This mic is a great “first mic” for my first time podcasting. You have to be right up to the mic, it’s definitely not for catching far-away sounds.

I used it for podcasting for myself and found it to be super easy to use, feels very high quality, records a great sound (I’m an amateur), and I plug it straight into my computer and use garage band and it picks up just great.

Just make sure that you don’t bump it or move it because it will pick up that sound too. I watched A LOT of microphone videos on Youtube before buying this one. It comes highly recommended as a beginner microphone by almost everyone.

    Highly recommended!!!!

Very good value package with everything you need to upgrade your WFH sound for Zoom/Skype/Teams/Meet/Jitsi etc. Class compliant USB requires no extra drivers, and its integrated 3.5 mm headphone output gives you zero latency foldback/sidetone. This is useful to avoid shouting with headphones on or talking slower and slower due to a delay in hearing your own voice.

The mic is built to a price point but feels sturdy and works reliably. Decent off-axis rejection and a fine range of operation means you can use the integrated stand to position on a desk next to a keyboard for voice chats.

In Zoom, enable Original Sound with this mic and impress people with the high quality of your audio 🙂

Over USB, the noise floor is slightly higher than if you used its XLR output, but it’s still absolutely fine for everyday use.

This also works as a USB microphone into my Android Galaxy S9, though sadly not as a microphone for Zoom probably due to how they’ve coded the Android app to use Android’s built-in audio routing. It works fine with all the popular sound recording apps on Android. Perhaps Zoom will fix this in a future release.

Also worth noting, the Samson USB audio chipset does not suffer from any clicking, stuttering and other audio problems, which its nearest competitor does suffer from when used with an Android device over USB (the Audio Technica ATR-2100x USB).

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI wanted a microphone for streaming on Twitch and creating YouTube videos for work, and I heard it recommended as a good budget beginners option from a well known voice actor. So far I’ve only been able to use it through USB but I’m impressed with the quality and pleased with my choice, especially for the price!

    What’s included (Summer 2020):

    – Microphone
    – Foam windshield
    – Tripod mic stand
    – XLR cable

    Good:

    – Great sound!
    – Dynamic cardioid which means it doesn’t pick up too much environmental noise when set up correctly – perfect for streaming
    – Low price
    – Option to use USB and later upgrade to XLR. XLR cable is included too!
    – You can plug your headphones right in for monitoring
    – You can use it with an iPad Pro through the Apple camera adaptor, bonus! I spent far too much time in Garageband playing with the voice effects when I realised this 🙂
    – Stand is okay but not ideal for positioning as it will sit too low on a desk etc.

    Less good:

    – This type of mic needs to be really close to your face to work well and pick up your voice, unless you want to massively crank up the gain and pick up every other noise in the room too. So order an adjustable stand/boom arm to go with it, and make sure you understand how to set up the mic and position it. Otherwise you’ll be frustrated at how quiet it is!

    – I find on PC USB connection there’s always a very low amount of white hissing/humming noise, but this is easily fixed in OBS/Streamlabs/Audacity. The noise seems absent on iPad.

    – Because it’s quite a narrow diameter microphone (about 32cm on the handle), it was quite tricky to find the right size shock mount – I had to get one from a dedicated music store as there were no suitable ones on Amazon.

    – Weird power issues. When I load my PC, the light will appear on the mic but it doesn’t actually seem to be powered on. I have to unplug – plug back in to get it working which is a bit of a pain and will wear down the cable faster. This happens on iPad too so I think it’s the mic, not Windows etc.

I’ve had people complement the sound quality and stick around on my stream so I would definitely recommend this microphone. To be honest even if it doesn’t last long, at this price I’d be happy to buy another.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’ve hooked this up to a GoXLR Mini and it sounds amazing

    Pros:
    – Amazing sound, especially for the money
    – Denies background sound better than my condenser mic even though it’s still fairly sensitive to my voice
    – Included XLR cable
    – Included USB cable
    – Included decent stand for it

    Cons:
    – It’s quite long which gives me less clearance with my keyboard – it’s 28 cm with the included XLR cable. I strongly recommend buying an additional right angle XLR cable (90 degree bend) to reduce the length by a few cm or alternatively mounting it from the top (but this way it might be in the way of your camera if you use one)
    – The included attachment for the microphone which allows it to be held onto a boom arm is really flimsy plastic. Feels like it could snap easily but that only applies to rotation on the boom arm, not adjustment up, down, left or right – those should be fine.

