Review after 10 months of ownership and use.

This is the second wireless thermometer I’ve used, first from this company, and I’ll never buy from another company again.

First, the accuracy – there are two probes, one for dome temp, and one for food. Both very accurate according to other measurements that I take. Secondly, the wireless range allows me to stay inside during long winter cooks. There are max/min measurements that can be set, and the unit alarms if breached.

Finally, the customer service shown by this company is top notch. Responsive, helpful and dedicated to nurturing customers like me, and hopefully you.

An absolute must for me. BBQ temperature at grill level instead of the wildly inaccurate built in thermometers reading. Internal food temperature without opening the BBQ to check. Take the guesswork out of getting the right “doneness”

Good wireless range and excellent battery life. After many cooks I had a problem with one of the probes. The customer service was a joy compared to others and they sent out a replacement immediately. Very happy with the TP-08!!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI bought this product primarily for use with my smoker BBQ. I was attracted to it because of the two probes, one for the meat and one for the BBQ temperature, and because of the remote receiver.

I have used it a couple of times and the result was incredibly succulent, gorgeously tender meat, so that is very much a plus. It was great to be able to go off into the kitchen and make coleslaw and to use the remote receiver to monitor the BBQ.

However, there are a couple of oddities and difficulties with it which prevent me from giving it full marks.

Firstly the controls and operation aren’t completely intuitive. The instruction leaflet does explain it, but it’s not straightforward. And, for some operations, you have to be quick or it goes back to standard mode while you’re trying to read what you do next and you have to start again!

For the maximum temperature, it alarms you when it is EXCEEDED, not reached. So if you want to know when your meat reaches 65c, you need to set the maximum to 64c. Very minor, but not quite intuitive. Buy it works with the BBQ temperature where I’d set the maximum to 110c and want to know when that’s exceeded.

And where do you put the sensor for the BBQ temperature? (Yes, I know it goes inside the BBQ!) The temperature on mine is very different from one end to the other and from the top to the bottom. So when I’ve read that you’re aiming to keep the BBQ between 90c and 110c, I don’t know where to put the sensor! Some guidance in the instruction manual would be helpful.

Luckily my BBQ has a temperature gauge on it, so I put the sensor in and then “calibrate” my maximum and minimum temperatures based on what that gauge shows. So if the sensor shows 85c when the gauge shows 90c, I’ll set my minimum to 85c.

That said, I haven’t been able to keep the temperature of my BBQ very stable so I’ve ended with lots of alarms and ended up switching the alarm function of, which then means that I don’t get an alarm when my meat reaches temperature. You can just not set a maximum and minimum for the BBQ (or set them to extremes that you’re never going to reach) but personally I’d prefer to be able to switch off the BBQ temperature alarm independently.

And the clip that holds the sensor is a bit difficult to use and doesn’t hold the sensor very firmly.

Also, I cooked a duck in the oven and, when I got it out it was a little underdone. I’m not sure if I got the probe in the wrong place or what, but again a little more guidance than just “stick it in the thickest part of the meat” would be helpful in the instruction book.

None of these negatives are particularly significant and I have happily and successfully worked around them, so my overall view is that this has been a good purchase and I am, so far, very happy with it.

Excellent product which did exactly as advertised – just installed batteries, plugged in and it worked like a dream.
Was very impressed with pre-sales discussion with ThermoPro via Webchat before purchase where I was convinced to buy this model rather than the more expensive TP-20s, as it comes with both a high and low temp alarm better suited for WSM.

I previously purchased a much applauded thermometer endorsed by a well known chef. It proved to be useless . I returned it and purchased this model and I am delighted with it.. It is accurate fast and very convenient. Easy to use and good price and service. The company has excellent back up in the event of problems. Strongly recommend.

I’ve only used the ThermoPro TP-08 once so far but it was a great success. Took me about 10-15 mins of reading and re-reading the manual to be sure of what to do but then I was away. I used it to monitor the temperature of my coal BBQ as I needed it to be 160-170c for 2-3 hrs. I used both probes, one for the BBQ temp and the other for the meat temperature and used the alarm.functions on the probes so I was alerted if the temps went outside of the acceptable range which I programmed in. I’ve never used any kind of temperature gauge on the BBQ before, or messed about with the vents to be honest, but I still found the ThermoPro incredibly simple to use. My only issue was trying to find somewhere on the BBQ to clip the monitor to. The monitor worked a treat, able to watch television and yet still knew whether I needed to pop outside to open or shut the BBQ vents. And the BBQ’d char sui pork I was attempting was delicious.

