I still need a part!
I’m pleased with my purchase, but also rather frustrated. Everything was pretty much a breeze, then one of the hydraulics didn’t work correctly and the back corner won’t shut all the way. I’ve since called the company to get a new set which still hasn’t arrived….I called back in April?! Tried again since and still hasn’t come through. It is currently keeping things dry, but it still won’t shut correctly. Please just send me the part.
Fantastic
The box is massive but easy to move single handed although probably easier with two people. All the parts are well presented and instructions are clear. I built it single handed in about half an hour.
We have had rain and no signs of leaks (unlike another box I bought from another manufacturer). The doors lock together with the lid to make it secure.
Great produc
Storing items happily
I have various Keter storage units, this being the largest. once you get over the fact they are made from a thin plastic and how sharp some edges can, it’s surprisingly fit for its purpose.
The storage unit is large and can fit small bikes(not large adult size). I use mine for a large petrol lawnmower, car parts, jet wash and various other miscellaneous items. Adding a shelf is a must to get the most out of the storage unit as otherwise you need to stack items ontop of each other to make the most of the height. This then in turn makes things harder to retrieve when needed.
The build was quick and straight forward, I done this inside and then took it outside via double doors. The item is very light when empty and can be easily moved around.
The item came with a broken lid, but with a quick email and pictures the company sent out a new one at no charge to myself. I have had the unit for over 6 months now outside and it’s been storing my items happily for the whole time.
Well worth i
This is just what I needed and I have been able to store more things than I thought likely. I assembled it within 2 hours, despite one mistake. The instructions suggest that 2 people are needed at one assembly stage, though it is sufficiently well manufactured that it can be assembled by one person. All the pieces are marked with identification letters.
The mistake I made, which is worth looking out for, is that I let the bottom door hinge slip out when I pushed the top hinge into the click position. It isn’t really possible to recover the top hinge without inflicting some damage to the top hinge surround, though it isn’t noticeable with the lid closed. Be more careful than I was and all will be fine.
If I had room in the garden I’d consider buying another to free up space in the garage.
Cleverly designed product, easy to put together. Two people are needed at a couple of stages, not because it’s heavy but it is big. A power screwdriver is a must. It does need a level site to place it on. While the base part is fairly robust it does flex and then the whole thing twists and the lid and doors don’t close properly when it is filled with stuff. If I were to get another I would try to devise some means of reinforcing the base so that it had more integral rigidity.
It is not a secure store and anyone with a gas blowtorch would be in it quickly. Think of it as a nicely designed shelter. Recommended.
What isn’t recommended is their customer service. One of the gas strut hinges had lost its gas so a replacement was sought. Firstly the telephone number on Amazon was wrong. It was 0121506008 when it should have been 01215060008. I hung on the phone in a queue from 13 to 2 when I was told that no advisor was available and was cut off. I emailed a request, no reply. I emailed again, no response. I filled in their on-line form, twice, no reply. Still waiting for the replacement or a reply 18 days later.
Update: In Telephone queue again, came down from 11 to 6 when suddenly an assistant answered, apologised for lack of service, blamed virus, part out of stock but found my original requests and it should be with me in a week. That’s better, finally!
Sturdy and practical
I use this shed for storing odds and ends in the garden. It is virtually waterproof, with only the strongest winds driving rain under the roof. The sides and base are totally waterproof.
It is made of heavy duty plastic, and clicks together nicely. It is advisable to have another person assisting in its assembly. Instructions are OK.
The locking system is excellent.
I got one of these from Amazon Warehouse that was supposed to be damaged. Having seen a few complaints from people who paid full price whose packages arrived damaged, I thought I’d be better off getting it cheaper (<98) and with the level of damage noted.
The one I had, had a broken fin inside the lid (not visible from outside, and no effect on function), and a slight buckle in the metal bar across the back which didn't affect the final assembled product.
It's perfect for what we had in mind. Assembly is simple, I had no assistance, even attaching the lid via the pistons, where the lid and pistons sat obligingly in place while I put in the screws.
Instructions show you need either a drill or an electric screwdriver, but I didn't have to use either, just an ordinary ratchet screwdriver. And I'm not particularly strong when it comes to putting in screws. I had some planks of wood used to add shelves, and I only used a drill to make pilot holes for that.
There were 5 spare screws supplied, I wish I had counted them at the beginning, as I also used two planks to make a base. There are screwing points in the floor section and it would have been easier to put them on right at the beginning.
I don't see the point of the padlock point on the right door, as you could still open the lid, and the padlock point which holds down the lid, closes and secures everything. Well as secure as possible in something made of plastic which you could cut through.
I've got all the stuff I need to store in it, and it does keep the rain out. My 2mx2m popup gazebo fits when folded up, along with a leaf vacuum. 2 chairs with cushions, with a fold-up table under the shelf I put in, with the weights for the gazebo under the chairs. I have two crates one on top of the other, and room for another foldable chair which is on order.
So we have a small back garden where everything can come out when we want to sit out there, and go away tidily afterwards.
I've marked it down on easy to lock, because it takes a bit of a pull/push to get a medium shackle lock through the hole, and it also has an extra locking point which is confusing as it locks the doors but not the lid!
Great product, speedy delivery
Placed order 8 June, email confirmed it would be delivered on 12 June, however, arrived 9 June. When it arrived the manufactured/build date was 7 June so it had literally just been made. Easy to assemble and is great for storing the cushions for my garden sofa and chairs. Not had to test the waterproof element as such as not been raining yet. Happy with service/delivery and product so far 🙂
Great looking unit but had a few issues with assembly
Looks great, sturdy when all closed up but looks quite flimsy when the lid and doors are open, time will tell how it stands up to the weather.
Assembly is a pain it would be so much simpler if the parts were labelled with stickers.
Problems with assembly I had:
1) When you attach the back, screw the bottom screws in first, I started in the top corners (as the instructions imply) which resulted in the bottom screws not lining up fully.
2) The lid hinge has holes for screws which are only just accessible when fitting, a long thin cross head screw driver is required for these two screws.
3) When fitting the plastic bolt in the bottom of one of the doors all the holes lined up but the screws will not go all the way in (tried electric screwdriver and manual).
Great!
Husband put it together for me, but he didn’t struggle and only needed a minor amount of help when putting the lid on.
TBH I can’t really comment on whether it is waterproof or not as we bought it to house the camping gear in the garage away from rodents. It certainly appears to be strong enough to keep the little blighters from eating the tent!
It’s very useful that the front and top can be opened to store stuff as it makes access so easy.
A faff to build, but great once on use.
This is our 2nd store it out max, they are very handy, maintenance free and large enough for our uses. This one didn’t come with building instructions so hard to get them online, no problem. The most confusing thing to put together is the back, why they couldn’t add some easy markings to show the way they locate, I’d also have some to hand so they can help ensure the sides are pressed in when put the screws in.
Great container, a faff to put togethe
Good Produc
Bought this to replace an aging wooden shed that has started to rot away. Didn’t need a full size shed so this was ideal for lawnmower, garden chairs, etc.
Unpacked items and read the instructions. Best advice is just take your time, the instructions are good and clear.
Would advise the use of a cordless screwdriver (not needed but makes it easier)
Assembled on my own and found easy to do. Once old shed taken down will get the next size up Keter to store bike.
One note on Delivery: Usually Amazon own delivery are excellent.
However, Amazon sent this through a third party service and took a lot longer than usual for next day delivery.
Still received in 7 days though.
Please with the produc
Ok for price.
