If you hate ironing, this is the iron for you
This was the third iron I bought, I returned the others as not as good as advertised. However, this is the best iron ever. Not cheap but worth every penny. No messing about with temperature changing for different materials, just fill it, switch it on and go, not only is it light and easy to use, it irons very fast.
I’m loving this iron once it’s set up you can pretty much leave it where it is as all you’ll have to do is fill the water tank. I wasn’t sure how this system worked but I’m really delighted with it it’s so easy and simple to use. No more killing my hand with heavy iron tanks full of water the actual iron is so light weight even I can use it annd more importantly enjoy using it with minimal pain. Well done and I’m so pleased with the irons performance my clothes honestly look like new again. I’ve been raiding all the drawers and re-ironing clothes lol sad I know but the quality of my ironing is so improved I just had to. I have arthritis and nodules on my fingers at joints and trigger finger so anything that helps me cope with that is a winner in my books.
Iron is good and is doing the job well. But I m concerned about the iron if isn’t returned by someone else, because in the picture inside looks like the iron should have a label sticked which was missing from my item. Was well packed. I hope I will not have any issues.
steam so powerful on normal setting steams suits jackets turns its self off when not using it , so light now that’s what i wished for so no strain on my wrists and shoulders, presses them practically flat like pancake ,
i feel like its doing ironing on its own , so quick I feel like a professional ironer , would not go back to the other models that’s never last don’t really do a lot , quiet too when first starts up its loud then goes quite, I have sensitive ears its perfect .
Dont bother buying any other BUY THIS
A Good Steam Generator Iro
All works as it should. We have had Tefal and Braun makes prior to getting this Which? Best Buy. Thoughts over the other ones we have had. The iron itself is lighter than all the previous purchases which is only a problem as the cords are quite large in diameter, the same as the others, so the lighter iron can get ‘moved’ by the cord weight or position. The iron cannot be left ‘stood up’ the cable and design doesn’t allow it so it must be either placed down onto the ironing board whilst repositioning the item you’re ironing or put back on its control unit as pictured in the blurb. Given the iron is light confidence in it staying put in either position is only with use and even then it can catch you out.
Very large water tank which is great for alot of ironing but not too good if you’re short on storage space. Iron is lightweight so good for arthritic hands. Cables are a good length and it couldn’t be simpler to use. Really zooms through the dreaded ironing chore in no time. Ferocious steam booster which frightens my cat but hey, she doesn’t have to worry about ironing! All in all an impressive machine that I enjoy using. Would imagine it to be ideal for ironing businesses as the temperature automatically adjusts to the garment you’re ironing, so no organising clothes by cool to hot and vice versa.
Overall I’m very happy with this Iron. The total unit is larger and heavier than a conventional iron due to the water and heater being held in the base unit (away from the hand held part). The water reservoir is generous and you should be able to do several hours of ironing without refilling. The hand part is lighter than normal and that is because all the work is done by steam, not by applying much pressure or weight onto the clothes. This generally works well with the high steam flow easily removing most creases. Simple things like pillow cases take seconds to do since the steam penetrates right through to both sides. No need to turn the item over to do the other side. This even works for heavier materials like denim. I have not tested the “no burn’ theory, but since the heat comes from steam within the iron, not directly from the iron plate, you should be able to leave it unattended on a garment without it every burning. Even though the steam is intense, I’ve happily ironed delicate low heat setting items without any problem – this item has no temperature adjustment since it is not required – everything is pressed by the steam and your gentle/moderate pressure. No real force required. The iron can sit on the unit while being used and there is a small clip to lock it in place if required. There’s an on/off switch on the main body and I would say takes about 60 – 80 seconds to heat up to ready. In use, the steam is activated by a trigger under the handle, that does not need much pressure using your index finger. You can get it to lock in the on position but I find that is less practical. One criticism is the cord to the plug is only approx 1.7m so you might want an extension lead if you are not planning to iron quite close to a plug. Note also that a LOT of steam comes out and you may even notice your windows steaming up. But small prices to pay for good performance.
