Mighty Mouse
I used one of these in my previous post and it certainly eased the problems that I was getting from my wrist and elbow. For this reason I decided to buy one for home use and it was also recommended by my then Health and Safety Officer. As I use a laptop and not a fixed PC I thought it would be better if I went done the wireless route, with no regrets so far. It was easy to install and I like the power button on the bottom so that you do not accidently waste the battery when it is packed away.
Eine Wohltat für schmerzende Handgelenke
Nach einiger Eingewhnungszeit (die sehr gut berstehbar ist dank der Geschwindigkeits-Regel-Knpfe HI-MD-LO-XL) leistet die Maus sehr wohltuende Dienste. Fast sofort sind die armen Sehnen entlastet und die unnatrliche Handhaltung bereitet keine Probleme mehr, weil sie einer ergonomisch viel besseren, natrlicheren “Hndedruck”-Haltung weicht. Mit etwas bung kommt man gut auf eine Einstellung von MD, dabei reagiert die Maus schon sehr przise und die auszufhrenden Bewegungen sind sehr minimal und auch gut allein mit den Fingern machbar (ohne den Arm zu sehr herum zu schieben – was die Schulter zustzlich schont!).
Der ergonomische Vorteil ist fr meinen vorher geplagten Arm auf jeden Fall sein Geld wert. Ich will dauerhaft nicht mehr ohne arbeiten und nutze sie tglich im Bro schon ber viele Monate. Ich berlege, zu Hause eine zweite anzuschaffen, durch die physikalische Entlastung mit dieser Vertikal-Maus bei der Arbeit kann ich jedoch zu Hause und bei Freunden auch normale Nager bedienen ohne direkt wieder Probleme zu bekommen.
Die Verarbeitung knnte nicht viel besser sein, jedoch die verwendeten Materialien. Wie von anderen Rezessenten beschrieben, fngt nach einiger Zeit das Plastik auf Grund des salzhaltigen Schwitzens der Hand an, sich aufzulsen oder rau zu werden. Insbesondere am Handballen und der nach auen gewlbten Hand-Innenflche unterhalb des Zeige- und Mittelfingers. Das ist sehr schade, das habe ich jedoch mit vielen Musen beobachtet. Die Entlastung der Sehnen wiegt diesen Nachteil jedoch m.E. deutlich auf.
Mit dem Schwitzen an sich hatte ich auch im heien Sommer (Sdfenster) keine Probleme auer der erwhnten strkeren Materialabnutzung (bei anderen “normalen” Musen habe ich das nicht so schnell erlebt).
Die Tasten sind gut verarbeitet, insgesamt muss man jedoch immer wieder eine Art “Schmutz” entfernen, wie sie auf Mauspads gerne auftritt – hier nur auch gerne auf den recht blanken Tasten. Das scheinen biologische Rckstnde zu sein (hnlich dem an einer guten alten Mauskugel nach einiger Zeit festklebenden Zeug). Das ist auch schade, lsst sich aber vermutlich nur schlecht vermeiden und ist m.E. nicht auf das Produkt zurck zu fhren.
An die Zusatz-Tasten gewhnt man sich sehr schnell, auch an die dritte Maustaste und die Vor- und Zurck-Funktionen. “Vor” ganz unkonventionell, aber da eine explizite mittlere Taste vorhanden ist auch passend, ber einen Druck auf das Scroll-Rad. Die untere Daumen-Taste nutze ich jedoch bisher noch gar nicht. Die Geschwindigkeits-Regel-Tasten sind direkt unter dem Mittelfinger-Ansatz, sind mir jedoch noch nie in die Quere gekommen.
Vom Gewicht her liegt die Evoluent gut in der Hand. Man gewhnt sich auch daran, die Hand hher zu heben als bei einer herkmmlichen Maus, wenn man zurck zur Tastatur will – anfnglich wird man da hufiger mal “hngen bleiben”. Das “dranbleiben” in der Umgewhnungs-Phase zu Beginn lohnt sich.
Ich werde regelmig von Kollegen auf diese “seltsame” Maus angesprochen und berichte dann immer begeistert von der ergonomischen Funktion (der natrlicheren Handhaltung) und davon, dass ich nicht mehr zurck will und es eine groe Erleichterung ist – an der Stelle kann man fr relativ wenig Geld recht viel fr seine Gesundheit investieren. Insbesondere bei einem Bro-Job.
Hauptschlich wegen der Ergonomie wrde ich sie wieder kaufen. Evt auch mal in einer kabellosen Variante, da mein Bro-Tisch doch schon sehr voll geworden ist 😉
Am liebsten wre mir aber noch eine etwas aus hochwertigeren Materialien verarbeitete Variante – hoffentlich gibt es irgendwann wieder einen Nachfolger. Der Markt fr Vertikal-Muse ist noch zu schlecht bedient…
Natural movement, great feel
So easy to use and feels natural. Having suffered tendonitis I find using a mouse that makes my wrist work from left to right upsets the balance whereas the vertical mouse is effectively working my wrist up and down but sideways if you know what I mean; in my opinion the way your wrist is supposed to move. Couldn’t live without this mouse now.

Ad ogni modo lascia una sensazione di non troppa solidit sui tasti, che risultano un po’ “plasticosi”, nonostante il corpo del mouse sia di buona fattura.
Il sensore buono, non ottimo.
Comunque lo consiglio tantissimo per chi sta molto davanti al portatile o soffre di infiammazioni ai tendini e tunnel carpale.

Also Wunder fabriziert auch diese Maus natrlich nicht. Ein geschdigtes Handgelenk bleibt ein geschdigtes Handgelenk.
ABER ! Es ist ein angenehmes und entspanntes Arbeiten. Die Arm- und Handgelenkmuskulatur verkrampft deutlich weniger. Hier kommt wirklich das durchaus extreme Design zum Tragen. der Hersteller hat nichts halbes gemacht, sondern das Vertikalprinzip komplett durchgesetzt.
Deshalb sollte man einiges beachten.
– Die Maus bentigt mehr Platz als eine Standardmaus beim Arbeiten. Sowohl in der Flche als auch in der Hhe (fr Schubladen ungnstig)
– Meiner Meinung nach fr schnelle Spiele nicht geeignet. Ich persnlich kann gut alle Standardarbeiten damit machen. Damit ber den Monitor zu rasen, kann ich mir nicht vorstellen.
– Es ist Eingewhnungszeit notwendig. Am Anfang habe ich mich regelmig “verklickt”, x Jahre Standardmaus haben sich eben eingeschliffen.
– Wer sowohl Zuhause als auch auf Arbeit am PC arbeitet, sollte darber nachdenken, beide Pltze damit auszustatten.
– Ein Tipp ist durchaus, zum Probieren erst mal ein gebrauchte zu kaufen.
Nach mehreren Monaten Einsatz nur positive Ergebnisse. Deutliche weniger Verkrampfungen in den Gelenken. Schmerzen sogar ganz weg.
Installation einfach und problemlos, sowohl mit Win 7 als auch mit Win 8 keine Probleme.
Klasse MAUS!
Eine tolle Ergonomische Maus mit Doppelklick und im schnen Design.
Bin damit sehr Glcklich, fast ab sofort keine Schmerzen mehr.
Leider hat die Treiber Software auf meinem Windows PC ( WIN 7 ) bei angeschlossener Maus Fehler Verursacht die ich nicht beheben knnte. Lag wahrscheinlich an meiner PC Hardware.
Was ich vermisse, ist das, dass Scrollrad sich lautlos ohne wiederstand drehen lsst.
Ich wrde die Maus nochmal Kaufen, da es wirklich gut ist und Preis berechtigt!

I tried 3 other vertical mice but they were all too big to be comfortable. I have had a larger evoluent mouse, for years, and found it to be excellent. This one is slightly small er and really suits me. It is expensive compared to others but it does fit my hand like a glove. RSA is a thing of the past since using the Evoluent mouse.

