all the family.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersExcellent product that makes filtering of oil and cleaning so easy without any mess. I put around 2.5 litre of oil in and there is still about 30% of spare capacity in the oil box after filtration, no leakage issue at all. The filtered oil is clear and clean. All food crumbs are left in the frying bowl, which is ready to be put into the dishwasher for cleaning. Absolutely no hassle.

    Excellent deep fryer, no mess!

Having changed from a previous fryer to oven chips I decided that something was missing from my chips, so I decided to return to a fryer. Which one was the next question, having decided on this one I placed my order, it arrived quickly. Now I know what was missing from oven chips! the chips are now crispy on the outside but soft on the inside.
It is great that at the end of frying chips to let the oil cool down then switch a switch to drain and filter the oil into a holding tank underneath the fryer, no smells no mess and the bowl can be washed clean easily, then when you want to fry again just empty the filtered oil back from the holding tank into the fryer. My only gripe is that the flex from the fryer to the plug is not very long, so to use the fryer it has to be placed near to a plug, otherwise an excellent piece of kit.

Golden Review Award: 148 From Our UsersI saw this fryer a while ago, but it was only available in a bigger version, but as soon as I saw they’d made a smaller version I was determined to get one. It’s not the smallest fryer, but it doesn’t seem too big on the side, and the handle can be folded back into the basket when not in use.
I can honestly say the draining feature is the reason I bought it. I’ve had other fryers and kept using the oil longer than I should, with all the burnt bits in, because it was so much hassle to try to clean it out. This is brilliant. As soon as I see any bits in the bottom I switch it to drain and walk away, and when I come back later I can just remove the metal oil basket and wash all the bits out. Then I leave the oil in the bottom box until the next time when I just unscrew the small plug an pop the oil back in. I have done chips, croquettes, onion rings and more and everything cooks perfectly. I can’t recommend this enough.

No fuss draining is the best thing EVER!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFryer is good quality and the oil draining is an excellent idea and works well. Basket size (larger version) is more than enough for us, a family of 4. It makes enough chips in one session..
The only downside (which is not related to the product at all) is, I forgot just how smelly the kitchen gets frying food… Hate the smell… On the plus side, the fryer is super easy to break apart and stick in the dish washer and at the same time, I’ve moved the filtered oil into a spare fridge in the garage…

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat product. Makes it easy to store the used oil afterwards. Doesn’t leak. Also it can be washed in the dishwasher and this makes it easy to maintain. Only downside is the size. We are a family of 4 and so have to cook in batches. I probably should have gone for the bigger size but the one I have is fine overall otherwise it’s a lot more oil that is needed.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersAfter doing a bit of research into electric deep fat fryers this one came out on top for quality build, design and ease of use. I placed my order and had it delivered within a few days. It’s tall but slimline and is mainly stainless steel, the compact one holds two litres of oil, I used Crisp and Dry which comes in a two litre bottle. It doesn’t have the built in timer like it’s big brother but it’s the same design otherwise. It reaches temperatures quickly when the red light goes off. I cooked homemade chips in it, twice cooked, it worked perfectly and the chips tasted great, I put three good size potatoes in, it didn’t over fill or drop the temperature. I then tried frying my own doughnuts, this too worked quickly and well. The draining part is simple to do, I had no leaks or drips. When I lifted out the bowl to put in the dishwasher I put a piece of kitchen towel underneath where the oil had gone through. I’m going to try tempura vegetables this week, I’m impressed by the design and ease of cleaning. It does let out quite a bit of steam when I cooked my chips from fresh potatoes (I made sure they were dry after letting them soak using a tea towel to dry them) but I put it on my hob under the oven extractor which definitely helps.

So much better than my old deep fat fryer.

Great fryer I would just use for chips.Unless your happy too clean greasy batter pieces out of the cooking box after oil drain. It does filter the oil for reuse however if you fried for instants copycat kfc chicken which I did. Then the following morning drained cleaned etc then used the oil again as recommended this made the chips that I cooked the following day pretty horrible.Thw bottom line is if you want too fry anything with batter best too change oil after. Its has good amount of cooking space. However be prepared when you change the oil there’s enough oil too fill a small bucket then you somehow have Togo to the rubbish tip and find a container you can throw it in.Overall a very good pro fryer.Filtratiom could be much better to take any impurities out of the oil.My advice is use for chips and occasionally some battered prawns cod or chicken but beware don’t re-use the oil after cooking any of those items.Done double cooked chips easy will try triple cooked but bit more messing around with chilling and cooking multiple times.!!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a brilliant deep fat fryer, It cooks home made chips so quickly and they’re crispy and delicious. I love the oil filtering system, It’s easy to use and then you can wash all the parts, ( Except the electrical part ) obviously. No more having to manually drain and filter the oil, No mess, Does not leak oil unless you have overfilled it in the first place. I’ve only had it a few days so once I’ve made other food I’ll update my review. But as of now I highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersBest fryer I ever had and I have had a few. This easy to clean. The instruction that you should clean the oil after every five use make a lot of sense as the Debris don’t get burn and making it possible for the oil having a longer life. Before buying this fryer I read the reviews. One of the comment was about the filter tray not big enough for the oil. The simple solution is….if in doubt that it is going to overflow put some of the oil in a saucepan before starting the filtering system.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI’ve had this for 2 months now a d I have to say that it is outstanding, i’ve used it approx twice a week with no issues. It is super easy to clean, just goes in the dishwasher (other than the element! ). Any reviews saying it leaks are just people who haven’t read the instruction manual properly – don’t fill it above the max line and it works a dream. The capacity is big, it heats up very quickly and stays hot even when you dump in a load of freshly chopped potatoes. I can’t recommend this product highly enough

