Very easy to fix to wall. Easy to pull out and rewind. This item makes watering the garden easier and safer for us older people. No more pipe loose in garden to fall over. So quick and easy to wind up.
Working Well
The garden hose is extremely good. As we’ve had a lot of rain since purchase it certainly hasn’t been over-used but when it is used the hose is extremely easy to unwind and rewind. The only downside is it is quite difficult to assemble and one of the screw holes wasn’t in the right place. As it comes on a trolley it is extremely easy to move around.

The easiest hose reel yet.
This was our third attempt to find the right hose reel. Doesn’t tangle, easy to unreel and reel back, easy to install and durable. This does it all. I just wish it would stop raining so we can use it more!
Its so easy to use - have to use it every day for horses, but this makes life very simple
lovely smooth winding in and out – this used to be a daily nightmare with the old cart and the hose used to tangle and jam so that the water mostly came out by the tap end. This is smooth tangle free hose winding and the water flows easily – wonderful!
Wall fitting is easy to do
This is a quality product which replaced an earlier one that we had for over 10 years. An improvement is that the hose does not kink and is very quiet and easy to rewind. We have a south facing garden. It would be nice if there was a suitable easy fit cover to stop the sun and weather degrading the plastic over time.
I have bought three of these hoses over the years. The two early ones are still fine but with the latest model I have had issues with the quality of the pipe. The fabric which is intended to strengthen the hosepipe fails leading to a bulge where it attaches to the nozzle which forces the nozzle from the connection. You can of course cut off a foot or so of pipe but a couple of weeks later the same thing happens. You cannot buy a better quality replacement hose from Hozelock because it will not fit in the winding pulleys inside the reel.
Ideal for a big garde
Over the years we have struggled to water the farther reaches of our garden using a series of older hoses connected together. Watering and washing the cars were often given added excitement by connections flying apart, and reeling hose back in was always a bit of a challenge. This new hose has restored an element of dignity and calm to the proccedings. Long enough to cover the entire garden; straightforward to hang on the wall; minimal assmebly required. The hose rewind feature automatically feeds the house first right and left to coil it soothly into its housing. The housing is closed, which should also help reduce longer term damage due to UV on the hose itself. Only slight negative is that reeling the hose in is quite hard work. Overall, well satisfied with the purchase.

Great Value
This hose is so easy to use. The long length enables me to reach the whole of the front and the back garden. It is so easy to wheel about, connect and wind up. Really pleased with this and would highly recommend. Great value for money.

I replaced my old hose with this and I did a fair bit of shopping before selecting and I am glad i did.
It was very easy to install. I use a hose daily to take care of live stock and maintain my spa, great interchangeable nozzle, easy to rewind back to the hub and hopefully it will give the hose some protecting in the winter months. High quality, durable product.

This is so simple to use, and can me mounts at a perfect height to reduce/stop bending.
This is my second purchase as following using mine, have now purchased one for my parents to help them.
Super easy to wind away, and secures really neatly, with a locking lever to stop children pulling the hose out unexpectedly.
The hose guide comes with the setup and means the hose comes out really neatly when I pull, but without putting stress on the reel. So nice to be allble to turn on the tap and walk through hose to the length I need, and then just stand turning the handle to have the hose neatly pack away. No dirty hands.
Let’s get the negatives out of the way first. I found this really difficult to assemble – the 6 screws all need to ‘self-tap’ into plastic, and 4 of these need to go into one hole in the plastic, and through 2 more holes in a metal tube and finally into the last bit of plastic. Keeping all this aligned is frustrating. The rest of the assembly isn’t hard, but the use of WD40 or similar is essential when pushing said metal tubes into the receiving plastic holes.
On the plus side, the hosereel works well – water comes out where it should, and it is very, very easy to roll the hose back into the drum.

Wow this is brilliant. Took my husband about 10 minutes to put the handle on, as it didn’t want to slide the grey plastic top, he had to us a soft hammer. Using this is great but just remember to pull it out straight and when rolling back in lay the hose out straight, release the tap end of the hose and it winds in beautifully. Quite heavy but no problem wheeling it around to put away.
4 years of hassle free hosing!
I’ve had this for 4 years now installed outside in my garden. Its a very tidy solution for a garden hose. I don’t use it as often as I would like to but it hasn’t had any problems, no leaks or issues with reel. The reel automatically layers the hose as you wind it up so it always fits in. The hose guide is very useful to fit underneath the reel and makes unwinding/winding easier.