I actually love it, but I had initial problems with it, hence only a four-star rating. The problem occured early on when the mouse kept crashing and only the left button would work. I had to contact the manufacturer and get detailed instructions how to solve the problem. That is my only bugbear with the mouse: The instructions seem to be a bit old and don’t mention any issues that may occur with Windows 8.1. But this issue was known about, so it would have been helpful if at least a slip had been added to the booklet, or the online instructions about what to do.
The mouse itself is very comfortable. I simply love the feel of it in my hand. And I really apprecate being able to configure the buttons to my needs. I got used to using them quite quickly and find that it’s making me work more efficiently.

Nein – ist sie nicht! Fr mich war sie es jedenfalls nicht 😉
…und auch mein Sohn hat sich interessiert daran gesetzt, sie in die Hand genommen und einfach losgelegt. Man hat sie durch die Daumenauflage praktisch sofort handgerecht sitzen und muss auch nicht gro zielen ben.
Die vielen Tasten ohne Nachdenken bedienen kann man natrlich erst nach einiger Zeit – aber das drfte bei allen Musen mit mehr als 2 Tasten der Fall sein. Jedenfalls habe ich seitdem (nutze sie jetzt sicher schon 1 Jahr) am PC kaum noch Beschwerden mit meinem Karpaltunnelsyndrom.

It really did resolve my wrist problems (which I though were mainly due to yoga – turns out it was mainly due to the mouse I was using). I do occasionally feel a slight pain if I use this too much but I think that is true for anything with a repetitive action that you use for 8 hours a day. I would say this reduced my pain by 70-80%.
Echte Entlastung des Handgelenkes
Die neue Handhaltung bei der Mausbenutzung ist gewhnungsbedrftig, weil im Normalfall vllig ungewohnt. Aber ich nahm die neuen Bewegungen schnell an und ich komme mit der Maus sehr gut zurecht. Im Bro arbeite ich weiterhin mit einer klassischen Maus. Der Wechsel bzw. die unterschiedlichen Handbewegungen bei der Mausnutzung im Bro und privat bereiten mir keine Probleme. Ein guter Kauf, wie ich finde.
Kleiner Wermutstropfen ist der vom Hersteller bereitgestellte Treiber, der auf meinem Windows 8.1 System nicht zu 100% funktioniert, insbesondere das Scrollen ist unbefriedigend. Mit einer kleinen Einschrnkung nutze ich aktuell den Microsoft-eigenen Treiber, der allerdings die Programmierung der Tasten ober- und unterhalb der Daumenflche nicht zulsst.

No I am using my PC at home a lot more for studying, I was experiencing wrist ache so chose this Evoluent Vertical 4 Wireless Mouse. I’m not disappointed – no wrist ache anymore. I would advise new users that you will take some getting used to the mouse when you first start using it, but after a few days you’ll be up and running and you’ll never want to go back to a traditional mouse again. A traditional mouse makes you bend your wrist to use it. The Evoluent Vertical mouse means your wrist is in a natural neutral position.

RSI Pain reduction achieved so I'm happy!
A nice quality product and fits my hand perfectly. The pointer speed feature is nice, which has enabled me to move around the screen with very little movement. I have RSI and did have pain reduction using this product, compared to a traditional mouse. I find it better to use with a wrist supporting mouse pad.
It’s certainly a pretty product to look at and feels quite luxurious for a mouse.
Make sure you check the Evoluent web site for size details. Getting the right size appears to be really important. Sometimes my PC is used by someone with a larger hand. They can use the mouse, but their hand position is more akin to a traditional mouse and they find it uncomfortable for longer periods of use.

carpal tunnel got me to buy this, the zelecam, a touch pad, a trackball and a mouse. I use them all in rotation, as they make me use my hand in different ways, so repetitive stress doesn’t have a change to occur. Expensive but VERY effective strategy.
Almost perfect but good enough. Sick of trying different mice!
Alright. I tried a lot of ergonomic mice lately in my effort to relieve pain from carpal tunnel. This is the best overall so far. I ended up returning the Anker Vertical Ergonomic Optical Mouse. I returned the DXT Precision Mouse and the LUGULAKE Vertical Ergonomic Mouse.
This mouse is by far the most comfortable overall. Here’s what it does well in my book of important points:
-buttons are easy to press
-multiple buttons
-easy dpi adjustment
-comfortable (for the most part)
Here’s what I don’t like:
-collects finger grime like a magnet probably because of the smooth finish of the plastic
-the buttons get sticky a bit
-ring finger and pinky get cramped a bit and gets uncomfortable after a few minutes (now I can’t stand the feeling of it and I end up trying to put my pinky on the mousepad beside the mouse, but the darn edge keeps digging into my pinky)
-mouse tends to get “heavy” because your whole hand is resting on it and is noticeably harder to move than other mice I’ve tried so far
-that leads to whole arm fatigue
-i hate whole palm style mice with a passion that forces the whole arm to move (less accuracy and more effort required)
My ideal mouse is small and light easily movable with fingers. See my review on the DXT Precision Mouse.
I thought of trying this one or the Hippus Handshoe and chose this one because of the numerous positive reviews. I agree that this is a pretty good mouse, but far from perfect. But I think I will stick with this one because I’m so sick and tired of buying and returning mice.
In terms of pain, it’s lessened it almost to a point of no pain so it’s served its purpose.
Good but prefer the earlier versio
I have used the Evoluent 3 for some time with my home laptop and it has really been beneficial for my RSI. I wanted a similar model for my work laptop and have tried several of the cheaper types but find them too light as I like the chunky feel of the Evoluent. So I decided to spend the additional money and get an Evoluent again. The Evoluent 4 is quick and responsive and easy to set up, it is very comfortable and easy to use BUT it is lighter than the 3 so for me that stops it getting 5 stars. However I have been using it for a few weeks and am getting used to it which means I could have probably saved some money by buying cheaper and lighter in the first place.

Ich habe die Maus seit 3 jahren im Bro. Sie wird an 5 Tagen in der Woche 7 bis 8 Stunden benutzt.
Bevor ich diese Maus anschaffte, hatte ich regelmig Schmerzen rechts oben nahe der Schulter. Nach nicht einmal 2 Monaten mit der Maus waren die Schmerzen weg. Nach kurzer Eingewhnung von ein paar Tagen kam ich sehr gut mit der Maus zurecht. Die Tasten sind leichtgngig. Wenn man die Auflageflche der Maus regelmig subert, luft sie sehr gut ber den Tisch. Die Schnur ist sehr lang. Da hat man keine Probleme mit dem Standort des USB-Anschlusses.
Kleiner Negativpunkt: Die dunkelgraue Flche der Maus ist inzwischen sehr abgenutzt. Die Beschichtung ist an den Stellen, die stndig im Kontakt mit der Handflche sind, ganz ab. Es bleiben unschne, glnzende Flecken. Nach 3 Jahren intensiver Nutzung ist die vermutlich nicht verwunderlich und wre an anderen Produkten wohl genauso.
Ich bin rundum zufrieden und kann die Maus auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

I have used this left handed mouse for over two years now. I suffered with a mix of RSI and Arthritis in my left hand. I much prefer using this mouse over a standard mouse. It took a little while to get used to it. The neutral position has improved my pain level a lot, not completely.
My only real complaint is that the mouse feels flimsy(although it has withstood 2 years of knocks and drops) and that the coating on it flakes off easily. All in all I am happy with it.

Nothing Else Compares To Evoluent Mice
This is my second mouse now having owned a previous model in the range and used it to death over 4 or 5 years. If you have wrist problems just by it and don’t think twice as there is nothing which will compare on the market. When I got my first it changed my life I couldn’t even use a standard mouse due to wrist pain this Evoluent has been a really Godsend.