Very Capable All-rounde
I haven’t used this yet but my wife (no gender sensitive stereotyping intended) says it is the best Steam iron she has used and glides through the clothes. I will use the iron soon as my serviceman background dictates. It looks good, feels good, and very ligh
Grea
Pushed the boat out and spent more than I had intended but worth it. “It doesn’t take the chore out of ironing but makes it easier.” Quote from my wife. I’ve never used it myself as I’m hopeless and can’t be trusted running a bath so mixing water, electricity and heat in one vessel would Defford be a hospital job. I’m the type of bloke who would answer the iron if the phone rang.
Sooo worth the money !!!
I had a Braun one before, to be fair it was 100 so couldn’t expect much of it
I would say this makes my ironing go faster with less effect
My only con is the water runs out too fast in the tank which didn’t with

Excelle
Excellent, lightweight, effective steam iron. Water in tank lasts longer than I expected. Can power through ironing. Need a surface near ironing board to place the base. Need to rethink positioning items on board before you press steam jet, to avoid burning yourself.
Mainly happy with this but boy, does it rattle!
I’ve had a Philips Perfect Care before so I knew what to expect. The iron performs perfectly well but while heating water to make steam (about every 30 seconds), the unit rattles at an unacceptable level. This is usually an expected rumble sound but on this one, a rattle too!
Finally! What my washing basket has been waiting fo
We bought this to replace a Bosch one that stopped working properly less than a year on. Had a Morphy Richards version before then that lasted about 6 years. This is bar by the easiest iron to use. Blasts through the ironing really quickly. Steam boost works really well. The iron itself is really lightweight, By far the best iron I’ve ever had – worth the extra investment if you have a family and constantly have ironing to do.
What a great machine
Having received this iron decided to give it a real test over three hours
1: Easy to fill
2: noise whilst heating the water is expected
3: iron glides over shirts in a breeze whether thick cotton or lighter fabrics.
4: No more dropping work shirts off at the cleaners.
Great product and with the large discount was able to purchase at 199
Fantastic!
I can’t do without this !! I had to buy another one to replace my ancient one. This really is perfect for everything. I whizz through the ironing with this, no need to organise the ironing. Start at the top and work through it can go from denim to silk next it really is a boon. I’m pedantic about everything and I iron everything except socks ha ha. It’s a must have from me.
Brillia
A brilliant Iron which conducts the calc cleans on its own and simply tells you when to empty the container. Provides plenty steam to get out creases. It does take a few minutes to heat up however once it’s going – No issues. Been using mine for a year now and still not a single issue!
Absolutely Amazing
All my friends think I’m mad spending so much on an iron but I love ironing so I must be mad! My last irons were tefal but after a while they just give up so thought I would change the make what can I say I absolutely love this iron it’s light weight it does the job in half the time. I got my partner to have a go then he wouldn’t give it back I didn’t tell him how much it was until he finished all the ironing
Thank goodness I bought another Philips Steam Generato
Had my old Philips Steam Generator for 12 years. Bought another make 18 months ago. True it was cheaper.
But didn’t meet my expectations. I wished I had paid the extra money and bought the Philips. Struggled for 18 months until I could get a Philips in Sale. Happy Bunny love everything about it including area to to push cors out of the way when not in use.
great gift for my daughter in law
my daughter in law uses an iron every day and wanted this was for easy use, so far she is very pleased with it, thought it was slightly over priced
Liked my daughters so bought one
Used my daughter’s and liked it so much I bought one. It’s a big piece of kit, so you need a big cupboard space. Mine sits on the work surface in my utility area. The base unit is quite heavy. My daughter keeps hers on the tray at the end of her ironing board, but my tray isn’t big enough. I put the unit on the work surface in front of my ironing board and can also plug it in there. The cord from the base is long enough for the iron to be used all over the ironing board. The water chamber is filled with ordinary tap water. We live in a hard water area so I am interested to see how the descaling system works. I haven’t had the iron long enough to find out yet. The lead from the base to the iron carries both water and power so there is a constant supply of heat and steam if desired. I use the button under the handle to dispense steam if needed. The iron is really light to use, which I appreciate as my hand get weaker. The iron automatically adjusts the heat to the fabric, which is great and the generous water tank means few refills. The overall quality of the ironing finish is impressive. Overall, this is lightweight and easy in use, giving a good result. Just be aware you need storage space and it isn’t as straightforward to set up as a conventional iron. I am pleased to have mine
Good competent steam generator iro
The product arrived well packaged.