Flatpack Instructions said 25 mins, so we allowed 2 hrs. It took well over 4 hrs in the end, but if you’re used to flatpacks you’ll be quicker. Straightforward really. It is definitely a Bit flimsier than I expected, but still good value for the price. It would have benefited from added cross pieces etc to add strength & stability. But yiu get what you pay for, generally. The piston thingies which hold the lid open are fine atm. The slabs in my garden are not completely flat so the lock won’t work properly as Everything has to be just right or the doors & lock don’t quite come together as they should. Likewise the base isn’t supported properly if ground isn’t flat so I have to make sure I don’t stand in it. (I’ll be levelling off the slabs soon.) Being plastic, it’ll be subject to getting brittle in the sun, so I’ll put a Small tarpaulin on top and weigh it down with A couple of bricks, Which will also help hold the lid down in strong winds especially while it’s still unlocked. But that’s all to be expected, especially with a plastic item. But delivery was a total nightmare. Hermes allow 3 attempts then they return to Amazon who cancel the order. Hermes sad they couldn’t get access on their first 2 attempts, which is total rubbish. I waited in, no one came. I then had a 2 hr email Live chat thing with Amazon Assistant (5 or 6 different people, which was Pretty poor) who said they’d chase Hermes. No idea if they did, but the 3rd attempt worked.
Inadequate hinges. 17 months and already snapped.
It’s a bin store, so I have one wheelie bin in it, plus a gas heater and a tub to collect glass. Have had it on my new, flat, driveway, for 17 months. A few weeks I realized the lid wasn’t closing flat at back left corner. The hinge wasn’t lining up correctly to close flat, either because lid has warped, or just a naff hinge. So today I was applying oil to see if it just needed oiling, and it snapped completely. So now can’t close it because there’s nothing to make the hydraulic rod go flat, so had to remove it. Hope it doesn’t get windy round here, because that lid will take off. This shouldn’t happen at just 17 months. No resilience whatsoever.
Sturdy, probably not the most secure
This is a good bit of storage in the garden for those who need it. Seems pretty sturdy and does the job we bought it for.
Only downside is (which wasn’t the primary reason we bought it) that it would be pretty easy to break into it as the plastic bolt (in theory) seems easy to break if forced – but I’m sure you’d go for something more tough/keep inside if it was valuable enough.
Not suitable to store high valued items
I only received this yesterday so I can only review my first thoughts and the assembly of it.
Firstly you will definitely need a power drill or a electric screwdriver else your hand will drop off with the amount of screws you need to fix as they are very tight to screw in by hand.
There is also one screw you need to fix that requires a long Phillips screwdriver as where it is positioned you cannot get to it and fix it square with a battery gun or conventional size screwdriver.
I read one review saying some holes didn’t line up but I had no problems and find it impossible how they can’t line up as all the panels are made from plastic moulds and should all be exactly the same.
I found the instructions clear to understand and it takes around 45 mins to assemble. One person can assemble it but it’s best to have someone to support the lid when fixing the screws on the hinges to the side panels as the instructions clearly states.
I haven’t put it to use yet but all in all it feels sturdy enough for my needs. I would not recommend storing items of great value and don’t fork out for an expensive lock as it’s only plastic. Anyone with a hammer would get into this no problem…so if you have items of great value I advise you to go for a metal or a quality wooden storage…this item suits my needs but I certainly wouldn’t pay over 100 to put wheelie bins in it as they like to promote it to do.
Good unit!
This arrived today and after my husband had been in the garden for about an hour and seemed a bit stressed I went out to help him. He’d actually done the bulk and I just helped him with the doors – which seemed straightforward. He said the screws supplied are too big and should be self tappers. But once built we were happy with the product and have loved getting all the stuff from under the stairs into it. We have every confidence it will do the job.
NEAT AND SMART LOOKING STORE A WAY
The screw holes weren’t pre-drilled and it took my son a while to put together. He tells me it is sturdy and it looks smart. I bought it to store my mobility scooter in and it fitted in nicely The first shed arrived damaged but the replacement arrived in 2 days and Customer Services helped me sort out the arrangements for sending it back. I was very impressed with the help I go
Bit tricky to assemble
Part of the metal slab for the back had been slightly bent when I got it unpacked, but it’s bendy so it did fit at the end. Need a power screwdriver to assemble it-don’t attempt without one. The second set of screws for the hydraulic pistons for the top cover need a planed approach or a smaller screw head of equal length. Have not seen it during a full winter to see how waterproof it is, hence the 4 star for it.
The finished article is grea
This took over an hour to assemble. Most of the time was spent trying to fathom out the instructions. In particular the metal bar going across the back at the top caused problems. There was no way that the holes in the bar aligned with those in the side frame you are meant to screw to fix it. In the end I had to drill two new holes through the metal bar. After that the construction was simple and I am pleased with the end result.
A nearby neighbour has one of these in his front garden. Walking by I noticed that he had botched the fitting of the metal bar – it was clear that he did not drill the extra holes. It baffles me how the manufacturers can get this so wrong.
I use this to store cushions from the patio furniture. It is easy to open and close and seems well weatherproof.
Makes a good waterproof log store.
Keter Store-It Out Max Outdoor Plastic Garden Storage Shed, Beige and Brown, 145.5 x 82 x 125 cm (L x H x W)
In the box.
You get the flat packet storage shed with all screws and instructions. You also get attachments to open wheelie bins as you open the lid.
Tools.
You will need a screwdriver, Philips crosshead and / or a drill with screwdriver function.
Quality.
It is only blown plastic but when assembled is quite sturdy and should last well.
Features.
Front and top opening. Will hold two wheelie bins. Lockable.
Assembly.
This was quite easy, I managed it on my own although it would have been faster with some help. Took me about 20 minutes.
In use.
I have used it to storage logs for the wood burner. It works well for that and keeps them stacked and dry.
Overall.
A better option for me than a wood-built log storage bin as this won’t rot like my old one did. Overall, quite pleased with it.
Just the job for storing recycling bins
Arrived with slight damage to underside of lid but not noticeable or effecting it’s use. Bought to store recycling and refuse bins. Suggests two person assembly but I only really needed assistance with assembling the lid. I liked the fact that it’s sturdy plastic construction means it’s not going to rust or blow away (unless it’s empty!!) But it can be bolted to the floor. Instructions were easy to follow and I was all done in about 45 mins. I also added two shelves bought separately but shown in the instructions as an optional extra. Very pleased with purchase, for extra security doors/lid can be padlocked if necessary.
Attractive storage
It took two people to erect this garden storage shed. Plenty of room required for this job. It is not a difficult job, but four hands are better than two. The shed itself is quite a good looking shed up against our wall. It has the lovely job of housing our unsightly recycling boxes and does this job well. I intend to purchase another to store the rubbish bin and other garden tools that clutter the place. If like me you are fed up of the unsightly recycling boxes and rubbish bins, get yourself a Keter storage shed. It does the job perfectly.
Check for cracked or damaged parts
I have 4 of these and changed the method of assembly to make things easier.
One came with a damaged lid.i contacted Keter, who asked for Amazon invoice and photo of damage.
I was sent a new lid which took nearly 3 weeks to arrive.
The hinges are the weakest feature as they bend too easily.Best to make sur they’re straight before fitting then fit to lid first and you can rest on top of box in position to screw in place.
Unfortunately the replacement lid has decided to bend like a banana, the only one to do so,so I put the old cracked one on,which has been fine.
I use 50 mm caribinners on the hook to the bins as they’re easier and neater than the chain.
Significantly better than I had expected...
Significantly better than I had expected, I had originally purchased this as a stop gap as I needed somewhere to put some of our ‘cherished possessions’ which had piled up in the garage; heaven forfend I wanted to put a car in the garage (I know right) so I had to have a plan! I purchased this unit and put it up in the garden, expecting it to be small and flimsy but once constructed I was very impressed. It’s a very good storage solution and it appears robust and weatherproof (and its had some South Wales testing). I’ve secured mine to a decked area, screwed through to the deck joist with a decent wood screw and sealed with outdoor sealant and it’s so far worked a treat. I will probably still get a ‘proper shed’ but I’d have no issues in recommending these units. My only word of caution is that some of the pre drilled elements didn’t quite line up but with the help of a spare pair of hands and a decent drill-driver it all came together very well.
Very satisfied with end result but recommend two people to assemble and using a powered screwdriver.
Dislike the fact that the rear bracing bar arrived seriously bent in two places. However, rather than go through the hassle of waiting for a replacement. my son and I managed to bend it back sufficiently straight to attach it as required. Would recommend two people to assemble and using a powered screwdriver as there are an awful lot of screws, some of which have to be ‘encouraged’ into place by creating holes for them. Like the way once assembled it’s a totally weatherproof, robust and solid structure. Using it to store garden related stuff, bags of compost, pots etc.