Nachdem bei mir ein Mausarm (oder auch Tennisarm) vom Arzt diagnostiziert wurde, wusste ich erst mal nicht, wie ich tglich die Stunden am PC in der Arbeit berleben soll, wegen der Schmerzen in Hand und Unterarm. Meine Kollegin gab mir dann den Tipp, mir doch eine vertikale Maus zu besorgen. Mit der Evoluent-Maus wurden meine Beschwerden mit dem Mausarm umgehend sprbar leichter.
In der Arbeit habe ich das grere Modell dieser Evoluent-Maus, fr Leute wie mich mit kleinen Hnden finde ich sie aber etwas zu schwerfllig, so dass ich der hier erhltlichen “Small”-Version, die ich mir dann auch noch gekauft habe, den Vorzug gebe.
Die Maus liegt gut in der Hand und man merkt bei der Verarbeitung, dass man es nicht mit einem Billigprodukt zu tun hat. Sehr angenehm finde ich, dass man die Schnelligkeit der Pfeilbewegung auf dem Bildschirm mehrstufig regulieren kann. Auch das seitlich rechts angebrachte Scrollrad funktioniert gut. Nach ein paar Stunden Eingewhnungszeit kommt man auch mit der zunchst ungewohnten vertikalen Ausrichtung der Maus gut zu recht.
Fazit: Zugegeben, es gibt gnstigere Modelle, aber meiner Meinung nach ist diese Maus jeden Cent wert.
Schont Arm und Schulter bei häufiger Computerarbeit mit der Maus
Ich hatte Schmerzen im Arm und in der Schulter, wenn ich lange mit der normalen Maus arbeite. Bei der Evoluent Vertical Mouse liegt die Hand nicht flach, sondern aufrecht. Diese Haltung entspannt Arm und Schulter erheblich. Noch mehr spannungsfreies Arbeiten erfolgt, wenn man den Mausarm auf Stuhllehne und Arbeitstisch auflegen kann.
Die Installation auf Windows 7 ohne CD funktionierte reibungslos. Vermutlich nutze ich einige Zusatzfunktionen der Treiber-CD nicht, aber ich brauche sie auch nicht.
Teuer, aber sehr empfehlenswert fr Viel-Mausbediener.
Quality mouse for those with hand problems/aches
It initially helped a lot for about a year but problems with overusing my mouse hand got worse. (I’ve been using mice every day for 25 years!) For me this was a good short-term solution to my poor aching hand but I found relief by changing to the Handshoe Mouse. It’s all down to each person’s unique problems. The quality of the Evoluent mouse is superb.

Extremely good bit of kit, all the pain in my wrist has gone! which is a very imporatnt part of my body. I would now have a lot of difficulty in using a normal mouse. Maybe a bit expensive but it looks cool!
Wrist save
Best ever Karpaltunnel healer. Better than any wrist rail which makes the wrist painfree but stiff and when you move it hurts even more. Splendid small size just fine for female hands.
Eliminates wrist pain instantly, but does not work on all surfaces
This mouse is designed to eliminate wrist pain, and it allows you to program the mouse buttons to perform the action you need.
The only inconvenience I found so far, the mouse does not work on all surfaces. I bought a special mouse pad from Fellowes “Fellowes Gliding Palm Support with Microban Protection, and Mouse Pad” to have a special zone to glide the mouse that avoid bacteria to accumulate on the pad, but the surface of this pad seems to be reflective, and the VerticalMouse 4 does not work on such pad. I’m using my old mouse pad, but I would like to be able to use this mouse on any surface. It is a very expensive mouse, so I would expect this item to work on almost any surface (just like my $30 logitech mouse does). That’s why I’m giving it 4 stars, but besides that, I’m happy because my wrist pain has gone 🙂
Top Maus
Habe mir bereits die zwei Evoluent Maus fr zu Hause gekauft. Habe jetzt eine Maus auf Arbeit und eine Maus auf Arbeit. Ist zwar ein stolzer Preis, den man fr diese Muse hinblttern muss, aber die Maus ist Ihren Preis wert. Sehr solide Verarbeitung. Hatte die erste Maus fr die Arbeit ja gekauft, da ich Schmerzen im Arm hatte (Mausarm). Diese Schmerzen sind mittlerweile komplett weg. Allerdings war es immer etwas gewhnungsbedrftig, zu Hause dann eine eine einfache Standardmaus nutzen zu mssen. Einziger Wermutstropfen ist, dass man sich den Maustreiber nur in Englisch von der Evoluent Homepage herunterladen muss, um alle 5 oder 6 Tasten (je nach Ausfhrung der Maus, Evoluent Maus 3 oder 4) auch nutzen kann.

Große Entlastung, wenn man sich mal dran gewöhnt ha
Es gibt Tage auf der Arbeit, da sitze ich mehrere Stunden am Stck am Computer und Zeichne. Bei einer “normalen” Maus hat das beim mir zu Schmerzen im Arm gefhrt, die sich bis in die Schulter zogen. Zum Geburtstag habe ich mir daher diese – zugegeben nicht ganz billige – Maus gekauft.
Die Eingewhnungszeit war recht langwierig. Was half war die Tatsache, dass ich die alte Maus noch parallel benutzt habe. Gerade beim Schreiben, wenn man nur mal kurz die Maus benutzt, war es schon viel praktischer, die kleine normale Maus zu nehmen. Die grte Umstellung war es, dass man diese Maus nicht einfach mit 2 Fingern anheben kann, wenn man z.B. zum oberen Bildrand will und schon am Ende des Mauspads angekommen ist. Mit der Rechtshndermaus kann man z.B. die Maus nach rechts kippenund dann nach unten ziehen. Mittlerweile mach ich das ohne darber nachzudenken, aber am Anfang war die Umstellung recht schwer.
Auf alle Flle kann ich jetzt mit der Maus deutlich lnger ermdungsfrei arbeiten und ich bin mit dem Teil sehr zufrieden. Die Maus verfgt noch ber ein paar Zusatztasten – u.a. zum Umschalten der Auflsung oder die blichen Daumentasten etc. Bis auf die mittlere Maustaste (die z.B. bei verschiedenen Zeichenprogrammen bentigt wird), verwende ich diese Tasten aber derzeit nicht. … immerhin sind diese Tasten so gut angeordnet und haben einen sehr guten Druckpunkt, so dass ich sie auch nicht als strend empfinde.
Leider gibt es doch eine Sache, die der Maus die 5-Sterne Bewertung kostet: Nach einem Jahr funktioniert das Mausrad nicht mehr korrekt. Beim Rollen in eine Richtung springt es z.B. 3x nach unten und dann 1x nach oben. Das ist auch gut erkennbar, wenn man am unteren Bildrand angekommen ist. Rollt man dann weiter nach unten, springt das Bild immer wieder auch nach oben. Das fhrt dazu, dass man sich bei lngeren Dokumenten sehr konzentrieren muss, um nicht die Orientierung zu verlieren. Ich habe versucht, das Mausrad zu reinigen. Leider ist die Maus extrem wartungsunfreundlich aufgebaut. Bis man an das Rad herankommt, muss man einige Teile auseinander bauen und das Zusammensetzen ohne Beschdigung ist sehr schwierig. Es zeigte sich, dass das Rad unerwarteterweise sehr sauber war und der Fehler dann offensichtlich innerhalb der Sensorik des Rades lag.
Amazon hat mir die Maus als Vorab-Tausch ersetzt, was ich nach einem Jahr Benutzung als sehr kundenfreundlich empfinde.
Gute Option bei Mausarm
Da ich sehr viel am PC arbeite (privat und beruflich) haben sich bei mir starke Beschwerden, der sogenannte Mausarm, eingestellt.
Bei einer Reha Manahme wurde mir von der Ergotherapeutin eine vertikale Maus empfohlen. Nach anfnglichen Installationsproblemen, die Maus muss an einen USB Anschluss gesteckt werden und funktioniert nicht ber Adapter am Mausanschluss am PC, komme ich sehr gut zurecht. Ob sich damit auch die Beschwerden lindern werden, wird sich wohl erst nach einer lngeren Nutzung herausstellen. Zumindest ist mein Arm nicht mehr so verkrampft und ich habe auch den Eindruck einer leichten Besserung.
Ich habe die VM4Small bestellt und die liegt bei mir wirklich gut in der Hand. Zum Vergleich hatte ich die gleiche auch als Wireless Maus bestellt. Diese ist allerdings etwas grer und passt nicht mehr so gut in meine kleine Hand. Deshalb habe ich dann doch die “Kabelmaus” genommen. Nach Download und Installation der Software, habe ich die Tastenbelegung noch etwas gendert und bin jetzt sehr zufrieden. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
Update: Ich nutze die Maus jetzt seit ca. 3 Monaten tglich beruflich und auch privat. Mein Mausarm hat sich “verabschiedet”. Ich habe keinerlei Beschwerden mehr. Ich kann diese Maus also nur empfehlen.
Perfec
I have used the Version 3 for years which has helped with my arm/wrist pain enormously – in fact, it’s made the difference to being able to carry on working in IT.
This Version 4 Wireless mouse has a slightly nicer feel to it than the Version 3, and being wireless makes it easier to use.
The software it comes with makes it simple to program all the buttons, adjust the pointer speed DPI using shortcut keys, set click lock / auto click, as well as integrating with the usual mouse controls such as adjusting the pointers and wheel scroll increments.
Very comfortable
Its a very nice mouse. Hard to add much more than whats already been written about the ergonomics. Be sure to get the right size for your hand. The buttons are much easier to click then others like this. My only beef is the driver. It takes over any other mouse you have. I know they say it conflicts, but c’mon guys, other manufactures make drivers that don’t, so give me a break. A little lazy there. I was using a Deathadder for years, which has a separate driver, but just can’t get its speed working properly with the Evoluent. Shame.
I tried the Anker vertical before this one and like this MUCH better for comparison. I can easily click buttons without the mouse turning on me and the little pinky wrest does make a difference.