Conclusion: Amazing microphone and definitely very happy with the purchase, especially at this price point. The disadvantages are workable and understandable, not something that would keep me from buying this if I had to do it again.

Will update rating and review if it breaks prematurely, I’ve only had it for a day.

There’s nothing entry-level or low end about this microphone. It has weight to it and sounds great. You can use it with an XLR cable and connect it to an audio interface or plug it directly into the USB port on your computer. It even has a headphone jack on it so you can use your headphones and hear yourself speaking. The included mic stand is the perfect height. A tiny annoyance is that you have to fight a little bit to get the windscreen on because it’s kind of tight. I was trying to reposition the windscreen and pulled off a little tuft of foam at its opening. So, be careful. But, I’m totally pleased with my purchase and recommend this microphone and this seller (as long as the price doesn’t change).

  16. KSHFlynnfkhfsr says:

I got this mic so that I wouldn’t have to use my webcam’s awful built-in mic, which sounded like I was yelling through a tin can. Even as an entry level USB mic, this gives crystal clear sound, and has vastly improved the clarity of my voice in Zoom meetings and gaming over Discord. Plus the fact that it’s dynamic means that not as much background noise gets picked up. In sum, I absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants clearer audio for professional meetings, gaming with friends, or video chats with family.

As a side note, this mic is “gain hungry”. My PC automatically pumps the levels up to 100% every time I turn it on, and I need to bump it down to about 92. I’ve found that the mid to low 90’s, on my PC, gives me a better balance between sensitivity and noise floor. YMMV

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersA professional mic. Much more than expectation. Its very simple to use. Just plug the usb cable in your laptop or computer and you are ready to go. It has extra advantage of using Xlr cable also, in case you have audio interface. But I use usb cable only with laptop and gets professional sound. Of course with Xlr and audio interface the sound will be improved more.
This mic has no background noise. Even the noise of fan and AC can easily be cancelled if you are using Audacity or other software. This mic comes with a small stand and a windshield. I also use it as a boom mic on a stand. Would recommend this mic to all, be it beginners or professionals.

Great for meetings via Zoom or Skype. If you are doing pro voice stuff, spend the money and get a better mic.

    Rapporto qualit prezzo ottima

Love the dual options – xlr and usb.
Purchased a usbc to minib cord here on amazon so I could go direct into my macbook pro and voila! Xtra 10 bucks made this just as easy to use as the audio technica competitor for less money.

Install some audacity and instant gratification.

Did a quick test and the clarity was gorgeous.

I’d spent a couple of weeks on microphone reviews and wanted something that sounded great and would be versatile for expansion down the road.

Have a boom arm and pop filter I’m still waiting on – but ala cart ordering has let me customize my audio recording set up.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have just taken this out of the box and used it for the first time. It is easy to use, no software needs to be downloaded onto the computer. It records like a proper handheld mike in that it only picks up sound very close to the mike. I can tap on my computer which is only 15 inches away from the mike and it did not pick up the sound. I poured water into a glass from the same distance and it was barely audible.
The sound quality is excellent for the price. Using the windsock improves the sound slightly though this may not be noticeable.
I also have a Thronmax omnidirectional mike which is similarly priced. This is great for picking up all the sounds in the room. However, the sound quality of the Samson is far superior to the Thronmax.
This is a great mike for the amateur who wants to record voiceovers but does not have a studio or soundproofing. I live by the main road with traffic and there are birds chirping behind my house, and the Samson mike did not pick up any of these sounds.
The stand is cheaply made but this is to be expected at the price. For total stability I can use one of my camera tripods.
Very happy with this product so far.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersThis is a truly fine combination, the Behringer audio interface UM2, and the Samson Q2U mike.
I’ve been using a USB CAD U37 mike, and the difference stunned me. Where have I been all these years? Get this combination, just like the Podcast experts suggest.
It’s so simple to set up and use. The mike input and headset output volume controls make recording and monitoring so simple.
I’m using it for Podcasting, after years of blogging.
The mike records voice beautifully from 2″ – 15″ with no background noise. I don’t need further distance, and didn’t try it for directly recording music.
Get a mike boom suspension stand. For $12-20 it gives you the flexibility you’ll need. The little tripod that comes with the mike works, but limits where you can place your head. I’m always well away from the desk.
I can’t believe how good the mike and control unit feel to use. I highly recommend this combination. You won’t be disappointed.