An excellent sturdy and water tight store with options of placing shelves inside.
Excellent size and easy to install. I would recommend two people in assembling. Although the store is sturdy I have placed a length of wood at the front to make the frame more sturdy when installing wooden shelves. I’ve purchased two of these: 1. Paint store. 2. Garden equipment.
The store has been through some heavy downpours of rain, I can say that the water tightness of the store is good. No water has penetrated so far. The unit locks well, you can use a separate lock, this requires a long and thin lever type to secure the doors from being opened.
I’d buy more and probably will as the shed starts to fill up.
“Take time to read the instructions “
Well it looked a bit daunting before l started – 3hours later it was completed
I’m a small lady in her best years of 70+ if l can do it on my own anyone can
I found it more fiddly than anything with all the holes to make before you can
can fit the screws ( it would have saved a lot of time if the holes had been pre-drilled
when they put the kit together ) the instructions weren’t very clear as you can’t see
the drawings very well – but l finished it and I’m very pleased with it job well done!!
A great little shed
A great quality outdoor shed, easy to assemble and sturdy.
We use it to store the kids outdoor toys. The closing doors and the liftable lid makes it handy to put in the bulky toys, shut the doors and then throw in the light things. It’s great to avoiding cluttering the shed.
The locking feature is quite accommodating, where we bought an option that came with a plastic coated padlock. The lock is effective and far more substantial than I expected but it probably wouldn’t deter a determined attempt at breaking in.
The lid has supporting arms so it never falls on your head or flaps around.
Good quality unit at a great price.
I bought this unit to store my lawnmower and outdoor hoover, they both fit in nicely with the grass box removed from the mower.
Only 2 problems with assembly, both down to design faults. The rear rigidity beam needs to be carefully aligned before applying the screws and one of the screws holding the roof hinges is difficult to install as its too close to the hinge. Two people are needed to fit the roof and don’t try tp assemble on a windy day !
The unit is both functional and pleasing to look at. The locking function is good but make sure you choose your padlock carefully, you need a long and wide shackle.
Good product, shame about the planned obsolescence
I felt obliged to purchase this to replace their previous model, for which the (specialised) hinges had worn out and broken. In all other respects the old version was still serviceable, but one door literally fell off.
Keter do not appear to make spares available at all, and I was unable to contact them.
This latest product does appear to be better designed, but the lock is awkward in use.
I certainly cannot recommend the company. I expect a great deal of their plastic products end up as land fill.
GREAT FOR OUTDOOR CUSHION STORAGE
I had looked at literally hundreds (and I mean hundreds!) of outdoor storage boxes to keep our garden furniture cushions in. We had new decking this summer and treated ourselves to a large circular sofa with a roudn glass table in the middle. Although the cushions are shower proof I wanted somewhere to keep them in wet weather and through the winter. Because there are four large ‘C’ shaped base cushions, six back cushions and a big circular center cushion (goes over the table to make a large lounger) nothing would fit them all in and be waterproof…until I found this Keter Store it. I think it’s really designed for a couple of wheely bins but it is super sturdy, holds all our cushions without squashing or bending them and IS waterproof! The last few days of torrential rain from hurricane Lorenzo have certainly tested it and nothing got it. Recommended.
Bloody heavy package
A much better, stronger storage box than my last one which was forty quid cheaper but was well worth the extra money I paid this time. A bit daunting for me trying to move drag it to where I needed it but managed, it us a slow two hours to put it all together, I am seventy and my wife eighty but managed between us. A great storage box and wish my first one was has good. Not worth worrying about potential thieves it would take me minutes to break into it if i wanted to, get an all metal one if storing valuable equipment inside.
Keter storage unit.
Having assembled a few of these keter boxes, I was surprised that the instructions have not improved by much, they still have parts that need a better explanation ie the back panel, and the foot bolt on the door. Apart from that it’s easy, well it’s all easy and took approx 30mins to complete. The design of the box has improved and it is quite sturdy when built, but it’s at the cost of size, and this is a few Inches smaller than the other Keters I have. It does come with extra bits for fastening the lids of wheelie bins up, and it has the places where you could put shelves in it, (not provided). How long it will last I think depends on where it is sited and how the plastic stands up to the UV before going brittle and breaks. A quality Keter box that does what it is made for. The only tip I can give is to build it properly and don’t cut corners and you will have a durable storage solution that lasts many years. Recommend.
Large waterproof ( for now ) storage uni
I like the Keter brand but as usual there were a few niggles one of which was the fact that not all screw holes had been pilot drilled so had to drill these out or use a bradawl to make a hole first because the screws would not go in by themselves. It definitely requires two people to build it and I had a mental picture of the woman who had left feedback stating she had built it herself and that she was in her 60s! Well done if this was the case and we’ll no doubt see her on “Britain Strongest Person” in the near future. Getting the storage unit out of the box required at least 2 people and I’d have been there yet trying to fix the back on to the 2 sides if doing it on my own! This is not my first Keter product and I built a shed myself and also a pent shed I built for my wife ( as a smoking shelter) and I did manage to do these myself apart from putting the roofs on. It has been built now for 2 weeks and is proving to be waterproof but as you would expect it does feel damp inside after it has rained. The locking mechanism I find a bit tricky but may become easier with practice. Overall though, I would recommend this item and the more the merrier to help you build it. On this build, because of ill health, I acted as foreman and read the instructions and pointed out the part required to two mates ( one of whom had already built one of these!) but it still took over an hour to build. Once built, it is quite sturdy and I am planning on adding a shelf or two eventually to maximize the storage area. I must admit we had a laugh building it and that was worth an extra star. If you are considering buying this, I’d recommend that you go for it. Also, this was the cheapest site that I found this unit other sites were charging between 20.00-30.00 more!
A good amount of storage
I found this storage shed fairly straightforward to build. Some drilling was required but this was easy enough to do. It overs a good amount of storage but, to make it totally watertight, you need to ensure that the back isn’t facing the prevailing wind, as there is a small gap (1-2cm) between the back and the lid. I have two of the storage sheds. One contains garden tools while the other contains loungers and cushions. The cushions have been double bagged to avoid getting wet.
Great when purchased at the special price like I did
I purchased this when they were in special at a fraction of the price that Homebase charge for a slightly smaller product.
Goes together easy. And is a nice small shed type storage box. I noticed that this can take two full size UK wheelie bins but I gotbthis to put the patio table and chests in together with the various tins of fence care etc.
Worth having. I might get another to use as a log store
I am a 79 year old lady and managed to assemble this all on my own.
I found this model has many different prices from under 100 to over 140. which was very confusing however going down the middle decided was the best option, It was easy enough to assemble and arrived far quicker than expected it was very well packed and the instructions were very easy to follow, I didn’t buy it for wheelie bins but to keep all odds and ends in, putting plastic shelving that can be moved helps and its amazing how much stuff it will hold, very pleased.
Keeps out the damp
I have two of these. One is for the cushions for our outside garden furniture. It can store a good number of cushions. The only thing you need to watch is, after rain, when opening the top water can drip down. My son put some tape across a couple of gaps (presumably for air) and this prevents it. The cushions stay dry and no water enters. Other one stores tools and compost etc. It has lasted well through all weathers. Nothing rusts or smells damp.
Good value for money for low value storage
I’d recommend this product as good value for money for low value storage
Pros:
– good value for what you get
– easy to assemble. I managed this on my own in about 2 hours, and I am terrible at assembling flat pack furniture. An electric screwdriver is essential. There is only one step where you really could benefit from a second person and I did manage this on my own.
– instructions are reasonably intuitive and the part labelling really helps.
– I had to call Keter customer service to help me with one step. They answered after a short period on hold (5 mins) and were helpful.
– is weatherproof and roomy
– option to have a lid or doors to open is really helpful
Cons:
– unit does feel a little flimsy. I think a committed burglar could probably get this open quite quickly so I wouldn’t store anything too valuable in here.