Perfekt, Schmerzen durch "Maus-Arm" innerhalb 3 Wochen verschwunde
Ist zwar ziemlich teuer, aber sein Geld wert. Habe die Maus seit fast einem Jahr in Gebrauch. Nach ca. 1 Woche Gewhnung konnte ich hervorragend damit arbeiten. Meine Unterarmschmerzen waren nach ca. 3 Wochen vollstndig verschwunden. Die Maus ist mir 2 x zu Boden gefallen, jedoch hat sie das alles prima berstanden. Alle Leute sprechen einen natrlich auf diese ungewhnliche Maus an.
Ich wrde Sie jederzeit ohne Einschrnkungen wieder kaufen!

Comme pour beaucoup, diverses douleurs m’ont amen prendre l’option d’une souris verticale. Un lment m’a paru dterminant : le renflement pour poser le petit doigt pour viter de le frotter lors des mouvements de la souris. Les premiers prix ne l’ont pas et je confirme qu’ l’usage, ce dtail fait la diffrence. L’usage est droutant au dbut, car les fonctionnalits des boutons sont dcales (et la position de la main encore plus), mais l’adaptation s’avre rapide. J’ai gard la souris traditionnelle porte de main, mais j’y ai recours de moins en moins souvent. Le bilan (provisoire) : soulagement ct TMS (si usage intense), mais plus de lenteur (on ne vise pas aussi bien qu’ plat, mais a peut s’amliorer) et une certaine paresse de l’quivalent clic gauche (reste parfois sans effet, d’o une toile en moins).

This is so comfortable and i am on my second (the previous lasted at least two years of 8 hours a day work). Worth the price for the comfort and the high DPI settings.

Die Maus erscheint hochwertig verarbeitet, funktioniert einwandfrei und entlastet den Arm des Bedieners. Was mich allerdings strt ist die Standardkonfiguration, die neben der blichen Mausfunktionen – rechte, linke Taste und Scollrad – weitere Funktionen freigeschaltet hat, die bei Internetbesuchen schon einmal fr unbeabsichtigtes Verlassen von Seiten oder Beendigung von Funktionen sorgen knnen. Nachdem ich in ein Kontaktformular einer Homepage einen langen Text eingegeben hatte, kam ich beim Versetzen der Maus auf eine Taste, die die Eingabe sofort beendete und mich unvermittelt die Seite verlassen lies.
Auch die Anleitung, wie weitere Funktionen programmiert werden knnen ist fr den ungebten User nicht ohne Herausforderung.

I have to work a lot of hours in front of the PC due to my occupation, which resulted in a Repetitive Strain Injury
Made Research and decided to try the Vertical mouse.
After a few weeks the RSI disappeared completly.
I have to add that I used a lot the graphic tablet (wacom intuos) in this time aswell which may helped with the recovery.
But still the main help I guess was the Vertical mouse, and I am sure it will also ensure that the RSI doesn’t come back.

Den Vorgnger hatte ich bereits einige Jahre verwendet. Wie auch bei der neuen Maus war ich Anfangs voll zufrieden.
Die 4-er Maus macht einen besseren und qualitativeren Eindruck auf mich. Auch scheint sie mir treffsicherer zu sein. Rundum kann ich gut damit arbeiten, mu aber dazu sagen, dass der Umgang mit einer Vertikalmaus zunchst sehr gewhnungsbedrftig ist.
Bei dem Vorgngermodell sind nach ca. 1 Jahr immer hufiger Probleme aufgetreten, insbesondere das Scrollrad wurde sehr unzuverlssig. Bei dieser hier bleibt also abzuwarten, wie sie sich ber die Zeit bewhrt.
Bisher bin ich aber sehr zufrieden und kann die Maus in jedem Fall als Entlastung auch an “gesunde” Menschen empfehlen. Entgegen einiger Meinungen kann sie mit etwas bung auch zum einfachen Zeichnen eingesetzt werden (tgliches Zeichnen habe ich allerdings nicht getestet).
Noch ein wichtiger Hinweis: Unbedingt empfehlenswert bei dieser Maus ist der Einsatz einen kleinen Polsters am Unterarm / Handgelenk, dadurch kann das teilweise sehr unangenehme Auftreten von Druckstellen durch Auflage an der Handkante verhindert werden und macht die Maus auch im Dauergebrauch angenehm.

Bestellung und Lieferung, Qualitt der Ware vollkommen ok,. Allerdings hat die Maus nach ca. 7 Monaten im Einsatz nicht mehr funktioniert. Nach diversen troubleshoot Routinen Evoluent und PcSilent-Kundendienst zeitgleich angeschrieben. Evolunet Kundendienst (USA) hat noch am selben Tag (!) retour geschrieben, wollte Seriennummer wissen, etc., Ticket erffnet. Bei PCSilent hingegen bis dato (1 Woche danach) noch keine Reaktion. Scheint mir nach dem Motto zu sein, Kinde hat bezahlt, der Rest interessiert uns nicht mehr. Klare Absage, ist abzuraten.

