We all have a very individual perception for heat and cold. Further, it also depends on other outside factors such as wind, intensity of the exercise and general clothing choice. We recommend these gloves for steady rides in winter. Depending on the intensity of your ride and your sensitivity to cold conditions, they are perfect for riding your bike in winter over a variety of conditions below 0° C. They will be too warm for spring and autumn. Are the Nordic Lobster Winter gloves wind- and waterproof? The Nordic gloves are windproof, but not waterproof. They are made from water-resistant materials that will withstand the odd short shower and road spray. When these gloves come into use, it is mostly too cold to be raining. Why do I still have cold hands despite wearing gloves? 1. Understand how clothing works. Gloves, just like any other piece of clothing, can’t warm by themselves! Their task is to retain and insulate the warmth produced by our body for as long as possible. 2. Your body doesn’t produce enough heat because the intensity of your ride is too low and you either need to ride harder or dress warmer. If your body doesn’t produce enough heat – for example through physical exercise – then there also is no heat that gloves etc. can insulate. 3. You have dressed your upper body too lightly. The way our body works is optimized to save our life critical organs in our upper body. That means if you go out in winter and dress too lightly around your upper body, it will automatically direct the warm blood from uncritical parts of your body (arms, hands, legs, feet) to your upper body. Consequently, if you use thick gloves, socks and overshoes, make sure that you dress the rest of your body accordingly. 4. The gloves are too tight. Make sure that the gloves don’t sit too tight – otherwise there is no space for insulating air. These particular gloves are made for low to medium intensity rides without competition or intervalls. We therefore recommend to size up by one size, as it will allow for more air to be trapped inside the gloves and work as an insulating layer. Are the Nordic Winter gloves touchscreen-compatible?