I bought this item to replace an existing one whose return spring had stopped working after many years of helpful service. I hope this one does not go the same way, but I will take the manufacturers advice and put it away in Winter.
Ease of use in pulling out and rewinding.
I like the fact that it can be reeled out easily and winding in is simple.
I think the locking of pulling the hose out a bit fiddly as you need cross head screwdriver to move the locking lever. Could this be replaced by a spring loaded righrangeld thin bar.

Excellent produc
Very good product which means you can take the main hose reel away when either not in use or perhaps during very cold weather. The wall fitting seemed a bit flimsy but is not – the actual brackets are solid with decent screws into the brick wall providing a strong support for the heavy reel (40m of hosepipe is heavy). Decent instructions which helped make it clear what the optimum positioning is. The pipe itself is what you would expect – hard to kink or bend inappropriately.

Such an amazing product for the garden, no more getting tangled the handle when reeling in the hose moves from side to side to perfectly distribute the hose inside. We’ve had endless use with this hose from washing the car to watering the garden and plants. It’s strong in fact this is the best hose we’ve ever owned/ It comes with the usual hose spray attachment and wraps up neatly to put away in the shed or garage. One of the best garden hoses we’ve owned and feels like it will last a lifetime!!
Very easy wall fixing via supplied bracket. Hose holder lifts off/on the bracket smoothly. All hose attachments fit security with no water drips/leaks.
The hose pulls out through via a wall mounted bracket, with no issues in any direction of pull. The hose is retracted back into the holder with the use of a wind handle. No issues, very smooth operation.
One minor niggle is at full deployment there was a kink in the hose. Recommend when retracting the hose, the Water supply is turned off at the tap, and the hose nozzle is open, allowing water to discharge on winding to aid the smooth action and minimise frost damage, if to be left out all year.
I would buy again.
Fooled by the words “fast rewind”. I assumed that it was automatic but it is manual. Easy enough, but will teach me to read the information more carefully. Otherwise very good and easy enough to rewind, infact easier to wind in than pull out!
Works well – only criticism is the usual one about kinks – it eventually happens to all these regular type hoses – on the plus side it is extremely robust – the newer retractable type hoses spring leaks very quickly, so will stick to this type – will look out for anti-kink regular hosing in future
This is the Mother of all hoses.
The hose pipe is strong and doesn’t bend like so many other pipes do. The unit is reasonably large, but it is compact, so it is as small as it can be.
The rewind mechanism is amazing. All in all, I think this product offers great value for money
Arrived on time and suitably packaged.
In spent a silly amount of time searching for the a good value hose reel that didn’t come with cheap rubbish hose. There are so many adverts that show a hozelock top quality hose but the descriptor says ‘colours may vary’ or in other words they will supply the cheapest hose possible.
This hose reel came with 40 meters of quality hose, a bag full of various connectors, a spray nozzle and a hose guide for fitting further down the wall. All the fixings to fit the carrier and the hose guide to the wall are supplied.
The hose came on the reel with a separate feed hose supplied loose (feed hose needed to have supplied connectors fitted by myself).
The fitting is simple (just need a 7mm masonry drill bit) and secure enough for its purpose.
I fully recommend this hose reel due to the value for money and rapid delivery.

Wheels back up really quickly with no having the feed the hose onto the spindle which is exactly what I was after. However, you have to hold it quite firmly whilst you wheel it in as its not attached to anything so it can be helpful to have someone help untangle the hose and bring it towards you whilst you do it.