Pour de la bureautique, c’est impeccable, je n’ai cependant pas test pour les jeux. Je suppose cependant qu’elle ne doit pas y tre super adapte. A voir.
I have severe nerve damage due to carpal tunnel because I used a computer mouse for over 25 yrs non stop until my left hand could take it no more. I was left handed but forced to use my right hand. I will never use another normal mouse again.
I am a avid mmorpg gamer and worried this would not work with the games such as rift, neverwinter, everquest 2 online games. I tell you it works perfectly for me.
I had no learning curve, all I did was download the drivers to use more of the buttons. The small fits my hand perfectly I wear a size 7 USA size glove. The thumb rest is so comfortable,buttons easily reached, along with the scroll wheel. I am giving 5 stars with my gratitude because of this mouse I can play my games again and use a mouse for work as long as the mouse is evoluent.
One word of warning the vertical mouse is large so do not think you can use a small mouse mat. I am back on amazon looking for a large hard surface mouse pad. I bought the kennsington wave that has red and black gel wrist rest. The pad is awesome and the mouse glides across the surface, but the problem is the surface is to small.
If someone could tell me which Mousepad they recommend with this that has a large surface I would appreciate it.
I am buying another evoluent today that is wireless, and one for my husband that is larger. Thank You again for in my opinion a perfect beautiful vertical mouse. One suggestion you only made a colored one in purple but I would also like to see the wireless come in different colors and sizes. I am going to try and use the left handed one with my left hand to see if I can use the hand again so I bought the left handed grey one even though I find the color boring. Mouse ergonomico verticale
Fantastico mouse ergonomico. Grazie alla sua posizione verticale lascia rilassati i tendini della mano e mantiene le ossa dell’avambraccio in posizione parallela e non sovrapposta, affaticando molto meno la mano.
Ottimo investimento per chi sta tutto il giorno davanti al computer. Si tratta solo di abituarsi alla posizione molto diversa rispetto ai soliti mouse, visto che ha tre tasti pi la rotella (in questo caso la rotellina non funge da pulsante centrale, bisogna usare il tasto a parte), ma una volta che si prende l’abitudine non si potr farne a meno!
This is the second Evoluent Vertical mouse I have owned and personally I can’t work without them. I don’t understand why this isn’t the generic mouse shape as it makes no sense to me to use a regular mouse where your hand, fingers and wrists are forced into a non-neutral position which leads to pain and injury.
Using the mouse and my Microsoft Ergnomic Keyboard for the past 7+ years has completely resolved my previous painful RSI symptoms from which I no longer suffer. If I use a regular mouse and keyboard I start to get the pain again within days if not hours!
If you’re in two minds because of the price, I say just buy it – you won’t regret it!!!!

Mir hat die Umstellung auf die Vertikalmaus extrem geholfen, nach knapp 4 Wochen Nutzung sind jetzt die Schmerzen im Arm deutlich reduziert. Die Eingewhnungszeit betrug ca. 2 Tage, danach nutzt man die Maus vllig selbstverstndlich. Ich nutze sie sowohl am PC als auch am Mac, die Integration am Mac ist m.E. deutlich besser gelungen (Es gibt brigens auch eine Bluetooth Variante exklusiv im MacStore, da braucht man keinen Extradongle wie bei dieser Variante)
Der Wireless Dongle ist die grte Schwachstelle, da er extrem fest sitzt und nicht an einem USB-Hub betrieben werden kann. Aber der wirkliche Nutzen der Maus ist die Entlastung des Armes und daher gibt’s dafr auch 5 Sterne.

Also my hand does not have to bend. I use this Evoluent mouse at work. I am a CAD operator.

Evolent Right Handed Vertical Mouse Review
I like it very much. However, I would have given it a higher rating if I had not had problems with the first one I bought. It stopped working completely and I had to go back to using a regular mouse until the second one arrived. I need this because I have RSI.
After starting to get significant pain in my wrist and arm using a regular mouse at work, my employer agreed I try this one.
It took me about a week to get used it, but the discomfort in my wrist & arm were completely gone within a couple of days, never to return. That was two years ago.
In fact I like it so much I have now bought one for use at home, which I should have done much earlier really.

Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich eine Vertikalmaus benutze. Ich hatte im Vorfeld immer wieder Schmerzen im Handgelenk bei lngerem Spiel. Ich bin sehr begeistert von der Evoluentmaus. Sie ist einfach im Handling, einzelne Tasten knnen sogar selbst belegt werden. Sie ist formschn und sowohl das Evoluentlogo als auch obenr ein grner Streifen sind beleuchtet, sodass die Maus auch im dunkleren Raum immer gut zu finden ist. Meine nchste Maus wird auch wieder von Evoluent sein.
Vertically (not) challenging
Fairly expensive for a mouse but still a lot cheaper on here than other places I looked for it. Took a day to properly get used to it but once you do it’s a very natural position, why on earth all mice arnt’ like this I’ll never know! Has also solved my arm ache problem, very happy :o)

Vertical Mouse - für gestresse Computerarbeiter eine echte Entspannung
Ich hatte eine Entzndung der Nervenbahn vom rechten kleine Finger bis hin zum Ellenbogen. Bei den normalen horizontalen Musen hob ich den kleinen Finger immer an. Und meine Entzndung hat sich nach Ausbildung eines berbeins im Handgelenk noch verschlimmert. Im Gesprch mit einem Bekannten kamen wir auf ergonomische Muse und die vertikale Version. Mit ihr bedient man die Maus nicht mehr mit einem um ein Viertel verdrehten Unterarm, sondern so, wie der Arm natrlich am Krper nach unten hngt. Und der kleine Finger glaubt auch nicht mehr sich dauernd nach oben heben zu mssen. Seit ich mit dieser Maus sowohl dienstlich als auch privat arbeite sind meine Beschwerden vollkommen verschwunden.
Diese vertical Mouse ist die tollste Erfindung seit es berhaupt Computermuse gibt. Bleibt noch zu erwhnen, dass man jede Menge Tasten hat, die man sich so belegen kann, wie die eigene Bedienungsbedrfnisse es erfordern. Absolut empfehlenswert !!!
Really really helps with wrist pai
I’ve had wrist pain for the last few years & it’s been getting worse. Taking extended breaks (several weeks) from using a PC / mouse helped but within a few hours of going back to using a mouse the pain was back.
A colleague recommended this mouse – expensive but after a day the pain was gone & hasn’t come back. It’s been 3 months now & I haven’t looked back.
It has lots of buttons which can be configured to replicate regularly used keys (e.g. default config for one button is double-click)
It’s a lot more expensive than a conventional mouse which is a pity but it’s a lot cheaper than several trips to the doctor, medication & other therapies.

I bought this mouse having suffered really painful neck and shoulder problems using a conventional mouse. It was very easy to install, just plug in and go. The mouse fits my hand perfectly, is very very light to use, and I got used to it within minutes. Looks strange but works wonderfully well! My neck pain has been greatly alleviated and I would highly recommend.
Review for vertical mouse
I bought this product as I have a wrist problem and was advised that using this mouse would keep my arm and wrist aligned in a good position. Since using the mouse, I have noticed significantly less pain in my wrist than I would have with an ordinary mouse. It is so comfortable and I got used to it very quickly. I particularly like the fact that you only need minimal movement of the mouse for optimal performance. I would highly recommend this product whether you have problems with wrist and arm movement or not.
A step back from the series 3
I, in general, love the Evoluent mice and won’t use anything else but the extended little finger guard means I’m forever pressing the bottom button (which in my configuration is browse forward) and the glowing Evoluent logo was so distracting that I eventually used a black marker to blank it out.
The pointer speed control, which I was concerned about hitting by mistake is entirely unobtrusive until required and the addition of a second, individual thumb button is a real boon.
Sadly the extended little finger lip makes using it an exercise in frustration for me so I’ve relegated it to emergency duty and gone back to using my series 3.
I like it BUT
I used my evoluent every day for about a year. Today it suddenly stopped working.
There is inadequate strain relief where the cable enters the mouse. Repeated flexing apparently cause the wires there to break suddenly, leaving my computer frozen. I plan to order another one and improvise some reinforcement in that area.
Fantastic mouse
I was starting to get RSI in wrist and having problems in shoulders too.
I bought the righthanded V4 (small) about 9 months ago and it has made a HUGE difference to my RSI – I have no pain now.
I have not had any issue with flaking coating, sweat damage or programming like other reviewers(although to be honest I don’t use the thumb buttons)
I find the three buttons and scroll wheel on the right hand fine for me.
The mouse now has a loose connection but I feel this may be my fault for dropping it on the floor recently. I don’t see any option other than getting a new one of these. The expense is worth it to avoid the pain.