– there is one step in assembly which is particularly fiddly and caused me to crack the plastic, although not in a way which seriously affects it. This is when screwing in the floating hinge for the lid (screws must go in at an angle)
– there are 2 ways to lock it. One of them is almost redundant as even the long shackle padlock I bought was too small to fit.
Like a lot of other people’s, damaged by courier.
Good storage box for the price. Quite solid once constructed. Needs two to assemble and a power screwdriver to punch holes for the screws. Box delivered damaged, dent in lid, plastic shattered and a small hole. Annoyed because the packaging is inadequate to prevent this happening during transit. Decided to patch up the hole with plastic foam and duct tape. (See photo). Not ideal, but didn’t want to try and get replacement lid as I needed the box straight away, and other reviewers who also had damaged parts said it was difficult to get replacements sent quickly.
HUMONGOUS
I bought this to store all my very deep garden cushions as nothing else was big enough. Was a bit concerned as a lot of people had said about the base being broken on delivery. I had no such problems. You do need a drill to assemble and you need to make sure the back panel is lined up and properly fitted or it can throw the bracket out but so far so good.
I have put all my 8 chair cushions in and also 2 recliner long length cushions and there is still plenty of room for more. The grandchildren love it, as they have the top closed and the doors open and all their toys in it for a shady place to play. It has also doubled up as a changing room for when the kids want to go in the hot tub. All in all a great buy.
Good product - assemble fine but care needed
I bought 2 of these for outside storage. They do the job fine. The lids both seemed to have turned upwards a little at the edges – but have proven to be weatherproof.
I don’t think I would buy at full price which seems to be about 150, but when on offer are good value.
They are not large enough to store an adult bike, even with front wheel removed – so go for larger if you want to keep adult bikes in the storage box.
Look twice or you will miss i
Great storage facility that blends in to the surrounding garden colours. Fairly easy to put together. I sometime need three arms, but managed. Make sure that you really do keep all side as tight and square was possible before installing the supplied screws. Drill and power screwdriver on hand will help. Like the two tone colours. With the long throat Abus lock option locked upside down and weather cover applied, the whole unit is kept safe. Would be worth a series of them to accommodate a variety of appliances – with the shelf option, even more versatility.
Bought to store wheelie bins
The instructions were reasonably easy to follow, but ideally it needs two people to assemble it and certainly a cordless drill/screwdriver. It wasn’t completely clear in the online description but the kit does contain hanging chains and hooks for automatic lid opening. The opening mechanisms are far superior to the old ratchet type. My storage shed doesn’t lock, but that might be due to a slight error on my part, and given what I am using it for it doesn’t need to. At less than 100 it is very competitively priced and I would recommend i
Great Product, good Price - some problems assembling!
Most of the assembly was straightforward. Although would have benefited from written instructions and not just arrows. The metal rail at the rear of the box was difficult to line up with the screw holes and you definitely require an electric screw driver – we had to drill a small hole in order to give the screw a fixing before screwing it in. Also, a couple of screws didn’t connect with the fixing on the inside of the box. The piston hinges weren’t at right angles as shown in the picture; we had to contact a joiner friend who had a specialist screw driver because we were unable to access the screw hole on the hinge because the piston was positioned over the hole. The finished article was great, a good size for storing all the paraphernalia, cushions, throws, etc. required for a nine seat sofa set. Although the 2 longer seat cushions wouldn’t fit (157cm). Overall, it’s a great product and good value for money.
Need an electric screwdriver to build. One person build is ok
This was easy to build with an electric screwdriver. I built it alone in about an hour. The base it sits on needs to be absolutely flat otherwise the doors don’t sit together correctly. I could not put the base absolutely flat. So there is a little bit more movement in the box than there should be. It hasn’t rained since I bought it. So I don’t know if by not having it on a perfectly flat surface that it still remains waterproof. I will update this review once we have had rainfall. But I have bought a two swing garden hammock cover to put over it in winter to ensure everything stays dry inside
Fantastic storage - I now have 3!
First the price was great (99 at the time), and I’ve had one for 14 years with no problems. I moved and left that there so bought 3 more due to how impressed I have been.
I received mine without faults (I think drivers / delivery depots just throw them about and that’s how they get damaged). You need a screwdriver or ideally a drill. Most of it is clicking together but then strengthened with screws. I took me 1.5 hrs to put 3 together on my own (I am quite handy mine) but I feel the instructions are very clear and anyone could do it.
Surprisingly sturdy!
This was bought to give more storage for items currently stuffed haphazardly in an outside brick store. Glad I went for the larger size as the smaller one wouldn’t have been much good. Definitely a 2-person assembly job; this was achieved quicker than expected and the instructions were easy to follow (but beware the hidden component that others have mentioned – the instructions don’t make it very clear where it is!). On completion the unit is very sturdy – not at all like DIY wardrobes that always seem rickety – and overall I am very pleased indeed with it.
Looks good, tricky to put togethe
I managed to put the storage shed together myself without too much trouble. The hardest part was slotting the rear panel in, making sure the top and sides of the unit fitted over the panel. Also the panel is in 2 halves and one panel is reversed above the other to fit together. There are a multitude of screws to fix the back panel which I didn’t totally use as there are no screw holes and screwing was too tedious. The bolt was a nightmare to fit together and I trapped my finger giving a good blood blister with almost a cut. The hinges have 2 screws each but one screw is impossible to get in because of the angle so I didn’t even attempt it. Hoe we they seem to hold well. The lid sometimes needs a bit of a push down and the bolt mechanism for the doors and lid is difficult to slide along and I think it’s too much trouble to actually lock it.
Purchased 3rd one, came with damaged door. Contacted Keter services by email.
I am going on to 83 years of age and had no problems assembling this in about 2hrs, by myself,
opening and checking items, reading instructions took approx. another 30mins.
Look @ the diagrams and follow them precisely, and you will be o.k.
Yes, you have got to drill holes, so no big problem, as for security if that was foremost then I would
not have purchased a plastic item, the only problem was that the rear crossbar was missing, informed Keter,
and made a temporary one myself, to complete the project. No big deal.
I was a builder for over 50 years, could be that I am used to adapting.
5 stars even with a missing part.
Another Great Keter Product....garden storage has never looked so good
Having purchased other Keter Prodcts in the past, we needed more sorage for childrens outdoor toys like bikes, scooters and allthat sort of stuff. Of course it is meant for hiding away Wheelie bins, but we dont have a need for this…that said If we did this would be a pretty good solution.
As with most Keter Products, it comes flat packed to be built. I’m a big Lego fan so was more than up for the challenge…and it was built by just myself in under an hour.
When built is is nice and sturdy and now looks great in the garden and is keeping all ther stuff inside clear of the Elements. Whilst I probably owuldnt pay the RRP for this, for the Price I paid (85ish I think) its a great purcahse and worth every penny. The addition of a locking slot is great as well altought we dont use it in our back garden.
2nd purchase and it STILL came broke
The 1st one of these i bought came badly broken, but amazon kindly let me keep it and was refunded in full, but as the broken one would not do for purpose i ordered another, alas this too was broken but at a part i could tape up so its doing ok. When the package for the second one arrived it had a hole in it like it had been kicked at some point…there boxes are great …hold a lot and decently sturdy, takes a wee while to assemble, but worth the effort, just not sure about buying them online again.
Good product Rubbish Instructions.
You’ll definitely require a battery drill / screwdriver with a crosshead bit and a crosshead screwdriver with a long shaft to tighten the screws on the gas strut hinges on the lid and an extra pair of hands to hold everything steady while you tighten the screws.
There’s a black metal bracket that is used to stiffen the top of the back panel, I thought it was missing but in fact it’s hidden in the Base and needs removing prior to assembly.
The most confusing part of the instructions is how to assemble the two halves that form the back panel, once you’ve figured out what they’re trying to show you its plain sailing, but non of the holes are pre drilled and this is where the powered screwdriver and the extra pair of hands comes into play.