I bought the TP-08 in July 2017 as an upgrade to my previous food temperature probe which was restricted by wires. This simultaneously lets me keep track of the smoker temp and food temp from the comfort of the house without having to trek up and down the garden, so much easier. I was disappointed when one of the probes recently failed. The TP-08 came with a guarantee on the probes so I contacted the company for a replacement. Unfortunately they were out of replacement probes but they sent me a complete replacement item (actually an upgraded TP-08S) instead!! All within a week of my original email, fantastic customer service!

Very good and simple to use, unit has much better range than previously owned bluetooth devices. Only thing stopping me giving five stars is the grill clip could be better designed, it does ping off and the probe can slide out.

Very accurate and does exactly what you need it to. Can watch temperature of meat without opening the lid and from the comfort of your living room. Tested with boiling water and was accurate to within a few tenths of a degree which is as accurate as you will get.

Although one probe broke the customer service was excellent and a new one was sent immediately no questions asked.

I’ve used this several times now and unfortunately the remote part doesn’t read very well through walls/windows, making it a bit useless when I step away from the bbq (during a long smoke, this becomes a bit of a pain, really). Also, I used it for measuring the temp on some frying oil the other day and to my surprise it had a hard time reading the oil above 160C. It was off by 100 degrees! It’s also very slow to update the temperature as it fluctuates. I’ve had better, cheaper digital thermometers that read more accurately in real time. Still, it does a decent job and the addition of a second probe for ambient is really helpful.

I bought this last year, but have only just started using it. I find it easy to use, essentially plug the probes in to the transmitter, and place the probes in the BBQ and meat and hey presto you’re done.

The screens are easy to read, and switching between Fahrenheit and Celsius is a piece of cake.

Very good range, can’t say I’ve tested the full 300 feet, but certainly good for 150+.

Slight criticism is that the holes where the probes attach on the transmitter aren’t marked.

Had my ThermoPro for more than 6 months of brilliant service, using 3 or 4 times per week, last week, the temperature started to fluctuate, contacted ThermoPro about how to test the probes to ensure the instrument didn’t need re-calibrating. They contacted me straight back and sent out two new probes. Brilliant service and excellent product, set the alarms and walk away, enjoy your day and has helped me greatly, resulting in some excellent smoked food.

Easy to use and it does what it says on the description. I was delighted with it as it takes the guess work out of barbecuing. My paschal lamb was wonderful and the probe told me when the joint was ready in my barbecue in the garage while I supped Procescco and watched the monitor in my sitting room! A happy Easter was had by all. Good valley for money.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI may have only used this once but it works perfectly and was just what I needed to help keep an eye on the temperatures in my new smoker.
I did a 12 hour cook and it didn’t let me down through the whole process!
The transmitter was fine outside, despite the low ambient temperatures (about 2C outside).
The receiver worked perfectly even through the external walls of the house! However, the receiver did go off a couple of times when I left it out in the cold for a while. This may be due to the cold temperatures as it worked well again once I took it back inside.
Overall, very happy with this product!

Perfect for monitoring the temps of my bbq and what I’m cooking. The backlight helps in the early morning or late nights if smoking etc and the temp can be in C or F degrees depending on what you like. Being wireless I’m able to set this with alarms too (which are great) and grab a little nap inside.

Have used this twice now. So easy to set up and saves worrying about the temp on the bbq when doing low and slow. I have a weber 22 inch mastertouch. The wires seem very robust and I gently place the lid over them rather than running through the top vent. Saves messing around when taking the lid off. The range is perfect for me reaches to the front of the house from the back garden. All in all so happy I got this over the maverick. One other thing on one review on this they said you cannot adjust up and down on the temp. Well on this unit thermopro tp08 you can. Time will tell how well it lasts but the company seem very helpful and friendly. They email you thanking you for your purchase and offer any help required. perfect for cooking on the bbq as I can monitor both core and bbq temperature. Wireless to remote pairs easily and does what it’s meant to! I’ve found it very useful to slow cook in my kitchen oven as the air probe allows you to tweak the oven thermostat to set it to an exact temperature. I have bought two Thermopro TP08 thermometers since August 2016, one for myself, and was impressed enough with mine to order the second for my son-in-law some months later. I have used mine to calibrate the electric oven indoors and to manage roasts both indoors and on my Weber kettle.