This is probably the best package on the market for a start-up podcaster. The mikes are sturdy and don’t require any batteries or other power source. Everything is excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend this product as it is also supports both XLR and USB input for future upgrades or expand ability.
However my only issue with this mic and BE AWARE that there is no current solution (was very close to returning it). When using the USB interface, the mic does not work after every restart unless you remove and re-connect the usb cable. The LED also flashes between red/green. Apparently there is no solution at the moment. The only way around it is either keep re-connecting it every restart or use the XLR input (you will need a DAC to power the mic). The only reason for taking 1 start away. Pls Samson resolve this issue.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI have used this mic for a few months now and the quality is very good.

In terms of build quality, the mic is made out of metal, you can somewhat feel the heftiness in its weight, which is a good thing to see.

The sound quality is very clear even without the windscreen. I have attached the windscreen and a pop filter in my setup and that further improves the sound quality. My experience comes from USB recording, and imagine those using XLR, may have an even better experience.

It is a generous bundle considering that it comes with a mic stand, windscreen and all of the necessary cables, including a XLR cable for those with more advanced setups.

One problem to note, on Windows 10, when starting the computer up or returning from hibernation, the mic stops working and there is only static. The fastest way to fix this, is to simply unplug and replug the USB cable. It is somewhat of an annoyance but for those who can overlook this, the mic works well in every other regard.

I recommend this mic for anyone that wants a good mic without putting a dent in their wallet.

What Twitch and YouTube Streamers Need For Good Audio”.

    Alors pourquoi 5 toiles ?

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo basically you will heard a mic blue yeti or rode mic and more which cost around $50-$300 that sound so good but i tell you what no matter how much you think its good because of the price its still suck so badly since its a condenser mic which mean its more expensive and sensitive to sound which mean if you have an untreated room like a room with windows or having fan even air conditioner it will get into your condenser mic in any product which mean you gonna sound like a person live talking from a cave with hurricanes outside which is so bad but if you have a treated room which sound cusion then you’re great but do you really need to pay an extra for that? With phantom power and you end up paying $300 or just $60 that nearly eliminated all background noise and sound great
Now its your choice I nearly making a mistake but found a right person to talk about it and buy this thing and i never regret

Great mic for PC. The only problem on windows pcs you need to unplug the usb everytime you start the pc to use it which I’m going to assume is a bug that they will hopefully fix.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI haven’t had this for very long, first impressions were
    1. It has some weight to it, very sturdy and professional
    2. Very good for the money
    3. USB and XLR connection

I have only used it with the XLR connection because I heard a guy on YouTube reviewing some audio inputs for making videos and he was jumping from gaming headphone mic to this mic on usb connection and then XLR connection and XLR was so warm and crystal clear that it made my mind up to buy it and I am glad I did

I run this through the behringer 402 with the XLR connection and I love it, the best I ever bought, I would use headset mic’s all the time until I heard this and I will never go back to headset mic’s although I just bought the corsairs mh571 headset and the mic on this is also very good but you can have multi inputs setups for software like OBS if u like to livestream or make recordings.

This mic will not pickup background noises, it has to be very close to your mouth the pick up the sound u can put the gain up on a mixer and pick more sound up of course but this mic is for you voice and your voice alone

I bought this to record my voice for gaming streams on my computer. Easy to set up, has a quality feel to it (the mic has a good heft) and the sound quality is far better than my current needs.

This is a great starter mic as it has both USB and XLR outputs. You can just plug it right into the computer and go to it or, if you have a more complex setup, you can use the XLR to plug it into a mixer. Sound quality is great for a mic in this price range and the build quality feels solid.

This is the best sounding dynamic mic on the market under 200. I’ve own a lot of mic from 50 to 500$ range but as soon as someone needs a mic for any project outside of really professional stuff, this is the go to mic.
Gamers, do not by any of the Blue mic, it’s awful. Get this one! You won’t be disappointed

Golden Review Award: 77 From Our UsersI haven’t had this long, but WOW!! This was a M A J O R score for my home studio!! My amazing singing buddy suggested I buy a dynamic mic for home recording because it works better for vocals in rooms full of reverb than condenser mics (I have a Rode condenser mic too). After this purchase, I may not need my condenser mic anymore!! For the price point, This thing is OUTSTANDING!!