This is the second Evoluent mouse I`ve purchased. Used one for a couple months at work and then bought the second one for home. After a few years of pain in my right wrist finally this mouse does the job. It is pretty good for everyday use and keeps the arm in a relaxed position – much less stress and strain than other mice I`ve tried – Intellimouse 3.0, Logitech MX-1100.
After the first day of using it carefully I noticed improvements – pain had minimized and wrist was still OK in the afternoon.
After one week I noticed that pain still can reoccur if I get tired and start moving the mouse using wrist instead of whole hand it was designed. Wrist has to remain still and fixed.
After one month I noticed that the joint between thumb and palm is hurting a little after I`ve spent hours leaning that place on top of mouse – the second problem when you get tired and start using the mouse in an easier but incorrect and non-ergonomic way.
The good:
*) It keeps palm in a vertical position thus relieving and almost eliminating pain in wrist
*) It works via USB cable so is pretty lightweight and does not put too much stress on the wrist
*) The residual on the outside of it can be easily cleaned and I find coating to be very good for everyday use.
*) The driver utility is good for assigning custom actions to buttons – like “Ctrl+W”, “Ctrl+Tab” and others. Drivers are very stable on Windows.
*) nobody messes with my workstation at work – people get very confused when sitting in front of such fancy mouse and Microsoft Ergo 4000 keyboard with almost blank keys 🙂
The bad:
*) The driver often goes crazy on my Mac ( Macbook Air ~2010 year ), causing 100% CPU usage by “EvoluentAgent” and I can watch the temperature my Mac going all the way up till the boiling point (100*C, ~212*F) where it reboots and remains terribly hot. Otherwise the driver works good – except this overheating thing. It happens even when mouse is not plugged in. It should be fixed in order to use this mouse on Mac with customized buttons. Once “EvoluentAgent” is killed, everything goes good right away, the temperature drops. Uninstalled the Mac driver instantly after the second overheating to avoid any permanent damage.
*) The button on top, right next to thumb gets pressed once in a while when grabbing the mouse. It should be more like “Logitech MX-1100”-style – a little smaller and harder to press. The same with the lowest button next to pinky – a little annoying while learning the correct way to grab a mouse.
The neutral:
*) Initially I was surprised to find out that the part next to pinky is actually the 3rd button. Didn`t expect that. It can be assigned a keystroke like “Ctrl+Tab” but it took a while to accept that this part is a button instead of a hard surface.
Summing up the points I give this mouse 4 stars out of 5 – it is very good and almost eliminates pain in wrist when used correctly.
This is the best ergonomic mouse I`ve tried. If you can cope with buggy Mac drivers and easy-to-click buttons then try a vertical mouse – for me it is very good.
Maus top; Software flop
Zur Maus gibt es nicht viel zu sagen. DIe Treiber-Software hingegen… Unter Win7SP1 jedenfalls funktioniert die Hlfte der Funktionen nicht. Die Geschwindigkeitssteuerung fr Przisionsbewegungen ist zu grob (ultra langsam, schnell, Lichtgeschwindigkeit). Die mittlere Maustaste funktioniert nur, wenn man sie auf die Hardware-Mitteltaste legt; die Mausradtaste kann man nicht verwenden, obwohl die Hardware die Klicks tatschlich meldet (lsst sich unter Ubuntu leicht nachprfen).
Ich hatte die Maus aufgrund Arm- und Schulterbeschwerden gekauft. Die erste Zeit verlagerte sich der Schmerz, seit Wochen ist er jedoch komplett weg. Die genderte Handhaltung bringt also offensichtlich tatschlich etwas.
Leider funktionierte die VM4RW an meinem alten Rechner nicht. Nach ein paar Sekunden blieb stndig der Mauspfeil stehen. Der Support antwortete prompt und gab diverse Tipps. Jedoch lag es wohl letztendlich an einer unberwindbaren Inkombatibilitt mit meinem etwas lteren ASUS-Board unter Windows XP. Unter Windows 7 mit einem anderen Board luft die VM4RW jedenfalls prima und ich mchte sie nicht mehr missen.
Like many other RSI sufferers, I spent a considerable amount of time looking into alternatives to the standard mouse. Although there are a lot of opinions out there, and different solutions that have worked for different people, I couldn’t find a definitive answer, and in the end opted to give the Evoluent product a go.
My first impressions were mixed, and for the first couple of weeks I was very concerned that I had made an expensive mistake. However, you have to remember that if you already suffer with RSI, then it is not going to disappear overnight! Also, you need to be very disciplined and ensure you hold this mouse as intended; it is all too easy to place your hand over it like a standard mouse.
Make sure you use the downloadable software to customize the buttons; there are a lot of very good options. It can be particularly useful to program one of the buttons to act as a ‘double click’ which cuts down the number of clicks you need to do. Also, be sure to set the sensitivity as high as possible. It take a while to get used to, but really cuts down on the amount of movement you need.
So, one month on? I am totally thrilled with this mouse, and my pain has pretty much gone. By week three, my pain was starting to subside and I was no longer requiring a daily dose of ibuprofen after a hard days computer work. I have gone from being in constant pain, to being virtually pain free.
This mouse will not be for everyone. Crucially, you need to be sure that your mouse is the primary cause of your pain, and not other things, such as your keyboard, posture, desk etc. Typically, mouse pain is noticeable by pain in your lower arm and/or wrist. But as part of an ergonomic solution in the battle to prevent or treat RSI, I heartily recommend it.

Was having problems with my wrist and shoulder at work as I spend 8-10h a day at the computer combined with a better posture have stopped the problem.
Is different to start with as your arm goes to a unusual albeit better position stick with it and you will be fine.
good ergonomic mouse
This is the second one of these I’ve bought. I’m not left handed but have to use my left hand for mouse work owing to previous overenthusiastic use of a small and especially unfriendly laptop years ago. The configuration of the buttons takes a bit of getting used to but becomes second nature after a while. If you’re a mac user, buy the steermouse application. This makes your mouse highly configurable and reduces mousing to a minimum.

If you are suffering from tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, repititive strain syndrome this is the mouse for you! In fact I have one for the office and home. I cannot go back to the standard mouse.
Ergonomie mit kleine Schwäche
Da ich wie so viele PC-User an rezidivierendem “Tennisellbogen” leide, musste eine ergonomische Maus her. Vieles, was diese Bezeichnung trgt, wird den Erwartungen nicht gerecht, denn dafr muss die Hand komplett anders auf der Maus liegen und damit die Unterarmmuskulatur auch komplett anders belastet werden, als dies bei Musen der Fall ist, bei denen die Hand mehr oder weniger von oben her aufliegt. Die Vertikal-Maus entspricht dagegen den Anforderungen und schon das erste Auflegen der Hand erscheint geradezu paradiesisch.
Doch das Paradies hat kleine Mngel. Die zunchst sehr ungewohnte Haltung fhrt letztlich auch zu Verspannungen, erst wenn man sich vollkommen an die neue Arbeitsweise gewhnt hat, ist der Mausarm wirklich entspannt. Bis dahin dauert es aber etwas, und in dieser Zeit knnen Schmerzen genauso auftreteten wie bei herkmmlichen Musen.
Weiterhin ist es sehr wichtig, dass die Gre der Maus zur Handgre passt. Andernfalls krmmt man automatisch die Finger beim Klicken, was erneut zu Verspannungen fhrt. Ich habe verhltnismig groe Hnde (fr eine Frau) und musste die Maus daher einmal umtauschen. Das S-Modell war definitiv zu klein. Die groe Maus passt nun wunderbar, allerdings befrchte ich, dass sie fr grere Mnnerhnde noch zu klein ist.
Den von einigen Usern beschriebenen Schwitz-Effekt, hervorgerufen durch die Daumenmulde, kann ich nicht besttigen. Vermutlich ist das individuell vom Hauttyp o.. abhngig.
Die Maus lsst sich in vielerlei Hinsicht den eigenen Bedrfnissen anpassen. Nach Installation der mitgelieferten Software knnen den diversen Tasten und dem Rad bestimmte Aufgaben zugeordnet werden. Auch die Geschwindigkeit des Mauszeigers oder Doppelklicks lsst sich einstellen. Es besteht u.a. die Mglichkeit, einer Taste den Doppelklick zuzuordnen, oder einen Click-Lock zu aktivieren, wodurch man z.B. bei Drag&Drop nicht die ganze Zeit die Taste gedrckt halten muss, wenn man etwas mit der Maus verschiebt. Man kann sogar eine Option aktivieren, die den User darauf aufmerksam macht, bei der Arbeit mal eine Pause einzulegen :-))) Insgesamt bietet die Maus zahlreiche Einstellmglichkeiten.
Es ist aber nicht zwingend notwendig, die Software zu installieren. Die Maus funktioniert auch so, lediglich die Programmierbarkeit der Tasten fllt dann weg.
Ein optisches Highlight ist die Vertikal-Maus sicher nicht, dazu ist sie zu klobig. Aufgrund ihrer Gre sicher auch nicht fr den mobilen Einsatz geeignet.
Und eines ist klar: Auch eine Vertikal-Maus schtzt nicht vor beranstrengter Armmuskulatur, wenn man zu lange ohne ausgleichende Pausen am PC sitzt.
Bei “Mouse-Arm”-Beschwerden (Schmerzen/Beschwerden in Finger, Unterarm, Ellenbogen z. T. bis rauf zum Schultergelenk) sehr zu empfehlen, da sie die Handhaltung im Vergl. zur herkmml. Mouse ndert und damit Spannung von den Sehnen nimmt. Allerdings ist sie gewhnungsbedrftig (1 – 2 Wochen), da sie relativ “klobig” ist – fr kleinere Hnde ist die auch etwas leichtere “Evolution SRM Feel 80” (meines=Frau Erachtens)besser geeignet. Wir haben seit lngerem beide Modelle tgl./berufl. im Gebrauch uns sind sehr zufrieden – Beschwerden haben sich deutlich gebessert, funktioniert super und ohne Probleme, edles Design und sieht interessant aus – hufigste Besucher-Frage der letzten Monate in unserem Bro: “Was ist das denn?” 🙂