The Thermopro TP08 is very accurate – I’ve used my Thermapen digital thermometer to corroborate the temperature delivered by the food probe (within a few tenths degrees C of the Thermapen). It has made a real difference to being in control of the “doneness” of the roasts, especially on the BBQ where the BBQ probe gives much more accurate feedback of the BBQ temperature.

On receiving the Thermopro it seemed rather more lightweight than I was expecting, but in practice, has proved to be adequately robust and well constructed. It may not be clear on purchase, but ITronics offers a lifetime warranty, on the probes!! – And delivers on it too! My BBQ probe failed a couple of weeks ago. I emailed ITronics in U.S.A. They replied in 24/48 hrs to each of my emails, and I received a replacement probe within 10 days of the first email without having to return the failed part. – Truly impressive! Not surprisingly I’ve noticed Thermopro featuring in several “Best Digital BBQ Thermometers” on U Tube.

I considered deducting one star on account of the failed part, but the assurance provided by the quality of their customer service more than made up for it.

Best gadget I’ve bought recently. Takes my bbq skills to new heights, enabling longer cook times low and slow and above all safe in the knowledge the meats cooked to perfection. Done lamb, beef, chicken and gonna try pork next. All turned our more delicately flavoured and quicker cooked than without this. Just gives you more control. With lifetime guarantees on the probes it’s a no brainer….Just gotta get decent briquettes and you’ll be a pitmaster in no time. Was going to upgrade my kettle to a egg type one but no need now, that’s a hellva saving on cost and space.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersReally great gadget and was worth every penny. Having recently got a Kamado Joe and attempted my first smoked briscit I feel this was essential and would not have had the confidence to invite several guests over for my first attempt without it. Unlike my other digital probe, the TP-08 has a separate probe to monitor the internal temp of the BBQ – which is a must! As I did my cook over night, the ability to set an acceptable temperature range was great and meant that when my rather generous helping of coal got a bit too enthusiastic (i.e. too hot) I got an alarm at 3am and was able to bring the temp back down to an acceptable range – thereby totally avoiding the disaster of waking up to find dried out and burned brisket.
The range on this is great and signal was fine when I went into the house for forty winks while the brisket was smoking away – I was probably about 10 metres away with a wall between.
Definitely pick one up if your serious about cooking big cuts of meat or doing roasts / smokers on the bbq / braai 🙂

Used this product to smoke some meats on a BBQ, couldn’t of done it without this, it is accurate and the fact you can carry it around means you can have a beer on the job anywhere around the house, I dropped it on the concrete a couple of times (which I wouldn’t suggest) and it bounced well and seems very well built.

I bought this Thermo Pro to start smoking meat and what an excellent buy it has turned out to be. My first attempt was smoking a shoulder of pork and the information from the thermometers was invaluable particularly the heat of the smoker. The result was outstanding which would have been impossible to judge without this product. I would recommend the Thermo Pro I could sit in the lounge and watch what was occurring with the meat and the smoker. The customer service has been exceptional informing me of videos to watch on the set up and use very impressed.

This is a really handy bit of kit! Fairly easy to set-up and once you get the hang of it, there’s no going back.

I originally ordered the more expensive ThermoPro TP20 only to discover that it does not have the alarms for the smoker going too cold or too hot so returned it and tried this one which does everything I hoped for, and has been invaluable for my BBQ smoker.
Simultaneously knowing the exact temperature of both the smoker and the internal temperature of your meat means you can be a lot more confident in how your cook is going, and prevents the dreaded ‘peeping’ that can waste heat and moisture from the oven.
I know it’s possible to track temperatures with cheaper probes, but the peace of mind this brings is worth the extra (and if it prevents you from spoiling an expensive cut of meat, then it earns its keep!). I was surprised how inaccurate my smoker’s own temperature gauge was.

The wireless range is impressive, reaching any room in my house from the garden, and the alarm feature has enabled me to prevent the oven from going out or getting too hot and ruining my long-and-slow cooks on a number of occasions.