I found out about this mic from Podcastage on YouTube. The original dynamic mic I wanted, the Samson CS Microphone, was discontinued except for here on Amazon (where it was triple the original price), so I had to do some digging to find a good alternative. Unlike with my Zhiyun Smooth purchase, I researched before I slammed my money down on the virtual Amazon counter. After seeing many reviews, comparisons & unboxing videos, I decided it would be worth a shot. When it came in, everything I needed was inside the box. I have an interface, so I used the XLR cable instead of the USB (sidenote: I also haven’t plugged my headphones into the headphone jack on the mic). As soon as I plugged it in, I did a sound check & was pleasantly surprised!! I didn’t expect the mic to be so clear. I might use this mic for more than just recording if I can find a cable long enough to travel to performances with.

This mic shattered my misconception about dynamic mics (which I thought all sounded the same). DEFINITELY A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR HOME STUDIO, whether for music production or podcasting.

I bought this microphone along with the NEEWER boom arm. So far so good; my only complaint is that the mic clip that the Q2U comes with is this soft, rubbery C-shaped clip that doesn’t hold the microphone firmly. I’ve knocked it right out of the clip on a couple of occasions. Even gravity seems like it’s straining this poor, flimsy clip. I’ve tightened it with a bit of shock cord, which is working fine. Other than that, it’s a solid, decent quality entry-level mic that I’m quite happy with.

Golden Review Award: 47 From Our UsersI selected the Samson Q2U as an affordable choice for podcast interviews I was doing. There are a lot of recommendations for other mics that are several hundred dollars. That isn’t in my budget!

Pros: Easy set up. USB or cable connection. Both long cords so you can move things around. Works with Skype. Works with wireless headphones.
Con: The only “con” I can say about this is that I don’t particularly care for the stand. It’s a little flimsy feeling. I appreciate that it comes with a stand, but it’s not as stable as I want. but I can remedy that with a future purchase.

This is a great choice if you’re just starting out and are on a budget.

Updated May 2018: I’ve used this for several podcast interviews I’ve done now and it’s great. I’m clear and loud and the interviewer gets a great podcast recording. My son is even using it now for some music recording.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersFor voice recording such as a podcast this cannot be beat for the price. I wouldn’t say it sounds like a $300-$400 mic, but it really sounds good, both on USB and XLR connections, and the direct monitoring (for USB only) works perfectly. Great choice for travel, but buy a different desktop stand, a folding one if you’re taking it on the road. This stand does need the height extender (unless you hunch-over the desk, or are very short!), which was a good idea but I found the threading was defective. I have the AT2005USB mic, and (although I love AT mics) this one is way better. In Windows 8.1, for USB recording I need the volume way up at 95 — the Windows USB mic driver STINKS any later than Win 7, so that’s not too surprising — but there is pretty much zero hiss or self-noise even at that level. On XLR I also have to push the pre-amp pretty hard, but that’s pretty much as expected for a dynamic mic, and again the results are good. On USB there’s only 16 bit but it will do 48,000, which sounds good. I have some “better” mics but this one is my new favorite just for fun and travel, and to recommend for beginners who want to improve their sound.

For this teir of mic I can’t complain. I originally bought it for outside work (used for announcements at a go kart track) and its wonderful. I’d say it’s much more appropriate for use indoors with programs like Skype (what I use it for now), Discord, Vent, etc. Crisp sound for recording, especially with the wind screen or a pop filter. If you do use this outside, -definitely- grab one or two wind screens for cheap. Makes life easier.

The headphones are standard, mostly fine for recording needs/playback, simple stuff. As far as using it to enjoy gaming or streaming services, possibly even music, I’d say just stick with or purchase a good quality headset. Played a few games with this one and given there’s no volume control attached, and that the headset itself is really just standard, the sound does get very loud and unfortunately muddled. Probably fine for podcasting though.

Given that it came with the mic, and for pretty cheap, I can’t complain. Good package overall.

Fantastic Microphone, I’ve used this to get some guests on major radio stations in the UK, they sound great.