Once assembled it’s well made and robust, there are two short chains that attach to the bin lids and lift them when you open the top of the store which is useful, my only other observation would be it really needs to be on placed on an even surface or the doors won’t open properly.
Perfect for what I bought it for – keeping the bins with the bird food in (and getting them out of the garage where they were attracting mice). I put it together by myself without any great problems – aided by an electric drill-driver. (I’m female and over 60 – but a lifelong gardener and therefore no weakling.) You COULD put the self-tapping screws in using just an ordinary screwdriver – but I tried it, and it’s hard work. So I drilled a small hole first then drove the screws in – that way you can make sure they go in straight. The trickiest bit, if you’re by yourself, is attaching the lid – but it’s well-balanced and obligingly sits there while you fix the screws.
The instructions which came with it were accurate and concise once I’d taken the trouble to read them carefully, and the illustrations on them clarify any queries. (Warning: the back panel does NOT go together the way you think it should – look carefully at the illustration!) A strong wrist – and the courage of your convictions – is required to get the click-together pieces seated properly. The end result is substantial, but would not suit anyone who is looking for either a secure lock-up or completely weather-proof storage (there is a gap at the rear, where the lid meets the back panel).
All in all, I’m happy with my buy. It does the job I wanted it to do, and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.
Roomy and then some - beware the instructions
Well, we’ve had a lot to do since our move and only got round to putting this together 10 months after we purchased it! Apart from the odd bit of sprue that you may need to take a stanley knife or similar to, it is very well made. The back does seem a bit flimsy, however the metal bar that fits across the top of it & once the lid is on make it more robust. We abandoned the instructions (pictoral) when it came to fitting the top & the hydraulic hinges. The picture shows one person standing at the back holding the top at angle while another kneels inside to fit the screws. Absolutely impossible (I’m 5’10”). You would need extending arms and eye balls that come out on stalks in order to hold it steady and see what the other person was doing! Commonsense prevailed and after we closed the hinges, put the lid over the top together & then standing at the front to hold it so the holes were in alignment it was sorted in moments… As it was constructed indoors manouvering outside was a bit cumbersome so if you can do it on a warmish, dry day in situ that is probably the best. We are using it to keep our recycling in and garden stuff but you could quite easily store garden furniture or a big barbecue or the family bikes in it. Good purchase.
Few hours to set up & Heavy package
Delivery was speedy. My only consideration about the package is NOT SUITABLE FOR ONE PERSON TO CARRY. It is all in ONE pack and it is 30 kg!!!
*30 Kilograms
*4 st. 10 lbs. (Stones/lbs)
*66 lbs. (lbs/oz)
I have BADLY INJURED MY BACK because of this parcel even I had big support from my partner to carry together.
Be very careful!
One metal piece was damaged, but we did manage to bend back and used. (Aluminium part for the back).
It took almost 3 hours to set up all with the manual equipment. Everything was written and marked on the panels, so it is easy.
I think plastic is not so strong. It is easy to place a screw to make a hole and felt like can break in a few years. Hope not!
Overall, it is looking good and very spaceful.
I have got great customer service support from Amazon team on my queries.
I do suggest the product to all. 🙂
Good value storage solution for the price
May I say that I am pleased with my purchase and regard it as a cost effective solution to my outdoor long term storage requirements (paid 95). I have only had it assembled and in use for just over three weeks, however in that time so far there is no sign of water or insect ingress. I have it installed against the side wall of my house partially protected by the eaves overhang (Chalet style house). It arrived on time with no signs of obvious damage to the packaging. However on opening up I noticed a broken part rattling around. Couldn’t initialey identifyn where the was from but turned out to be part of the lid where the side trim screwed into. Decided to repair this rather than go thru the hassle of asking for a replacement as it is not a part that is normally stressed unlike the hinge fixings. Repaired with ETHYL2-CYANOACRYLATE (High Viscosity Superglue, brand Soudal) and reinforced with some of the plastic package strapping, so far so good. Assembly can easily be done by one person provide the instructions are followed. Screw the hinge assemblys’ to the lid first by hand. The supplied screws are self tapping so you do not need to pre-drill any holes, you do however need to get them right first time. I screwed them all in by hand so that you can get them straight and true and not over tighten them (very important). If you must use a power driven screw driver set to slow speed and low torque. On hindsight it would be a good idea to pre-drill the holes in the two part back panel for the screws that attach the assembled panel to the rest of the unit otherwise the back panel will tend to distort and pull away from the unit.
Better packaging would help
Received item in a perfect box. Opened box roof section damaged and one door badly damaged. Roof section had a few bits of plastic snapped off underneath, not a problem. Door was cracked and had a few pieces broken off. Assembled unit and glued door temporary. Contacted Keter on their website regarding damaged part, two weeks later new door arrived wrapped in thick bubble wrap in perfect condition. Cannot complain about customer service. Unit very good, simple to put together, quite sturdy and watertight. Could do with better packing in the first place.
Effective additional garden storage that keeps contents safe and dry.
This self assembly container was purchased to store the summer garden chairs, parasols, tent and camping stuff. The box arrived with the flat pack of pieces, one of which had been damaged in transit. There were clear instructions on how to report the broken item to Keter the maker and the service was excellent. The replacement arrived a few days later whilst being kept informed of progress via email. The container has been up and doing its job for a few months now and it has kept its contents, safe and dry throughout. The hydrolic lid works well and with the 2 front doors opened out its very easy to store and access items.
I now have 2 of these storage sheds.
Both of the sheds arrived in great condition, nothing damaged. They are packaged well, similar packaging to a large TV.
The first one took just over an hour to assemble using the instructions provided, the second one was done in 30 minutes.
Most of the panels just clip together and self tapping screws are used to secure the panels. As a few of the reviewers have mentioned, most of the screw locations do not have pilot holes, however the screw areas on the panels are clearly marked to indicate where the screws are to be driven in. I used a low powered Bosch electric screwdriver to drive the screws in.
In all honesty I think without the electric screw driver things would have been far more difficult, driving the screws in by hand would have been a nightmare.
We had some serious wind and rain the other day and as far as I could tell no water got into the shed.
Once I had sifted through the many reviews of this product, I decided that this was the product that I needed to replace my rapidly deteriorating wooden shed.
The product arrived on time and in good condition.
It is at this point I should point out that a lot of the negative reviews are down to problems incurred during delivery such as damage in transit rather than a review of the product itself.
In total, it took 2 of us approximately 2 hours to assemble, The diagrams were fairly straightforward to follow so long as you study them carefully.
We checked that we had all of the components and set to work. The fact that all the screw were all the same helped!
A few things to be aware of:
*Make sure that you have this standing on a level surface.
*When screwing down the lid pistons(?) do the back screws first as you will need to lift the front of it to get access to the back screws.
*You don’t actually need a drill or electric screwdriver but it will definitely help. Whilst there are not any pre-drilled holes, where you need to place the screws, they are well indicated. Just make sure that you have lined up the holes correctly and take your time to make sure that the screws go in straight.
I opted to use washers in a few places but that is up to you.
*One person could assemble this on their own but 2 people will make it easier.
*Remember that this product is plastic so do not over-tighten the screws.
The product is fairly light but I found this an advantage as we were able to turn the whole product around and over and this made it easier to fit some of the screws. Once the container was filled, it was very sturdy.
The hook and chains are a nice touch if you are storing your bins in here in that the bin lids will lift when you open the container lid.
Overall, a very good product in that it is well made, sturdy and good value for money!
Beware part 'BM'isn't missing
OK really. You get what you pay for and it’s certainly pretty plasticy but it does the trick as long as high security is not needed. We easily managed to keep an adult bike in it (after taking off the front wheel) and quite a lot of other things that has helped to de-clutter our utility room.