I did have one problem with the receiver (possibly due to water ingress) so I contacted the company directly and they very promptly arranged for a replacement with minimum fuss, so I can vouch for the customer service too.

I am not in any way affiliated with the product, but I have been so impressed that I felt the need to write a review for anybody who might be wavering over buying one of these superb little monitors. Do it – you won’t regret it. Happy smoking!

Takes the guess-work out of BBQ smoking

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSo what this is, is a dedicated thermometer for the bbq. Obvious question why the hell have one — putting meat on the barbie is simple as it can get. Well — no. Having purchased a kamado bbq few months back turned out that knowing the exact temp is critical (especially for slow cooking at low temperatures).
    The good
    * 2 probes — one measuring meat temperature (with upper threshold alarm) and one measuring the temperature of the grill (with upper and lower threshold alarms)
    * Operation does not require reading the manual, but does take a bit of attention and getting used to
    * Fahrenheit and Celsius — though not at the same time
    * Backlight — nice and bright, very useful
    * Overall good value for your money
    * Decent range — 30m (100ft) in/out of the house, though walls wasn’t a problem (maybe because the batteries were fresh?)
    * Sensor unit has an extra tiny display and a flashing light showing it is working and what is being measured with values. Nice!
    The bad
    * Quality — well it feels cheap. Plastic feels very fragile, the rubberised sleeve look very budget, back support feel very-very delicate. Overall — cheap Chinese plastic (no disrespect to China — they do make some great stuff); strangely — the probes look very sturdy. Buttons on the receiver often get locked up in the case — main reason is the plastic bits aren’t manufactured well, same thing for the case, while the springs inside feel very weak
    * No markings which slot is for which probe, though this is not much of a problem — permanent marker fixes this in an instant
    * No clock — would be really nice if there was one; same thing for a timer
    * No pouch — how the hell am I store this after the use? The original packaging is temporary; there are a few fiddly bits that could suffer if you toss the unit and the probes into the cupboard (takes quite a bit of space BTW)

Other thoughts — I fully recommend this device; it gets the job done and is simple to use. I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more to have it done out of good quality materials (the quality of the manufacturing is my biggest gripe). In terms of functionality — all is there, quality makes this product lose a star.

Brilliant product. Easy to use and seems very accurate. Pierce the meat with the probe, close the lid, sync the two devices and get on with something else. When something needs attention or its ready the remote tells you. Its waterproof, which is ideal in the UK as on the first 2 uses it has lashed it down. Lifetime guarantee on the probes. What more could you ask.

The length of the probe cable is much longer than shown in the picture which is a great feature allowing me to place it any wher in my large meat smoker. 5 stars well earned.

This was purchased as a replacement for my failing Maverick (5 years of good service). It is an excellent replacement, easy to use with good long distance wireless connection. Both units have clip in battery covers so that replacing batteries does not require a screwdriver. The probes have good length leads.
Connection between the transmitter and the receiver was very quick the first time and continues to be a reliable connection.
    The price (UK) is excellent
I hope I don’t have to use it but the warranty promise is exceptional.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersVery impressed with the TP-08. I have tried other oven thermometers before and have not been impressed with them as they seem very slow to react to changing oven temperatures and had a habit of failing after a very short period of use. I have been using the TP-08 now for a few weeks and to date I have been very impressed with its robust design and at the speed of reaction of oven temperature changes. I know that ovens have a 20% +/- variation but being able to detect it quickly helps with cooking times and quality of food preparation. I have one criticism of the design and that is the hanging bracket of the Transmitter unit. I find the bracket very shallow and it has a tendency to fall of the oven door even when only brushed against and it is difficult to read when hanging on the oven door because of its shallowness. Perhaps this bracket could be made deeper? This is where the receiving station is so useful as it stands remotely and easy to view. Even with this slight flaw? I am still giving the item 5 stars as I think the design, with the second probe for inserting into the cooking meat, the high and low temperature settings, the fast reaction times of temperature variation and the support from the manufacturer warrants it. I would certainly recommend the product and if I had a second oven I
would have no hesitation to buy another one.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersEssential for low and slow barbecue. I have a Weber kettle and the dome thermometer isn’t very useful for monitoring the temp as it’s far away from grill level and usually directly over the coals in order to position the vents over your meat to create the correct airflow for your smoke. This comes with two probes, one clips onto the grill and the other (if using) into the thickest part of whatever you’re cooking.