In case people are wondering it comes with the pictured spray nozzle, 2 hose end locks, and importantly a hose guide widget that you screw to the wall beneath it. Hozelock Universal Hose Guide / Runner Corner Wall Mounted 2392 .
Finally, my unit was grey and yellow, not green as pictured. Not that I’m bothered 🙂
Highly recommended
The best hose we have had – having previously had hozelock hoses. This one winds up remarkably quickly and – more importantly – does not seem to get twisted on the reel. The ability to lock the hose shut is also useful. The one thing to watch is water pressure. This hose is 40 metres long and, attached to the outside tap, does not fire the sprinkler so high into the air, needing to move it more around the garden to make sure everything is watered. However, it is possible to shorten the hose if needed. Suggest in that case unwinding the hose to its full extent and see if you need the whole 40 metres (we didn’t). Don’t do this unless you know what you are doing! Other than that, it is a superb addition to the garden and we would highly recommend it.
Bought this for my 80 yo father in law to make things simple and as easy as possible.
The 40 m length meant that there was no more issues with will it or won’t it reach places.
Being on a stand with wheels is a no brainer for ease of use and access.
Should have bought this a long time ago instead of struggling with shorter/cheaper/flimsy models.

I got a bit fed up with having a hose permanently running the length of the garden, so invested in this. I really pleased with it. My garden is about 90 feet long, and it is more than long enough. It is nice to wing it back up, knowing it won’t kink, and it only takes about 25 turns of the handle.

Seems like a good buy, not used it too much yet but looks well made, easy to set up, though if I remember the instructions weren’t all the legible but you don’t really need them.
This is my third Hozelock and although the manufacturer only gives a two year warranty.
It should be good enough for five or six years, providing you lift it off its wall mounting and take it outdoors, when it freezes.
Eventually the ratchet will fail and then it will be time to replace it.
Buying direct from the manufacturer (via Amazon) will save you a lot of money.
Having said that it is expensive, but you are buying a quality product.
Down side – It’s a sealed case, so there’s nothing that you can do by way of maintenance
and for the money you spend they could have given you a Jetgun (also a lot cheaper on Amazon).

Needs to be mounted onto something sturdy as its a fair weight as you would expect with a 40m hose and it also comes with a hose guide which is handy. Happy with it although I would recommend upgrading the end nozzle to a better quality metal one.
Easy to install
Neat and tidy solution to hosepipe spaghetti. Easy to install. Hose kinks when it is wound out of the reel but it isn’t especially problematic. The whole mechanism sounds a bit plasticky so I’m not sure how long-lived it will be for a heavy duty cycle.

I have had bad experiences with the long garden hoses before
I have had bad experiences with the long garden hoses before. Once they are pulled out to their full extent it’s sometimes a nightmare getting them back on the reel. Have been using this one for some time now and it hasn’t jammed once and when its pulled out to nearly it’s full extent, to go round the front of the house, I’m not left standing with no water coming out, as the reinforcement is good and it doesn’t kink readily. I’ve finally got a good one.
This is a sturdy wall mounted hose unit.
It comes with all the fixings you need to fit if solidly to your house wall. It feels rock solid once it is in position – but you can easily lift the whole cable unit off should you want to store in a shed over the winter.
The hose supplied is a good quality Hozelock product which doesn’t kink!
I usually pull out all the hose I want whilst standing by the unit, and then drag it across my garden to where I want it to be. I guess you could just grab the end of the hose and set off – but I get the feeling that there could be a lot of extra strain on the roller unit if you did this, and I’m a bit risk averse in the garden hose department to be honest.
The hose winds back into the unit with no drama. Although, again for caution, I have been dragging it to the top of my lawn before pulling it in with one hand and winding with the other.
Overall I’m very happy with this unit. I ordered this by accident, if truth be told, as I originally wanted the one with ‘automatic rewind’ but pressed the wrong button!
In the end I’m happy to stick with this one, and also saved about 50 pounds by getting this model (with the same length hose).

Bought at reduced rate because of minor cosmetic damage to replace an auto-rewind unit which conked out. The 40 metre hose is very convenient & just about reaches the bottom of the garden. Would I buy it again – yes.

Easy to mount and use, unwinds easily and rolls up nicely too. The only problem is you need to either be strong or get all the hose piled up in front of the reel prior to starting to wind it in, there is a fair degree of resistance in winding and the hose doesn’t drag well.

it is a direct replacement for the previous hose, which had started to have difficulties rewinding after several years of regular use. I have not used the new brackets nor the short filler hose, but have used the existing ones. The new ones are kept as spares, but for me it would have been better if the product were a few pounds cheaper and supplied without the brackets.