Sitzt, passt und funktionie
Heute erhalten, eingesteckt, alles klappt. Die Maus ist sehr schnell. Nach wenigen Minuten Eingewhnung klappte alles bestens. Sie liegt sehr angenehm in der Hand. Besonders die Griffmulde fr den Daumen empfinde ich als angenehm. Ich hab sie zuerst mit dem Gelpad ausprobiert, finde sie aber besser auf einem normalen Mauspad.
Als Autorin hab ich lange gezgert, mir ein solch teures Teil zu kaufen. Die Arbeit mit der Maus hat mich aber berzeugt. Sie ist ihr Geld wert.
Wonderful mouse
This is one of the best mice I’ve ever used. No hand pain even after using it all day. The mouse has two buttons next to the thumb, three buttons on the face, a left clicking wheel all of which can be programmed with the included software (which can also be downloaded from the Evoluent web site). There is even a button to increase and slow down the speed of the pointer so you don’t have to open the software to do that.
My one complaint about this mouse is that while it has a zoom feature, there is no corresponding zoom out feature which makes increasing/decreasing the size of a web page rather difficult. I wish that Evoluent would program a feature similar to many Logitech mice, which assigns zoom and zoom out to the scroll wheel after clicking the wheel to either the left or the right. If the company would come out with new drivers to fix this problem this mouse would be perfect and worth 5 stars.

je fais l’acquisition de cette souris pour des problmes de douleurs dans les doigts. Je ne sais pas si ce sont mes sances de kin ou la souris elle-mme (ou les deux !!) mais maintenant je n’ai plus du tout mal au doigts.
Aprs c’est la socit dans laquelle je travaille qui me l’a paye, sinon personnellement je ne l’aurai pas achete car trop chre !

Nachdem ich mit meiner alten Maus mehrmals Schmerzen im rechten Arm hatte, wenn ich besonders lange am PC sa, habe ich verschiedene neue Mausformen ausgetestet: Touchpad, Trackball und die vertikale Maus. Schlussendlich habe ich mich fr letztere entschieden, da ich damit am besten zurecht kam. Ich wrde auch anderen empfehlen, im Elektrofachmarkt verschiedene Formen auszuprobieren, bevor man sich auf eine festlegt.
Ich hatte bereits gelesen, dass diese Mausversion fr kleinere Hnde eine gute Wahl ist und so ist es auch. Anfangs ist es sehr ungewohnt, die Hand hochkant zu halten und auch das Navigieren fllt schwer. Ich hatte auerdem das Gefhl, dass sich die Schmerzen des Mausarms in die Schulter verlagert haben, da diese damit strker beansprucht wird. Nach einiger Zeit hatte ich mich aber daran gewhnt und jetzt habe ich keine Schmerzen mehr und bin mit der vertikalen Maus mindestens genauso schnell wie mit der “normalen” Version.
Dass sich die Tasten so umfangreich belegen lassen, ist klasse. Ich habe die mittlere Taste mit einem Doppelklick belegt und mchte darauf nicht mehr verzichten.
Der Preis ist natrlich recht happig – fr mich hat es sich aber gelohnt.
Ich habe sie nun seit sechs Monaten im Dauereinsatz und noch keine Abnutzungen festgestellt.
By spending many hours working with a PC, I’ve recently developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome symptoms. Trying to find a solution; I’ve tried many devices including Apple’s magic Pad, Logitech’s 510, MX & G-700 as well as the Razer Naga. After a couples of weeks using each of these I could not perceive any reduction in pain. By opposition, after two weeks of using the Evoluent 4, my pain had reduced most significantly. It does take about a week to get used to the different grip of this “vertical” mouse but it is well worth it. I would strongly recommend it to anyone experiencing pain associated with CTS.
I would recommend downloading the most recent drivers from the Evoluent web site. Drivers are available for Mac’s. The software allows you to re-progam the 6 buttons on the mouse. On this topic I’ve noticed that the lower thumb button is often accidentally depressed when manipulating the device. To this end, I would recommend not associated any specific commands to this button.

It worked for me
I was getting terrible pain in my wrist and forearm using a traditional mouse so saw this possible solution and bit the bullet. It was odd at first but now I get no pain at all and have no trouble using it. Well worth the money.
I have been using this mouse for about 2 weeks now, and I love it!
The “vertical” concept does make a lot of sense, and it does work! At work everyone has been attracted to it, wondering how it works. At first you might find it odd and not the type of mouse you could use. But if you can get passed that stage, and give it a try, then you could see this is the way all mice should be!
Another sign of it being a superior kind of mouse is that after a day of using it you become used to its smooth control, and going back to your previous mouse, which you always thought was a pretty good mouse, now it no longer feels as good anymore.
My previous mouse was a Logitech M500. A pretty good mouse, just not as good.
The only problem I’ve found so far with this vertical concept, is that you might inadvertently lean too much on that spot on your hand near the wrist, the spot that has most contact with the desk, putting too much pressure on it. After a couple hours you can feel it. I’m hoping a gel cushion will alleviate this. Mind you, this is still preferable than twisting your forearm and putting that pressure on your under-wrist! Which is what happens when you use a regular mouse.
Bottom line, I would highly recommend it. And would buy it again.
Besser als erwarte
Liegt gleich gut in der Hand, hab mein Handgelenk verletzt und deshalb darauf umgestiegen, Handgelenk ist zwar wieder gesund, aber als ich auf die normale Maus zurckwechseln wollte, fhlte sich das so falsch an, dass ich dabei geblieben bin. Man ist damit nicht ganz so schnell wie mit einer normalen Maus, aber man ist wesentlich ruhiger und entspannter dadurch trifft man eher und “zappelt” mit dem Cursor nicht so rum, so dass man im Endeffekt die gleiche Performance erreicht.
Well put together, if rather expensive
The Evoluent vertical mouse is better than the competition, if rather expensive.
I use two mice, left and right handed, and have replaced both with Evoluent mice – recommended if working long hours, to allow each hand to rest. They are comfortable for extended use, providing a good hand position.
Including a hardware button to change mouse sensitivity is handy, and this works independently in the case of two mice, so one can be used for more precision if required.
The right-handed version works on a range of surfaces, while the left-handed mouse seems limited to felt-like mouse pads.
Poor placement of the additional buttons, which by default are set as back and forward buttons, can be a little annoying, as they are easily knocked when reaching for the mouse, but can be disabled.
Fantastic aid for any wrist pain from normal mouse usage
This is so comfortable for me. After typing and scrolling through a thesis I found my wrist was very painful and wondered if I could ever use a “normal” mouse again. This device has helped me get over the discomfort of moving the mouse completely.