Easy to set up min/max alarms and allows (mostly) stress free cooks with the confidence to just leave the lid closed for hours at a time. I’ve had had great results smoking baby backs, spare ribs, pork butts, beef short ribs, and reverse searing huge rib-eyes.

Fantastic customer service too, my meat probe started to show inaccuracies after a year of use and I had a brand new one on my doorstep within a few days free of charge.

Pretty simple to use I got mine up and running right away. I used mine for smoking and I found there was a big change frommy smokers thermometer to the thermopro. This thermometer gave me much better BBQ that I had been doing. I took the wireless receiver with me and I didn’t loose signal once it covered the length of my garden and through to my living room, meaning I could watch TV! Great for the price, it does what it says on the tin.

Excellent thermometer. I am now able to keep an eye on both the ambient temperature of the smoker/bbq and the internal temperature of the meat from the comfort of my sofa. It should be noted that the ambient probe, if placed near the meat, gives a more accurate reading than the lid top thermometer of the bbq.

Tried out with my new Weber Smokey Mountain today and it’s pretty good. Not overly robust and build quality isn’t superb but it does what it needs to do and should last me quite a while. Great support from the supplier and support video as well which is a nice touch.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOver the years I have had quite a few wireless digital thermometers and still have a couple of mavericks but they are both now just a few degrees out with there readings, (and the last maverick I had only lasted a summer before the probes stopped working) anyway I decided to get a new accurate thermometer and as this one has a lifetime probe guarantee I thought I would go for it
I have used it a couple of times and it’s easy to use and the wireless range is excellent, I tested the probes for accuracy with my thermopen and all probes agreed each one was correct and showed the same temperature.
There’s not a lot else you can say, good price, accurate, easy to use and with great range, just what I wanted, hopefully I won’t need to take them up on the new probes guarantee if mine stop working as it would be a hassle, but it’s good to know they will stand by there produc

Very early stage of ownership but all seems great. The device is compact but well made, it looks robust and seems very accurate, covers the distance promise when moving away from the source and is loud enough that you can hears alarms going off from around the garden. The after sales promise sounds good and fingers crossed I never need to find out but it is good to know there is a back up team.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI spent a lot of time looking into digital thermometers to use with my smoker/BBQ and for the price this looked pretty decent. I have used it quite a lot and using the temperature and timer alarms really does help when trying to keep a constant temperature when smoking. Having the separate display in the house with the smoker/BBQ outside is very useful and really practical for longer smoking cooks.
The fact it has the two probes makes gauging the temperature in the BBQ and the temperature of the meat etc separately very easy and means there is no guesswork at all when meat needs to reach a specific temperature.

Again, unfortunately, the food probe failed however after informing the company they replaced it, almost by return post. Incredibly good customer service and would recommend this company and this product very highly (and NO, I do not own shares or belong to ThermoPro in any way!)

Great product. Has every function needed and works really well. Easy to use all of the functions after 1 read through of the instructions and probably won’t need to refer to them again. Fairly solid build which should last many years, and with a lifetime warranty on the probes of they ever give false readings I fail to see why you woulent buy this over other similar probes. I bought this in December after buying a smoker which I have not yet used. First impressions were promising. It looks and feels good and robust. As an engineer the first thing I did was to check it against a certified laboratory mercury thermometer and the results were excellent, as claimed in the specification.
I used it over the Christmas period to record the internal temperature of a large stuffed turkey (as well as my oven) and it helped to predict when to put on all the rest of the meal, also proving my timing had to be adjusted because the cheap thermostats they put in modern ovens are not very accurate.
I have used it many times since. I don’t like overcooked meat and odd shaped cuts are difficult to time accurately. This probe has allowed me to take the meat out of the oven at my optimum point and let it rest while finishing everything else. It is certainly the best probe I have had, although a bit more expensive than some.
I can’t wait to use it in the Spring in my new smoker.
( I should add that I bought this with my own money and have never contacted the company that markets them)
It is also very nice to sit in my armchair and follow what is going on in the kitchen!