Up until now I had used an old hose and reel, which kept getting tangled, this product though is really great. It was easy to put on the wall (clear and precise instructions). It is a joy to use because as you wind it back, no matter how much length you have used, it lays in precisely so there is no tangled hose the next time you need it.

that was ok but this one is much better I’m amazed that reading some reviews on this site saying its too hard to reel up …Rubbish !!! its much easy then tne first one I had its easier to reel up the secret is pull it all out do your cleaning (I do vans an cars my own c.v) pick up the hose pull it near the reel then reel it in Simple.less then 60 seconds

No more tangled hose in the garden. Everything you need comes in the box. Is now fitted to the back wall of our house and is easy to lift off the bracket. Winding the hose in after use is a dodle. Hozelock is a great brand anyway so getting this at this price was an added bonus. Thoroughly recommended

A very neat bit of kit. I brought one for my villa in Kefalonia and it was sent without a problem. It is neat and rolls in and out like a breeze. It has a configuration whereby you just put two large screws in the wall and it slips on. Easy to take off in the winter and store. Brought another one they are so good and great looking.

Considered getting the “auto reel” version, but the articulated bracket/ arm makes the reel stick out too far when flush to the wall.

I purchased this item in August 2011 and haven`t used it that much but when I did it worked perfectly until last week when something inside the reel became ” disengaged “and so it would not rewind. I then telephone hozelock customer services and spoke to a very nice young lady called Karen for advice on how to repair this myself as it was now out of warranty, she informed me that it was not a customer repair product I was extremely disappointed to hear this, but she went to see her manager to see if they could help me I`m delighted to say that I was offered a replacement unit free of charge which arrived less than a week after my conversation with customer services.
This was Fantastic service and Karen is a credit to her company.
Excellent buy
I am so glad I bought this. I have arthritis and all I have to do is pull the hose gently and it unravels right down the length of our 100′ garden, so easy to water everything – and wash the car at the end as well! Winding it back is problematic for me as my hands are painful but my husband and even my 8 year old grandson seem to find it very easy to wind back – with no tangling at all. It is heavy for me so needs to stay in situ where most useful, obviously near our garden tap. So much easier than our previous hose that looked so untidy, and was always getting tangled up!
Good quality but not as smooth as I would like
It is lovely to have a hose that packs away after having hoses trailing in the garden for years. I have only used it half a dozen times and I am really hoping the winding mechanism gets easier as I find it quite stiff. I also found I had to unwind and rewind on one occasion when the hose got stuck. It is also quite noisy to wind and unwind which I wasn’t expecting but again, with use I hope this loosens up and runs more smoothly.
Sturdy and works well
Replaced my previous hose with this, the rolling up action is much better, being auto-guided into place, and being enclosed from the weather means that the hose doesn’t get affected by the weather when not in use, which extends the life of the hose. Comes with a corner guide to allow you to run the hose around the corner of the house without damaging the exterior on the bricks. Would recommend one of these if you have the space.
I like the mobility – my old hosepipe was fixed reel and had to be pulled out and fed around the house and was quite hard. This one I place strategically with a connection length from the tap and it lays out easily as long as you pull it out straight. Makes life much easier and my wife is happier as the old one was a bit of an eyesore stuck on th wall.This new one tucks away nicely out of site – everyone is happy. My only gripe was wanting the upgraded hosepipe but apparently it only comes with a standard grade.
Fantastic, best hose eve
I have rheumatoid arthritis and cannot manage to roll my old hose pipe up so it used to lie in a mass tangle on the garden. Someone in hospital mentioned the hose lock wall hose to me and said how easy it was to turn the handle to rewind. I was very sceptical about buying one but I went ahead. It’s one of the best items I’ve got. If your thinking of getting one BUY NOW you won’t be disappointed.

The reach seems further than the 40 m i bought in fact i thought it was 60 so that is to say it goes a long way if you haven measured the distance like me.
There is a bit of dripping from the tap end as if the fit could be better.
We shall see but for what I need it for. . . watering a new garden. . . it certainly fits the bill.