The only confusion we had in its assembly was thinking that part ‘BM’ was missing. I phoned Keter and got a ‘oh you as well’ – basically the piece is embedded in the bottom of the bottom panel. Although the box is OK without it, it will be stronger with it and we may need to get it out, which will mean emptying it dismantling much of i
Great waterproof outdoor storage solutio
Really happy with this purchase… so far! Fits all of our cushions for a large 9 seater corner sofa and dining table, plus 4 outdoor large camping chairs, plus two sun-lounger cushions and a large umbrella. Perfect! So far it has kept the water out. This means we can use our summer house again instead of it being just a home for cushions. It was fairly straight forward to put together, a second pair of hands was useful but not essential. My only gripe is that I will need to get a different padlock as the standard length ones don’t fit, it needs a longer fastener. I will only need to use the padlock to secure the lid against storms etc. I recommend this purchase.
Good quality garden store - Perfect for storing my petrol lawnmowe
I purchased this garden store for my petrol lawn mower and accessories. It arrived well protected in a strong cardboard box. Individually the components are lightweight and easy to handle. The booklet diagrams are fairly easy to follow and it took my husband approx 2 1/2 hours to assemble. Had we had an electric screwdriver to hand the assembly time would have been shortened greatly. All components slotted together brilliantly (46 screws holding everything in place). The finished garden store looks good – I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this product.
Great storage box for garden furniture
Decent size storage and reasonably easy to assemble. I would recommend an electrical screwdriver when putting this together as there are lot of screws to insert. The instructions recommend two people to put this together but it is not difficult to do this on your own as the sides simply lock into the base and then the back can be fitted in. The back had to be pushed in to the slots on the sides very hard while assembling, As the store is soft plastic the ground needs to be very flat and level or the unit will twist preventing the doors from aligning properly.
As usual, the delivery was at light speed and the price was extra special from Amazon. Having used Keter kit before I was expecting an easy time building the unit and this Store it Out Max didn’t disappoint. I watched a Youtube video before starting so I was au fait with the procedure but it was still a doddle to put together. The unit really is BIG and suits my use as the perfect housing for my DIY BBQ cart. The sloping front edge of the base is a nice design feature to aid pushing heavy, wheeled units into the shed. The gas filled dampening pistons on the roof hinges make for smooth and easy opening and closing. I can heartily recommend this Keter storage shed.
Had a little hiccup from him indoors. He thought a part was missing. Angel was exceptional in the way she talked us through a refund, return and reorder. Then him indoors found said part. Hiding in the base. He still thinks it’s the manufacturers fault for hiding it. Bless…. Angel then had to undo all her hard work… which she did gracefully.
As for this item….. we ordered 2.
Each one fits 2 x 240L waste bins in. We have 3. So had to order 2. All Looks so neat and tidy. No more looking at messy bins. Yeah….
Easy to put together, works well, looks pretty good. Very light so should be fastened down.
This was extremely easy to put together. It recommends two people for a couple of bits (fitting the lid mostly), but I found that it fits together so nicely, you can do it on your own.
The only problem was that you can’t fit the screws for the hydraulic hinges straight, as the body of the hinge blocks where the screwdriver would need to be. Still, I found with those screws put in at a slight angle, they are still very solid.
The whole unit is very light, which makes it really easy to move into place – but I would also strongly recommend that it is fastened down. The wind would move this pretty easily.
The instructions suggest screwing down through the floor, but I found the rear wall is flexible enough yet strong enough to screw it to the wall behind (although be aware that you need a couple of inches behind the unit to allow the lid to open, so I had to use some wood spacers where I fastened it).
It’s all plastic construction, so while you can lock it, if someone was determined they could break into it pretty easily. Bear this in mind if you’re intending to store something valuable.
Good enough to buy two
I liked this product so I bought another for additional storage. It’s amazing how much you can store in them and they appear to be completely weather proof, the first I found tricky to assemble because I was trying to do it on uneven ground. The second storage bin was really quick and easy. I managed to break the catch on the lid when my padlock got rusted in place filled in an application on their website and a free of charge replacement arrived within a week. Very impressed with this service so would recommend this product.
Absolutely perfect for my needs, to store the BBQ and a Keter, BBQ side table. Roomy enough for a couple of folding tables as well. The sloping front to the floor is a boon getting the BBQ wheeled out, a definite ‘plus’.
Having read some of the 1 & 2 star reviews I was a bit apprehensive about putting it together, whether it would arrive broken or whether it was sturdy enough, would it have instructions. I needn’t have worried, it was well packed for transit and arrived safe & sound. It is more than sturdy enough, in fact I consider it to be well made. It was very easy to put together, didn’t really require two people, managed on my own inside 30 minutes. An electric screwdriver/drill will be a great help. The pack is heavy though and you might need a second person to carry it in. The guy who delivered mine was helpful and took it through the side gate into the garden. The instructions were in the box and easy to follow, just make sure all parts are fully pushed home.
No grumbles about it, no problems with it, very happy with it. It is not ‘burglar proof’ (but what is) even with a padlock but it isn’t really designed to be. [I have a set of chains for lifting wheelie bins lids if anyone is short 🙂 ]
Keter Store-It Out Max Outdoor Plastic Garden Storage Shed, Beige and Brown, 145.5 x 82 x 125 cm
Surpassed expectations. Well designed and solid construction.
Surpassed my expectations. The instruction leaflet is very clear, and all the parts fit together perfectly. A philips screwdriver is all you need. There is no necessity to drill at all. Easily assembled by one person. When you screw the telescopic hinges to the lid, it can sit on the shed sides while you screw it down. So easy ! Just take your time and follow the diagrams stage by stage. Just check you have the doors the right way round when you fit them to the sides. Getting these the wrong way round can be problematic. Just always check carefully the diagrams. Nicely made, and there was no water ingress after its first night of heavy rain.
1 piece at a time!
Not at all happy that one of the panels ( the lid!) Arrived in the box broken!! – a packing slip inside the box said ” in case of missing or broken parts, do not return to supplier, contact customer services”. Which i did via “Ketors” website, and heard nothing! 3 days later i rang customer services, and when i told the chap that i had logged a complaint on the website he said ” oh we have’nt seen that!” But he did say he would send a replacement out in the next 7 – 10 days? And 9 days later the part arrived, and the storage shed is now complete, and im quite pleased with it?
worked out for us but was a pain to put together-- needs drill. 2 person job
We bought this shed to house our outdoor cushions and it was the biggest we could find. We were worried about the quality control issues mentioned in other reviews, but took a risk and received a product without defects. Putting it together was a really annoying and confusing process at the start, but it gets clearer as you go. You absolutely will have to drill or brute force your way through most of the attaching surfaces because there are not many pre-drilled holes. There are at least 16 large screws for the back alone so charge your drill ahead of time.
It took us probably an hour to finish building it without a drill, but we had blisters. It works well and keeps the water out.
Needing some additional outdoor storage this Keter product looked to fit the bill, there’s a smaller one but the costs weren’t far apart so plumped for the Max. It arrives in a large box (as you’d expect) which is 28kg if I remember correctly from the packaging, I was able to move it myself but as it’s heavy and cumbersome you might be wise to have another person on standby. I decided to be organized and lay it out on the lawn to check the parts were all there, some are much more clearly labeled than others so a bit of guesswork was required. Assembly should be straightforward but for one thing, most of the locations to put screws through have no element of pre-drilling, they are marked so you know where they are but with no starting point to perforate the plastic you have to press firmly to get the screw through, easy with solid material but the back of this unit is pretty flimsy and you have to join two parts together, this made a 10 minute job (needlessly) much longer and also resulting in near injury and much swearing. The only point on the instructions marked as a 2 person job is putting the lid on but I found this easy to do myself as you can rest it on the arms before attaching the screws. I was tempted to knock a couple of stars off due to the needlessly tedious assembly but I’m very happy now complete so I’ve only knocked one off.
Excellent product. Just a couple of quick tips
Excellent product. Just a couple of quick tips. 1) Pay attention on the arrow which is on the part for the back and make sure that you will follow the instructions. Follow the direction of the arrow otherwise the shed will not be water proof anymore.
2) make sure that you have battery or electric screwdriver, there are a lot of screws and at the same time you would need to drill the plastic while you screw them.
3) keep your screws straight when you will be screwing them down, otherwise you will damage the shed.
4) keep in mind that it will take more than 10 minutes to assembly.
HAVE FUN!!!