    Good value for money
Two probes and separate readings for grill and food temps
Accuratye- tested against other devices and manual thermometer
Alarm for temperature range v useful for overnight or long smokes
Sometimes loses connection or displays random numbers setting alarm off- a bit annoying if it wakes you during an overnight smoke
The wire stand for the grill unit is poorly designed- does not enable you to stand the unit up properly. Same for clip stand on main unit.
Instructions could be clearer- e.g. setting the temperature you have to press the mode button?

I have a kamado. Knowing temperature without hovering over it or trawling back and forth every 5 minutes to check the vents are right for low and slow was a bit of a hassle and that it is then holding to temp. Over 3+ hours risked me wearing a path into the floor / patio.

This paired easily. And transmits without any problem across the 10 m from patio to front room. So I can check temperature in range.

I’ve only used the main bbq temp probe and no limits settings as yet. I’m sure they would work, but dangling the main bbq probe through the top vents was fast and has worked for me.

Results on bbq have been good. Won’t say it’s only down to this, but I would say that this should have been my first add obviously purchase.

So very happy with it. Will report back on reliability as that will be important.

Has fast become as essential as the Thermapen thermometer I also have when using my Kamado Joe cooker when cooking slow roasts.

The reason being is that the lower vent on the cooker needs very little and subtle adjustment which can have huge and sudden differences in the temperature of the cooker. For this reason I was up and down like a yoyo as I was constantly checking that the cooker was maintaining the desired temperature for slow roasting. NOT NOW!
The ThermoPro TP-08 is the best one to go for if you have a Kamado as you get the internal temperature of the oven as well as the meat.
It will sound an alarm if it gets out of the range you set. You can also gauge much better when the meat will be ready, hence coordinate the cooking of the extras at a better time so all the food is ready at the same time.
It also highlights that the reading from the cooker itself (it has a built in thermometer) is to be used as a guideline only.

The temperature reading from the TP-08 is also very accurate as it matches the Thermapen, and the Thermapen has a calibration certificate of accuracy included with it.
So I am very pleased with this tool and it was not priced too high. If there is any criticism, it is a bit ‘plasticky’.
But the instructions are good and it works well. I highly recommend

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve done 4 cooks since I got it and works perfectly both as a meat and pit thermometer.
I haven’t used the alarm settings yet as I’m new to “slow and low” smoking and I struggle with temp sometimes.
Like other people have said – it isn’t obvious which side of the device each thermometer is supposed to plug into (or if it matters) so check out the picture on the box.
Range is great – I had it upstairs and on the other side of the house to the garden and still got signal.
Cables are nice and thick metal so I’m not so concerned about damaging them when I close the lid too hard.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersReally useful piece of kit for anyone smoking or barbecuing. Thermometer seems to be accurate and the wireless monitor (with temperature and timer alarms), is really useful for monitoring the internal temperature of my smoker whilst getting on with other jobs. I’ve used to monitor 4-6 hour smokes (mostly ribs) so far but I’m sure it would make longer sessions (briskets etc), much easier too. The units themselves are pretty easy to use and feel fairly rugged so all in all I feel this was a very good purchase for the price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGood quality items. The transmitter and receiver both have clear LED displays and the receiver even has a back light as well. The units connected or synchronized quickly the transmitter has a red LED that flashes each time it sends a regular signal update. Both temperature probes are good quality and are shielded or protected by a braid on the cables that is rated to 380 C, the probes themselves are rated to 300 C. It is very useful to have timer and temperature alarm modes. In testing the units seemed fairly accurate. Both are protected from minor knocks with a rubber like edge to the cases. As a test the transmitted was put into a metal filing cabinet and the signal could still be received two rooms away. A belt clip / stand is also usefully provided. The probes can be carefully cleaned but must not be totally immersed in water as water could get into them where the cable wire enters.

This is an initial review on just how the unit works. I’ve only had it a day so I can’t comment on longevity.

Functionality wise the unit is great. You can set high and low alarms for the BBQ or smoker temp and a high temp alarm for the food probe. Range seems good; from one side of the house to the other. Time will tell if it lasts, but it seems well made, maybe just a bit ‘plasticy’.

I bought this after seeing it offered on an Amazon deal with a discount. I already have the Maverick ET-732 which this seems to be directly competing with and I have to say as far as I can tell this is just as good as the more established brand. The protective outer casing is a really nice touch and the probes seem solid and well constructed. I recently used this alongside other thermometers at a BBQ competition and I’m very pleased with how it performed. Very happy that I took the risk!