Update after 6 years: see the next paragraph for my original review but I thought I’d report in after 6 years regular use. It hangs on the wall 365 days a year at 900 feet up in the Scottish hills enduring the worst of British weather and it’s still going strong: the hose is still in good order and the winding mechanism spins like new – a very good investment indeed!
Can’t find any fault with this product. Its robust, eay to use and has now hung on the wall for two seasons, rain, hail, snow, direct sunshine, come to no harm and shows no sign of wear. Even the hose still looks new and it,s in and out of the housing two or three times a day in hot weather.
We have a very large garden and need a good forty meters to reach all of our hanging baskets, raised beds and so on. Rewinding our 40mtr hose on one of those two-wheel trolley hose reels from fully unwound was actually such a backbreaking chore that for long periods we’d just leave it unwound and lying around. This, of course meant that the hose was in the way of cars manoeuvring around in the yard so it really was, altogether a real pain in the backside.
Nowawadays, we simply unwind as much as we need for the job in hand and wind it back in in a jiffy. Even winding it in from fully extended takes no time and hardly any effort at all. This has totally transformed the business of watering plants and washing cars and, importantly, keeping the place tidy.
If you need a long hose, get one of these, it’ll change your attitude to watering things from a chore to a pleasure.
Hozelock 40 m Wall-Mounted Fast Reel
Excellent product, with only one problem – the hose guide that fixes to the wall with 4 screws. When tightening the fixing screws, one of the screws broke through the plastic, so now it is only held on with 3 screws. This was not due to over-tightening the screws on assembly.
Other than that one problem, the unit works perfectly, and retrieves the hose after use with very little effort – just make sure the water is off and the nozzle is open to allow the water to run out when reeling in.
The Best!
What a great item. So easy in every way to use, my wife finds it well within her ability to operate. (I am disabled). Even winds round conservatory with no sticking. I upgraded the tap fitting and the spray gun, which made it even easier. I do advise leaving the gun “open” when finished this makes it easier to rewind, The water drains out as you wind in. I am amazed at the price, found nothing as cheap as this offer. Well done Amazon!
Hose
Great Hose works really well, but I was disappointed that the hose itself is not green as shown in the picture its grey and yellow. Would also be handy if some small wheels could have been incorporated into the case as it is quite heavy to lift. But does the job. Overall very happy.
Better than expected
Good purchase, hoselock well known company in this field, just what I needed, it now means I can wter the garden, wash the car etc etc, without having to change from one side of the house to the other. Yes it is a bit on the heavy side but when you consider the length of hose 40m of hose and you don’t have to move it, well worth the extra cost and it is very quick in reeling the hose in with the automatic system that is incorportated within the unit that elimates anti twist windin. Plus you can stlore away in a secure place, also from weather conditions ie; frost and sun.
Should have bought this years ago!
After years of connecting a hose to the kitchen tap and running it through the hallway to the front of the house to wash my car I decided to get an outside tap fitted along with a wall mounted hose. I went for this one and I’m so glad I did. It’s simple to attach to the wall and extremely easy to wind back in.
If you do need to get around corners I would recommend purchasing another one of the hose guides.
Easy access to hose
I bought this for my husband. The water tap is in our back garden and he washes the car in the front of the house. When he used the old hose wheel he would unwind it fully and there would be loads of spare hose all tangled up in the garden. Now he uses just what he needs and no tangled mess or kinks in the hose. With it being wall mounted it takes half the time to unwind and then rewind compared to our old manual hose wheel. Love it…
excellent purchase
works perfectly. got it on a really good deal too. before purchase i was worried about rewinding the hose and tangling. well folks not to worry coz it has an internal system which stops any tangling. i also read its not easy rewinding if u pull all of the hose out, well once agian dont worry coz i live in a flat i always pull it out fully and rewinding is not hectic at all. for best result get some one to release the hose in a staright line while you rewind.
No effort required!
The title says it all – need the hose for 5 minutes? Just pull out as much as you need then wind it back up once complete with total ease! The reel action requires no effort to extend or retract and the water pressure isn’t affected if you only partially extend the hose.
The supplied hose and fittings are all excellent quality, as is the bracket to mount the reel and the hose guide.
Simple and very effective
I asked for this product as a birthday present from my husband.
I was so tired of spending about 10 minutes or more trying to manually wind up the previous hose we had.
This fast hozelock is fantastic, it is easy to move to either of the water taps, and it unravels really freely so no strain on my bad neck.
Best of all it only takes a about 20 or so turns of the handle to wind it back up and there is no strain on my neck at all.
I now really enjoy watering all my pot plants and hanging baskets, and due to the length of the hose I can reach all the far corners of my garden.