Good construction, easy build
Very impressed. It’s really cleverly designed which makes it so easy to put together. I did it on my own in about 40 minutes, and i’m not great with stuff like this. Instructions are really clear and simple to follow, no head scratching, no guess work, no swear words.
I’ll see how it does in the rain, but the construction of it suggests it will be completely watertight. Let’s see if the spiders find a way to get it!
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another. After wasting money on a cheap wooden shed a couple of years ago, i’m now an enthusiastic convert to this type of garden storage.
Ideal low maintenance garden storage
Bought two of these to replace a disintegrating wooden shed and I’m very happy so far. They appear sturdy enough and can hold a surprising amount of kit. It’s rained a few times since I built them and both are dry so that’s a plus. I built them both myself using only a screwdriver and a battery drill with screwdriver bit. I’d advise anyone looking to build one who doesn’t have a power driver or battery drill to ensure you have access to one prior to starting a build – it will be your best friend. 2 hours to build the first from opening the box to finished plastic shed and 1 hour for the second because I knew what I was doing.
Handy storage
Very useful outside storage for things I don’t want in the sheds. Easy enough to assemble alone but take a look at the online instructions as you can blow them up to see better. (Available on keters website)
As said watch out for the metal bracing that needs to be removed from one of the pieces, the instructions show this on the first page.
Screw holes are not pre drilled so a small drill bit will help you pilot drill the holes.
Lid was slightly damaged on arrival but did not affect the structure at all. This is dissapointing as others have said, seems to be a common issue.
Effective Storage Unit for Garden Equipme
I’m not particularly DIY skilled, but I managed to assemble the Keter on my own without too much effort. One thing I would recommend is to get yourself an electric screwdriver if you don’t already have one – this will save a lot of time and effort. The unit itself is sturdy. Instructions are almost entirely pictorial, but as long as you take your time they are reasonably easy to follow. Also get a suitable long-barrelled padlock – this will enable you to lock the doors and lid.
It started raining just as I was finishing assembly, and the downpour continued all night. The inside of the storage unit was dry the next morning, so this is encouraging.
Overall I can recommend the Keter.
Returned original and Amazon returns were amazing (as usual). I’d organised the return (the original was obviously damaged the second I opened the box) and afterwards found out that the manufacturer, Keter, ask that you don’t return the item if any parts are broken. I think this should be written on an email upon purchasing, as I had no idea.
Hmmm… I’d suggest that they package their items more securely. There was zero padding in the boxes.
Delivery was spot on, thanks Hermes, and the second item was received undamaged.
Put together in an hour or so, by myself, and not with a powered screwdriver. Definitely recommend using an electric screwdriver because the screws are self tapping and it hurts doing it manually (ooer).
So, all put together and it’s actually quite good. A little flimsy, but the lid will most definitely remain shut, even in heavy winds, and it is actually better than I expected.
Super Storage out of doors
This was quite easy to assemble. Due to the time I had on hand I did it in three separate days. Took about 3 hours in all to assemble. It is waterproof and well made. I wish I had more room for another, it is great for my storage problems. The lock recommended by Amazon had a short shackle, be certain to order one with a long shackle or else it cannot be locked. Initially I used one of the short chains which came with the lock, and managed to secure the doors. Very pleased so far, and delivery was fast.
I recently moved into a smaller house and the shed was full without hardly opening the door.
The things that I tend to use the most have pride of place inside this behemoth.
The quality of the whole store is what you would expect from a reinforced plastic.
Assembly is easy as long as the instructions are followed and takes about thirty minutes. I recommend two people and I did it with my boy.
The finished item is pretty rigid and strong due to the reinforcing that is built into the structure.
I chose to use the Abu’s marine quality padlock and unfortunately you are securing a plastic mechanism which is the weak part.
My box is stored in the garden and fortunately my insurance covers this as long as it’s been secured.
The whole item looks good and due to the simple colours does not stand out like a sore thumb.
This heavy duty easy to erect Keter outdoor store is excellent, accommodates two large wheelie bins comfortably and looks like it’s built to last come rain, ice or UV rays. Light and easy to slide into position once constructed – Did it myself !
My only ‘gripe’ and hence a 4 not a 5, is the ‘manipulation of the price. One minute it’s 99 then it’s 114 then it’s 160 then it’s 99. The product is excellent but my advice is wait for the ‘value’ price and don’t get caught out.
Great size and very neat looking storage solution for my smallish garden. Fits two fold up bikes with room for some smaller items to fit around them. Was reasonably simple for my partner to assemble – took him roughly 1.5 hours (this may have included a coffee break). It is water tight and has a place to fit a padlock for security.
Like I said I managed assembly by myself but I ...
Bought this to get the mower etc out of the garage. Put it together myself in about one and a half hours after first identifying all the parts. Please note that the bottom door lock in the right hand door comprises of two parts. Both parts were assembled upon opening the box which caused a bit of confusion to begin with. The other little test by Keter is hiding Part WLBM within the base. Look for a red tag and you will find the errant part. Like I said I managed assembly by myself but I would only attempt it in low wind conditions because the side and back panels are like sails!!
A bit of advice to save aggravation and possible damage. Use a small diameter drill bit to pilot drill the fixing points and I’d avoid using a powered drill to tighten up unless you turn the torque right down. Remember you are fixing into plastic. Another thing is that it doesn’t weigh much so unless you fill it with really heavy kit you may find it going walkies in high winds, however there are anchor points available in the base. My advice, if using these would be to fix to slabs or concrete and use a plate on top of the base to spread the load from any movement due to wind.
That said it seems fit for purpose and quite sturdy when all shut up. As far as security is concerned, it isn’t rigid enough to stop anyone getting in who wants to be in so I wouldn’t be putting anything inside that would break my heart to lose.
We needed something big enough to store our garden furniture’s cushions (there are 3 for each seat!) so we bought this. Its a perfect size, we have managed to get all cushions in, plus our sun loungers and a few fishing chairs and there’s still room! We didn’t buy the padlock which was recommended at the time of purchase as the reviews for that said they weren’t long enough so we still need to buy padlocks but its great, its fairly big. My husband said it was a bit of a nightmare to put together as it didn’t come with instructions but he managed it no bother.
Really great storage box, solid and stable – some have complained about he rear panel which comes in 2 parts – there is a section on the instructions (which can be downloaded if not in the box) which clearly shows how to put this tighter
This is big enough to store the BBQ and the patio furniture cushions for the winte
It's big and sturdy.
Great plastic shed, which we bought to put our little girl’s ride on Range Rover into when she’s not using it.
This shed is huge, three wheelie bins would easily fit inside.
Takes a while to assemble, there’s a large quantity of screws to drive in and having a battery drill would be a real advantage when putting this together.
I also used expanding foam on mine to seal up the corners against insect ingress and a thick foam draught excluder strip to seal the lid up.
Don’t really want a family of spiders to take up residence in my child’s toy while she’s not using it.
It’s very sturdy if you put it together correctly and site it on a nice solid base.
Good value, sturdy and high capacity garden store
This store arrives in a number of pieces and required basic assembly using only simple DIY tools. Despite this it took me (working alone) nearly 2 hours, however with a second pair of hands this would have been considerably easier.
Despite being manufactured almost entirely out of plastic this store feels very sturdy and has withstood quite a lot of use in the few months I’ve had it, showing no signs of wear so far.
The price I paid of 100 is competitive and this is an ideal option if you have a smaller garden or do not want a full size garden shed. Inside I have comfortably stored garden games, a lawnmower and strimmer, garden table and chairs as well as a few smaller items, still with space for more. Alternatively you are able to use this to store your wheelie bins, using the included chains that attach to the roof of the store – a very handy addition for those wanting to use it this way.
Other reviewers have made shelves to install into the store, and this is facilitated by the pre-moulded brackets in the side panels of the store.
Another real positive of this store is that you can padlock/chain the lid and doors separately or together. Good for some, ideal for most I would imagine. I have used a security cable and padlock for mine, costing only 10 from Screwfix.
All in all this is a well designed and, thus far, flawless garden store and is a perfect alternative to a traditional garden shed.