I also love that it’s an all in one kit, you get a microphone (with USB AND XLR built in) you get a mic stand, and you get a pair of headphones – all you need to add is a laptop or computer.

I really love the microphone, it’s even got a remote volume control and built in USB and headphone out.

I carry this kit with me everywhere, in my back pack, unfortunately the headphones haven’t survived this treatment, so I use my own, that’s the only downside I have for this, and as that’s just an accessory it’s pretty darn good.

Great sounding mic but it needs help avoiding vocal plosives. Use a cheap pop filter. All fixed. XLR mode sucks up the gain, only a problem if you have a low tech noisy pre-amp. USB mode is plug & play and sound great. Stand is stable but the headphones are junk. Seriously, Just put them in the bin! Recommend.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersAfter reading a bunch of reviews, watching youtube reviews, and listening to audio samples before ordering I pretty much knew what I was getting. GREAT value for podcasting, don’t know if I’d trust the headphones for mixing a song or something but they are perfect for self-monitoring. I won’t go into a lot of detail because there is already plenty out there. Can’t speak to longevity (which others have said isn’t great) but I don’t plan to take this anywhere, just leave it on my desk, so I’ll update if I run into any problems.

EDIT: Alright. Nine days in. This mic has paid for itself. I’ve used it to record a few different things, and between a couple of freelance jobs, and some fiverr gigs, I’ve made more than what I paid using this mic. It sounds *great* (if you know how to use it). I’ve been using it via USB, editing my recordings in Audacity (which is free), and have had several people compliment the quality. Some of the people I have spoken to assume I’m using a much higher quality mic, in a better environment. If you want good audio on a budget, this is it. Again, I can’t say whether this mic will last a year or two, but it feels solid, it’s on a stand on my desk (where it will never move from), and even if it breaks in a year it’s still worth it. Do not hesitate to buy this kit, it’s the best sounding mic at this price and the extras in the box are just icing on the cake. See my video review/voice demo for proof.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGood for what it is – I like the dual XLR and USB connections and it is very easy to set up and use. Not so big on the included “tripod stand”, as it looks and feels a little bit cheaply made, but it is a good stand nonetheless. I would not recommend using foam windshields with this microphone as the elastic surrounding the metal ring in the centre of the ball-top mesh can come off quite easily if done so. I also do not like the fixed gain in the USB connection, and the XLR provides much more variable sensitivity. However, because it is a dynamic microphone, you need an amplifier or audio interface with quite a high gain level (I recommend 40 dB at the minimum). The headphones are just as good, if not slightly better. All in all, quite pleased. 🙂

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAnd does it very well for the price. At last I’ve found how to overdub several track recordings very easily. Not too keen on the bundled Music Creator Software though. I went back to Audacity and it was a doddle for what I want. and at the price a good buy.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis really is a superb product as it gets over the out of sync monitoring problem associated with using a digital recording device such as a PC. As the signal has to be converted from the analogue mic to a digital recording format and then back to analogue in order to monitor it this process produces a delay which is impossible to perform too. This mic gets over this non latancy effect by enabling the headphones to be plugged directly into the mic. Amazingly it also alows you to monitor the pre-recorded track through the USB socket. So no additional hardware is required. The quality of the mic is fine and as I am a sound recording engineer I am used to high quality and very expensive mics.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI just bought this less than a week ago. So if my opinion changes i will update. So far this is the best deal you could find. It came with all the cables neccessary for use on the computer and the headphones. It even came with the cakewalk software to make your own music.

As for the microphone. It is very sturdy, and has the same feel as a real microphone. It has two slots for hookups, one is for the computer and the other is one i will never use. Don’t have the equipment for that one. But mainly bought it to hook up to the computer anyways. Both cords come with the microphone. It does not say this in the product description. I did experience a little crackling in the microphone like others have mentioned in reviews. However the crackling i experienced I was able to get rid of by changing the latency settings in the software. This might have to be done a couple of times to get the right setting. Easy fix. You just have to play with the software to get the settings right for what you are using. Last thing on the microphone The headphones have a slot to hook up the headphone, however, it does not come with the adapter to do so. So if you want to use this feature make sure you buy the adapter. They sell theses adapters on amazon as of today for 1.99 with free shipping.

The software is good as well. Much like the mixcraft 5. It is a little more complex so make sure you test it before you try to do something that you might want to keep.

    Best bang for the buck.