Can now use my new hose-pipe fully dressed, hair imaculate and ready for any unannounced caller! It takes no time to water garden, pack it away in its enclosed holder and is ready for use at any moment. Even my car has benefitted enormously although it would help if someone could think of adding the polish to the tap water. That really would be fantastic!!Buying the extra length is very important.

When my Hozelock arrived i was so excited to get going after struggling with tangled heavy hoses in the past. It was easy to put together and the instructions were adequate. However on turning on the water, it quickly became clear that there was water shooting everywhere inside and out of the green barrel. I contacted Amazon who were excellent at offering a refund. I also contacted Hozelock service center who again were also excellent at responding. It turned out that there were 2 washers missing which hozelock promptly sent to me in the post. Once I could use the hose, I have nothing bad to say about it. The hosepipe is thinner to my normal one and therefore so much easier to manoeuvre about (I’m female!) and winding it up is a doddle. I particularly like the fact that I can put the whole unit in the garage if I want to. The only thing i wasn’t so keen on was the spray attachment that comes with it. It’s a bit basic and i still haven’t worked out fully how it works. I would have preferred a simple spray gun attachment. And get the 40m if you have a large garden.

Shame on you Hoselock for using inferior components.

Ease of use and Convenience Personified
I purchased this new reel as last year we got ourselves a Cocker Spaniel puppy and whilst the house has survived alas my old hose is now in three pieces ! Hence a need for a new reel encased to remove temptation although he’s happy to just chase balls now.
It arrived in super fast time as usual with Amazon and is very easy to setup. This consists of putting the handle on the outside lever – just the green piece shown in the photo, as well as the standard conectors to the hose supplied. Our outside tap has a threaded connector fitted and I understand this is common these days. You do need to remove a screw to unlock the mechanism which you can possibly see in the bottom left corner of the case, and thereby allow the hose to be pulled out.
The hose itself is so easy to pull out manually, and the extra length very handy as we have 120 feet of garden and the pond is at the end and occasionally needs topping up. Once finished you can gently wind back the hose and it is a easy smooth one way action. Probably best to turn off the water at this stage but so far we have had no tangles whatsoever. I leave the case out but will keep in the shed over the winter months to avoid frost damage – not unexpected given last winter. Well recommended.
I’ve just bought this hose as our other hozelock is too short for our new garden (so this review is based on just a single use). The retraction mechanism seems to work well. As a 40m hose, the reel is larger and heavier than a shorter hose, as you would expect. As the reel unwinds it becomes lighter, and near the end of the hose’s extension the reel needs holding to prevent it sliding – not a fault per se, but perhaps worth bearing in mind if you are intending using it at full length frequently. The design is clever, but still leaves the issue of water draining from the end in storage after use – hence 4 stars.
This is a fantasrtic product! The hose is excellent quality (so far) and reaches from the garden tap all the way round the side of the house to the drive to wash the car, almost no kinks along the way (nearly 30m and round a few corners). It’s also really easy to reel up using the fastreel function. The only thing i would mention is that the srews provided dont really seem big enough to secure the hose to the wall, it’s already started to lean over slightly… Apart from that i would defo recommend it!
I tried to buy the hose from an Amazon merchant but the company, MS Retail, sent the wrong one and are now disputing the issue. My first bad Amazon experience, but customer service is being very helpful in resolving the issue (responsive service from such a large on-line retailer). So I bought one at my local garden centre, cost more but at least I’ve got it! It is excellent – easy to fit on the wall out of the way, really easy to pull out and rewind and does not kink or twist because it always rolls back level in the spool. Recommended (but not from MS Retail).