Exceeded my Expectations
Rarely have seen such wide ranging reviews on a product but having seen a similar model with a green lid at a DIY store, which looked robust enough, I took the chance and I am glad I did. It arrived in two days in perfect condition, no missing parts and if assembled correctly, it is really sturdy. Assembly was straightforward and I have shifted all the garden hand tools, electric strimmer, scarifier and a few more items from the garage into the new unit, so objective achieved. Having just had to re-roof and re-felt a small shed which now sits alongside the new unit, I am very glad to have bought a no-maintenance product. Recommended.
Addendum – just bought our second unit, which has improved, stiffer rear panel. Only downside, which is not Amazon’s fault, was that it was broken in two areas – both side panels – and had obviously been dropped on a corner in transit. Luckily, they were not in critical structural areas, so some epoxy glue and gripfill sorted it without having to return the item.
Handy garden storage solutio
Arrived in a flat packed box but easy to assemble – check you have all the bits, some of ours came already slotted together so just check.
The instructions were easy to follow and the completed structure can be moved to where you want it to live. Yes it can store 2 wheelie bins and contains fixtures to enable you to lift the lids when you raise the roof of this.
We decided to store our lawnmower and child’s garden toys. It would have been great to have to option to purchase shelves to slot across to make the most of the space. The instructions simply explain how to fit the shelves – which I’m sure anyone can figure out.
Overall this looks nice in our garden and I would definitely recommend i
A nice product for unsightly bins
Really like this product, very way to put together, all by myself, so in my opinion you don’t need two people to do this. The product seems very sturdy, and I have no issues with it.
I am using it to store 2 * 240ltr wheelie bins and it makes my garden look a lot tidier
It comes with the chains and hooks to automatically raise the bin kids when you lift the main lid which is a nice feature, however I lost one of the hooks within a day, probably ended up in the bin, but that’s not the products fault, however you could glue them in place if that concerns you.
All of the bits came with it, no damaged pieces and the instructions were very clear. It took me about 1/2 hour to put together.
Very happy and I would recommend this product, I’m actually thinking of getting a smaller one to keep my garden furniture in as they look quite smart
All in all, a nice produc
OK, so in principle I LOVE this item.
However, I originally ordered this expecting Prime delivery but it wasn’t going to arrive in time, so I went to B&Q and paid 15 for one off the shelf instead. I built this and loved it.
Meantime my Amazon order finally arrived, and I built this.
There are subtle differences. I think the B&Q one is a more up to date version. It has a curved roof, and the build quality was subtly better. The one from Amazon, well something is wrong with it. The doors don’t align and the roof doesn’t shut completely because the brackets aren’t aligned properly. One of the screw holders for the bracket broke off!
However as an idea I love it – the B&Q one holds so much it’s like a tardis, I put a couple of wooden shelves in, I have 4 crates of stuff on those shelves, a mitre saw, a toolbox – it’s fantastic.
So in summary – great item, but go get it from B&Q and pay the extra. I’m writing to Keter to express my dissatisfaction with the Amazon product.
Built by one female, a screwdriver and a four year old!!
Delivered in very quick time. Decided to put it together myself, with help from my four year old, using only a Phillips screwdriver (that’s all I have!!) – the instructions recommend two people, a drill, spirit level, gloves, googles etc….
The two end panels were really bowed and I thought I’d never do it, so gave up leaving the two bowed end panels and the back in place. After a while I decided to give it another go, and the two panels had straightened a bit. I flipped it on the end panels, and with a bit of ‘effort’ I managed to screw it all together. It said you need two people and a drill to put the top on , I didn’t, did it myself, with a screwdriver. All completed in relatively good time!! If I can do it with a screwdriver and a four year old, anyone can!!!
Large enough to shut four year old child in!!!! Great new hide and seek place!!
Bit flimsy but fine for bike/gardening tool storage. Will find out in the morning if it is watertight!!
Really good value for money and I'm delighted with my purchase. Its also possible for one person (not 2) to build it !
This is brilliant – I am now storing my two unsightly wheelie bins in it and my garden looks 100% improved now I don’t have to look at dirty blue and black wheelie bins when I’m sitting in the garden ! It does say that you need two people to build it and yes, that would be easier, but I’m a 43 year old lady who is average at DIY (I can manage the usual Ikea flat packed item) and I managed building it by myself – it took me all night (you need to use an electric screwdriver (or electric drill with screwdriver bit in it) though so be prepared for that, ladies, it would be a nightmare without it !) but as long as you are patient and read the instructions BEFORE you start (and during of course !) its absolutely do-able with one person. Once its made its pretty light to be able to drag into place in the garden too. It looks very smart and is sturdy and well made as you would expect from Keter. It also matches my two storage Keter benches (same colour way) so that’s a bonus. Really good value for money and I’m delighted with my purchase.
GOOD BUT... VERY ANNOYING TO PUT UP!
Be prepared for lots of drilling!
I am pretty good at DIY and in the last month have put together two double wardrobes, a dining table, TV on the wall and 5×5 storage unit, but I can easily say this was the most difficult and annoying to put together of them all!
There were almost no holes drilled so for the 20+ screws that needed to go in, I had to drill for each of them. And even the ones which appeared to be holes, turned out to be too small in width so again, I needed to drill them wider for the screws to fit it in as suddenly they wouldn’t go any further, even using a drill to screw them in.
Aside from that, the structure has been up for a week, it has rained in that time and appears completely sturdy and waterproof. Makes such a big difference to the half empty large wooden shed which once stood in its place.
Very good size – currently in it I have a lawn mower (with a folding handle), two folding loungers and other garden bits. Set to add a small BBQ to it this weekend which will fit with ease.
Good sturdy and flexible storage
Have two of these and they are good quality for less than 100. Easy to put together – only need on person – snap together plus a few screws.
yes they do take two wheelie bins
I have put 3 shelves in each of mine which uses the storage space more efficiently
Also put down a wooden floor to give more strength and ware resistance
Couple of design changes would be good
1) a bottom bolt on the left hand door
2) make the drainage grooves run to wards the front not the sides as water collects and when you open the top it tends to go everywhere if you lift the top to quickly
other than that no problems should last a long time.
Oh there is no way the top can get caught by the wind if you have shut the lip properly as one reviewer was complaining about.
I also use a pad lock for added security.
More positive than negative
Recieved my store it out max well packaged and no damage to box but opened it up and found 3 little pieces of broken off plastic from various panels. The plastic seems to be very brittle in places. The broken areas arent noticable so no big deal.
The unit was fairly easy to put together by myself in a couple of hrs. The unit doesnt feel overly sturdy but is adequate for my purpose. The finished unit has gaps between the fixing screws at the rear where the plastic has warped. I feel i will have to use some silicone sealant or rainwater will inevitably get inside.
For the 79.99 i paid it gets 4 stars, if i paid the 149.99 rrp it would have gotten 2 stars and probably returned. I feel this was sold as a batch at this price as it would be sold as faulty seconds by kete
Sturdy storage.
Took two of us a good hour or so to put this up. Instructions are the typical step by step diagrams showing which parts fit together. The parts are supposedly labelled in some way but a few didn’t seem to be, so that wasted time. The toughenend plastic goes together reasonably easy, and then you have to screw in to hold things together (that’s where the real time is spent). Electric screw driver would be a help here. As some have said, the back is surprisingly flimsy looking folded sheet plastic with a kink in the middle (at least ours had), but once it’s screwed in it firms up the structure. Once finished the whole things does feel sturdy enough for the job (storing lawn mower and garden tools etc). The doors and lid close and pull together, and again, once closed they feel surprisingly sturdy. It’s one of tjhose clever things which feels much sturdier and stable once closed. Only extras needed now are a couple of padlocks for the front. Those saying this blew apart, or it’s lopsided or has gaps must have struggled a little too much to put this together and ended up with a bad construction because I don’t think the same, especially once padlocked. Why four stars? It’s beige (+ brown lid) for heavens sake. COSTCO do an all brown version which I’d have preferred to be honest. I’ll re-review if necessary though.