On-the-fly DPI setting is great. Motion takes some getting used to at first and your pointer precision will never be as accurate and with a normal mouse. Switching/adapting between this mouse and a regular mouse is not difficult. Price is very high.

As a vertical comfort mouse, this is brilliant. With no arm twisting required to use the mouse, it is surprising how relaxing it is to use.
The only down side is Evoluent themselves: Their driver, which is required to use to lower left button, is dismal. The “middle button” functionality is broken and after a few sleep/refresh cycles, random button presses stop working. Evoluent do not respond to emails.
Vertical mouse
Very comfortable to use and fits a small woman’s hand perfectly. It’s worth using the re-programming facility to change the right click to the middle button rather than the bottom one, which is hard to reach. The only drawback is that it is easy to knock over, being vertical.
Having suffered with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) for over 12 years in both hands, I finally resorted to having open release surgery following the recommendation of my consultant. Following surgery, I was advised by my occupational therapist that I needed to review my ergonomics when using a mouse and keyboard. As a heavy user of a PC at work (I am not an IT professional, but use a PC a great deal in my job), it was recommended that I consider a new input device instead of the traditional horizontal mouse. Initially, it was suggested that I consider using a vertical mouse, such as the Evoluent. However, I decided to investigate alternatives before making a final decision. As part of this process I tried a Bamboo touch tablet by Wacom and the Logitech M570 trackball mouse, which were both very good. Not being a heavy graphics software user, and also being so used to using a mouse, I found the transition to a pen and tablet a little awkward. I also found the trackball caused me to develop a sore thumb. I then decided to investigate the Evoluent mouse and read the many reviews online. I also watched several YouTube review videos. Initially, I was put off by the high cost when compared to other ‘traditional’ mice. Finally, I took the plunge and ordered the Evoluent mouse from Amazon. I am so pleased I did. The mouse does exactly what it is meant to do – place your hand in the neutral vertical position. As I still have a fresh scar from surgery and am still very sore and tender, I have found the Evoluent mouse to be excellent and helpful when relieving the pressure on my carpal tunnel and the median nerve. The mouse is constructed of materials similar to a good quality mouse – but doubt it will last forever (nothing does!). I have also found the mouse simple to configure with the driver downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. It installed very easily on my Windows 7 x64 PC. My only slight issue is the bright Evoluent light and the green tracking sensitivity lights – but let’s face it, you don’t look at your mouse when using your PC. If you have TCS or RSI, don’t hesitate – buy one! I wish I had done so well before my surgery. Another tip, visit the Evoluent website before ordering to ensure you buy the correct size. The website includes a downloadable hand template that you can print out for the large mouse. This will enable you to confirm the correst size of mouse to buy. My wife finds the large Evoluent mouse too big for her hand, but it is just perfect for me. If you have multiple accounts on your PC, you may need to consider using two input devices to suit the hand sizes of all users. Finally, like all specialist equipment, it needs to be reduced in price.
This mouse is an elegant shade of metallic purple. It fits my partner’s small hand very well, and performs excellently as a mouse.
It can be set to various different resolutions. It worked well on my partner’s old XP Laptop and runs equally well on her new Windows 7, 64 bit computer. You can get basic functionality with the Windows mouse drivers, but it performs better and can be customised more easily if you download the correct drivers from the Evoluent web site.
It reduces the pain of RSI for my partner, and so was a very worthwhile purchase.
Great mouse
This product is a real saver of your wrist – the mouse is held differently from other mice, but I’ve got used to it throughout the first day and don’t want anything else since. I’m a heavy user as i work in Technology industry and in the past I suffered from pain in my wrist. This is now all gone after 2 weeks of using this mouse. On the downside, it seems that the previous version has somewhat a better grip but that might be just a feeling as I’m not using that one too often, only occassionally on my wife’s computer.
Just love this mouse, it is soooo cool. And my hand feels so much more comfortable.
I was especially pleased that I had a choice of sizes cos my hand is rather small and this one fits like a glove ! The speed of delivery was impressive too.
Wish I had had one a long time ago, it might have saved me from the very painful mouse injury i suffered (rsi) using the normal mouse for so long.

I have tendinitis in my right hand and this mouse is the best to prevent this problems to happen again. It is also very good when you are in pain since you don’t force any strange behaviour from your hand

I’ve had an Evoluent mouse at home and at work for quite a few years and I love it – I started getting twinges in my wrist but never since I switched to one of these mice (obviously YMMV, I’m no doctor). If anyone in my office starts having problems we get them one of these.
With the the “v3” mouse, there were drawbacks like sometimes the chrome could peel off (although not on either of the ones I use), and your little finger got dragged over the mousemat all the time. I’ve used a v4 for a couple of months and it’s a lot more comfortable with the little ledge but it’s too soon to say whether the chrome is more robust.
I was hoping that this would help me with arm problems that I have as a result of a neck injury.
Sadly for me it didn’t work and I had to return it.
Leaving aside my persoal difficulties with it I found the mouse very good. It was very responsive and precise and the (progammable) buttons felt very sturdy and long lasting.
I would hapily recommend this product to someone looking for a good quality mouse that eases the RSI that so many mice can bring on. My only regret is that it ddn’t work for me

Die Mouse liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Der Handballen liegt nun auch nicht mehr auf dem Schreibtisch auf und die Handstellung ist tatschlich wie beim Hndeschtteln.
Das Handling ist etwas gewhnungsbedrftig aber ich erhoffe mir durch die andere Armstellung durch das viele “Mousen” keine Schmerzen mehr im Arm.a
Leider scheift die Mouse nur sehr trge ber das Mousepad oder Schreibtisch was feines Mousen sehr schwierig macht,
aber man gewhnt sich daran!
Nachtrag: Ich habe bereits zwei dieser Muse im Gebrauch, daheim und am Arbeitsplatz, und meine Probleme sind viel weniger damit geworden.
Sind schon aufflligere Probleme mit dem Ellbogen/Arm vorhanden , kann diese Maus natrlich auch keine Heilung bringen, aber nach einer Schonzeit konnte ich damit wieder meine normale Computerttigkeit aufnehmen, und dies nun schon ber ein Jahr und ohne Probleme! Man sollte mit der Umstellung also nicht zu lange warten! Auch an das trge Bewegen der Maus habe ich mich gewhnt. Ich kann sie nach wie vor sehr empfehlen!
Nachtrag August 2014: Ich habe die Mouse nun einige Jahre tglich sowohl geschftlich wie auch privat im Gebrauch.
Mein Fazit: Ich hatte nie wieder Probleme mit einem Arm oder Ellbogen! Die beiden Muse haben sich voll gelohnt!
I thought nothing could beat the old Evoluent Mouse 3, but now I have the 4 – and it’s awesome. Everything from the slightly tweaked design to the purely visual back lit logo all scream quality. If you’ve ever suffered from hand, wrist or arm pain after mouse use, try this baby out.
Even if you own one of the other upright mice (mouses??) out there – including other Evoluent models – This one delivers on all those little things you knew could improve the others: Better pinky support so now no part of the hand touches the mouse-mat, extra thumb button (as a gamer this was the clincher!), improved contact points between mouse and surface, and better, on the fly access to the mouse DPI settings is a god-send for Photoshopping. Even the driver software is just packed with tons of options. I seriously can’t for the life of me understand why people use normal horizontal mice anymore with stuff like this out there.
Pros:
Good size for people with large hands (they offer a small size too, oh and left handers).
6 buttons make this a competitive gaming mouse.
Comfortable from the word go.
On the fly DPI settings.
Nice Rubberized feel on the palm.
Cons:
Not the cheapest mouse out there.