The water tank is a little smaller than the previous Morphy Richard steam generator iron we had – but lasted through several garments. The iron has an automated temperature control meaning you can leave the iron on the board safely between items – a useful facility. The irons steam output is very good – handles thin and thick garments easily. There is a holding clip that can be applied when the iron is finished with allowing you to lift the whole unit with the handle of the attached iron. The overall weight is quite reasonable to lift.
Its too early to comment on the descaling process – but so far very pleased with the performance of the iron.
Probably the best steam iron we have purchased
Was unsure if I should rate it a four or a five. In auto mode it does tend to generate a little too much steam on occasion, so your clothes look like you have sprayed water on them
Makes ironing a breeze
Love my new iron, it’s so easy to use and lightweight. The steam is powerful meaning I can get all my ironing done in half the time it used to take. Delighted .
An absolute must for anyone who hates ironing, as I do!
I have used a high end product for ironing for some years and when the appliance broke, I researched the market for best available product currently available. The Phillips Perfect Care Elite Plus Steam Generator appeared to have more functions than all the rest in the same category. The safety function of being able to place the iron face down on the garment whilst taking a call or dealing with other things without risk of burning is exceptional. The easy clean method of descaling needs a mention too. Although pricey item, well worth every penny when you can work through a whole stack of ironing, from delicate silks to thick denims, in next to no time. Highly recommended.
Lightweight, good steam productio
Very lightweight iron, plenty of steam produced. We did have a white discharge from the iron when switched on following repeated use, but a simple removal of the easy calc collection plug and everything was working as expected.
Superb - best iron I’ve had
Excellent and worth every penny. Greatly reduces time spent ironing and give good results. Ironing is actually a pleasure! I am a sewer too so I also have a conventional iron, but I’m finding this useful here too. My previous steam generator used to burn me with steam when ironing seams, but this one doesn’t. I also like the safety features of automatic shut off and a lock to hold the iron in its cradle.
The Best iron ever!
So lightweight, very comfy handle, very easy to use and irons like a dream. No need to set any temperatures because it does it automatically and gets rid of any creases with ease. I actually enjoy ironing now!
Addicted to ironing!
Really light to handle and zips through the ironing like a breeze. Goes through folded sheets no problem so cuts my ironing time down. I like the automatic steam function (so you don’t have to hold down the steam button). De-calc procedure is super easy. An all-round super bit of kit.

Great iron. Lots of steam. Powerful and cuts through creases.
My last one packed in just after my 2 year guarantee ended so a bit hacked off with that but I’ll take the hit this time. Just keep an eye on it as the 2 year period hits just incase.
Literally the best iron eve
After refusing to iron for all of my adult life I have finally found the iron for me! It makes ironing quick, fun and pleasurable! Just careful with the steam as it is so powerful you don’t want to get burnt!
Ironing is a breeze
Great generator iron. Have had Phillips before and think they are really good. Has a detachable water tank which is a bonus and the cords can be stored away at the side of the machine. Would definitely recommend.
A game changer!
As an ironing-hater, I bought my first steam generator from Amazon but, being unwilling to fork out 300+, I bought a cheap refurbished model just to try. It was so quick and easy to use, it changed my mind completely about ironing. After that original model died after 12 months or so, I decided to invest in the Which? Best Buy at the time, the Philips Perfectcare Elite Silence. It was expensive, 350, at the time but 2 and a half years on, it’s still going strong and I still love it! I now find ironing therapeutic and do it whilst listening to music or watching tv. Well worth every penny!
A satisfactory iron but it has its faults
Attractive but being it is difficult to determine the water level in the reservoir and the on – off switch is confusing as it seems that you need to operate it a number of times before it becomes operational. It is lightweight and produces good results. With the base being curved and not flat it is awkward to keep upright in the ‘parked’ position.
I am not entirely convinced that the high price is entirely worth it.