Golden Review Award: 56 From Our UsersThis deep fat fryer is a beast and the best fryer I have ever had. Although it cost quite a bit and is a bit bulky. It is so simple to use and so easy to clean. My gripe with fryers has always been the part where you have to clean it, all you do is cook your food then after you have taken it out turn it to filter oil and I always unplug it and leave it to drain, that’s it, it is that simple, the following day I give it a wipe out with kitchen roll and I leave the oil in the box until I want to use the fryer again. To refill it is really simple, just pull the oil box out, loosen the plug by removing the screw plug and piur the oil back in, my oil has lasted 2 months now and I have had bread crumb items in, potatoes you name it, it now needs fresh oil but nothing like a conventional fryer. Highly recommended if you hate cleaning deep fat fryers, just be aware it is a large machine unless you go for the smaller version but this is perfect for large families.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is a brilliant fryer! The oil filtration is easy, clean & super to use. Quality stainless steel. We have open plan lounge/kitchen/diner and use alongside the hob with extractor fan on but the lid with easy view window certainly helps keep our kitchen clear of steam & smell. We’ve cooked chicken, fish & chips with great results- so glad I paid that bit extra for the filtration and lid compared with cheaper more basic fryer! Really pleased with this!

Quality Fryer with clean oil filtratio

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersOnly used this about 10 times but that’s enough to know that it was the right choice for my first ever deep fryer.
Looks and feels professional (semi), very easy to use and extremely easy to clean. The oil filtration works a treat and the drawer is an ideal storage container for the oil.
Large cooking capacity enables me to cook for a family of four without too many batches. Heats 3l of oil to 170c in about 5 minutes and maintains cooking temperature well even with a largish batch of food in.
Really very impressed and glad I chose this more expensive option.

Golden Review Award: 237 From Our UsersI was orginally looking to replace my Magimix 5ltr capacity fryer, which I loved as I was able to dismantle and wash in the dishwasher. However when looking for this replacement I discovered the Tefal and was impressed by the product decription. However there were some reviews about the oil filtering system and reference to leakage. Lets face, the last thing you want is fryer oil leaking, but I have found that, as others commented that if you follow the instructions and do not overfill the unit with oil in the first place then the storage container into which it drains has adequate capacity to avoid spillages. The fryer operates well and cooks well as you would expect the only improvement I would make, which may help with some of those leakages would be to improve the Max / Min level marking system within the compartment, with the basket in place this can be difficult to see clearly and sometimes even without the basket. If your on the sideline and undecided some other things to consider is the size of the unit. Due to the filtering system it is quite bulky when compared to standard fryers and requires considerable space to store when not in use, but after using this and been able to clean between uses it shows its value now theres no more sticky oily residue accumalating on the unit. Buy this product in confidence it works perfectly and improves the cooking experience.

Golden Review Award: 97 From Our UsersEDIT – I found that if i put it into filtration mode while the oil was still warn, the oil was prone to running around the draining mechanism and out onto the work top. I have no had this issue at all if i wait until the oil is fully cooled down.

I bought the compact version and i found the chips were great, the auto syphon and filter function worked well and the remaining residue of oil was easily wiped away. My oil container is now in the fridge and the fryer is clean and in the cupboard.

I added exactly 2L of oil for this first fry, ive yet to see how much oil did not make it into the container and was washed away. I expect very slight top ups on a per use basis to be necessary to maintain the MAX level.

Using 2L of oil leaves about 15% space in the container left so there is some wiggle room above the MAX level marker but i wouldnt push your luck too much otherwise id expect some oil spillage.

All in all, worth its money as nothing else comes close to the features on offer here.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our Usersused this product for a month now, oil flitration is actually quite awesome and all the parts can be washed after the filtration which makes it so much easier to clean. the fryer is quite big as well so can fry quite big batch in one go.
the only downside I will say is it dosent keep all the frying smell away which is a shame but still good value for money

Golden Review Award: 84 From Our UsersGreat product much larger than previous fryer which I love . Also much eisier to clean.
Just be careful not to fill to max oil level as when draining to clean, the oil box does have capacity to hold that much oil and I had the excess oil all over my unit, but I have since learnt not to fill right up to maximum oil capacity.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersAn easy to use and practical design. Reaches dialled temperature quickly and, more importantly, stays on it while frying, something that cannot be said for other cheaper models. I blanched at the price initially but am more than happy with this excellent piece of kit.