Used this for my BBQ smoker, and worked a treat. One probe in the meat, the other on the grill held by the very useful clip provided. Only one very minor improvement would be adding a 1 and 2 to the case to show which probe goes in which socket.

Easy to use and really accurate readings from both probes. I would definitely recommend this thermometer for anyone who is into smoking meat on a bbq smoker. You can just sit the unit next to the smoker and go sit somewhere else (away from the smoke) and watch the readings from both probes. You can also set target temperature’s for both probes so you know when your meat is at the required temperature as well as a timer. A great bit of kit and a must for anyone who is serious about bbq/smoking meat.

Have used it a month (both in a BBQ grill and in a wood smoker). Works great. Simple to set up, robust (they say the base is weatherproof – so far it has withstood rain), range is excellent. Price is reasonable. Wonderful that it gives you readings for both the meat and the grill/smoker. Has improved the end quality of the smoked/grilled meat significantly at the same time increasing my efficiency (no need to constantly be running to the grill/smoker). What could be better? If it lasts me a year, then I will give it 5 stars. Karlis

Recently bought a Weber with the view to try my hand at smoking (low & slow) different cuts of meat. Key to success smoke of what can b an expensive cut of meat is BBQ temp and food temp. This little gadget is perfect. Come with TWO probe one for BBQ which is fitted to the grill rack the second into the food. Honestly really simple to use. first attempt with a pork roast was problematic but mainly to do with the regular opening of the bbq to baste the meat – typically this would have the alarms screaming incessantly at me!

last weekend I used them again, this time to smoke a pork shoulder low’n’slow. What a joy. Had full confidence in the probes giving an accurate read out of both the grill and meat temperature and could track the meat’s progress whilst chilling in the sunshine with a nice cold beer in my hand! Alarm issues resolved with a simple press of a button!

In a few more uses I hope to ditch the instruction manual. My only gripe would be the claims of 300yd radio coverage. I tried a few times to leave the bbq to join my family in the gardens and lost signal every time. There are no buildings in the way and quite certain the distance was less than 300 yds. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this on a daily deal as doubt I would have done so. Seems overly complicated if you want to exploit all of its functions (like alarms) but as a simple “what temperature is it?” it is easy to get started. Biggest challenge is there are two different probes – one clips to the shelf to measure oven temperature and one is a meat probe – and each has to be inserted into the correct socket on the sensor device. I guess I should have looked at the product image on Amazon as that shows which one goes in which but the documentation hid this very basic fact a bit too well. Really this is the only thing you have to know (as well as where is the on off button) to get started.

What a fabulous piece of kit. I bought it to replace a faulty temperature probe. With this you can check your oven temperature and also the internal temperature of your meat simultaneously. Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI must declare that I am NOT a “vine” reviewer, I did NOT get this for free. I am a genuine buyer that actually wanted this product and paid for it with my own money! (I know, right?!)

Now we’ve got that out the way, I can tell you that I am 100% satisfied with the device. I bought this to keep an eye on the BBQ grill temperatures and meat that I have smoking (brisket in this case). The wireless range for this is really impressive, the temperatures poll every 5 seconds or so, you can be confident that you’re getting an accurate reading all the time.

The most useful thing is setting the minimum and maximum temperatures for the grill, and once it gets out of those ranges it’ll set off an alarm for you to jump out of bed and tend the meat. The alarm isn’t too jarring or loud, but it’ll certainly alert you if you’re a few rooms away.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our Usersi have regretted sending the TP 07 back to get this instead as I wanted 2 probes. The TP 07 is much better.

The TP 07 only has one probe and I thought that the next model up would be more useful to me having the oven temp probe aswell, but it is harder to get along with in my opinion. The TP 07 one has pre set easy selected programs depending on the meat you are cooking and rare/med/well done etc. It’s changes colour from blue to green when near done and red when finished. Really good feature. The TP 08 does not seem to change colour, or I could be programming it wrong but I can’t work it out from the instructions. It also doesn’t have pre sets so you have to google or refer to manual so that you can enter the correct temp for your meat if you don’t already know. It just seems to be trying to cram too many features into the same unit but lacks features that the TP 07 has. If I had known I would have stuck with the TP 07 as its much more user friendly.