Thrilled with this iro
I’m thrilled with this iron, goes from cotton to silk in the blink of an eye, and believe me it has been tested !!! One small minor change that I would like is if the waste water holder would give a warning before it needed emptying. It takes 2 hours to cool down to empty it after its heated up, not great if you are in the middle of ironing! I docked a star for that which is kinda harsh
Phillips Perfectcare Elite Steam Generator Iro
Wanted a better iron to replace my Phillips Azur which although fairly good doesn’t tackle really creased clothes very well. This was on a great offer and decided to purchase-what an amazing piece of kit which actually makes ironing a pleasure, not only because the amount of steam is so much greater but even more important takes less than half the time to iron the clothes.
Not sure why all the negative comments about this product because it’s a dream to use although I wouldn’t pay 350 for it the offer price was a steal for what it offers.
It's so good I bought two one for me and one for our daughte
Love the intelligence of the iron light weight handset sleek design in fact cannot fault it. Have had many many irons in passed and due to harsh water they do not last, this one tells you when to descale. LOVE IT !!
All Good!
In fairness there is no temperature control because all the heat is from the steam, so when you put it flat down on fabric nothing will burn. I like it a lot and paid 180 last yea
Excellent iro
Had a similar model for 10 yrs but that finally gave up the ghost. Bought this one which is ideal a bit bulky but I like the idea of automatic adjustment for different types of clothes and the big reservoi
Brilliant iro
Newer model of my last iron which lasted about 6 years.
It’s brilliant like the last. No fussing about sorting into piles of the same fabrics and stopping to changing temperatures.
Does it all in a breeze.
Great steam output for difficult fabrics
The iron itself is light weight to iron with but the whole unit to lift from place to place is quite heavy.
It gurgles a lot but then it is a steam generator!
Expensive but worth it in my opinion.
Amazing ironing experience
It’s an amazing iron, fast and smooth on every material.
It’s a pleasure ironing with this iron, you can use half of your time ironing as powerful is the steam generated and Easy to use! Very recommended
Lovely Lightweight Iro
Bought as it was a good brand and a great price. I did test the weights of various irons in a shop before purchasing to get the feel and quality of it. It is also really light weight and gets the creases out immediately. No temperature gauge so you can iron anything from jeans to light weight tops without having to constantly adjust the temperature. It definitely cuts the ironing time down in half. Just wish I had invested in one sooner.
Extremely easy to use and super light weight with no worries about changing temperatures
I normally don’t do reviews but this iron deserved one. I was very apprehensive about no temperature gauge but it’s a dream to use super light weight u can leave it on the ironing board without the worry if burning it can switch from silk to cotton no problem and the boost steam switch can be used for heavier cottons/linen. One thing I would say against the iron is you have to keep you hand squeezed on the knob for the steam to flow probably would be better if it was an on off switch
RECOMMEND
My last Philips steam generator stopped steaming although the unit itself still worked. I could not live without one of these so immediately replaced it with a newer model. I was not disappointed. The design is slightly different but improved and is much lighter in weight. My last model lasted 10 years of constant use so I hope this one will last even longer. I actually enjoy ironing with this as it has made it less of a chore. I would recommend a steam generator over an ordinary steam iron.
Great Steam Generato
Bought this to replace a 7 year old similar version that was till working OK but due to use the hand held section was cracking and starting to pull apart in use. Basically like most things you get what you pay for that’s why we bought the updated version of what we already had. Easy to use, powerful steam function, quieter than the old one, gives great results, glides across the clothes, easy de-calc function, auto temperature control and holds plenty of water in the reservoir and like most things I buy, recommended best buy on Which. You won’t be dissapointed if you get one of these.
Positive
This is my second Phillips steam generator iron. The previous one lasted about 6 years. The new version is an improvement re the ease of descaling and the detachable water well. They’re expensive but worth it as ironing is quicker, easier as the hand piece is light and you don’t burn items as it automatically adjusts between items. They are quite heavy when full of water so you need a sturdy, decent weight ironing board so that it does not tip when the iron is on it.. I would not go back to a conventional iron.
Easy to use and quickly iron through many clothes
It’s amazing how quickly the ironing can be done without worrying about settings or cloths getting burnt. The steam is strong enough so both sides of the clothes become crease free. Definitely the best steam iron system out there so far in my experience.
