Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersFirst impressions of the trimmer are positive. Light-ish but robust enough to get through trimming and edging without the line snapping. However. if you’re buying the version with two batteries, as I did, be aware that Amazon’s description is wrong – it comes with only the basic 400mA (3-9 hour) charger and not the 60-minute 2A version as stated. Additionally, the two batteries are pared down and do not have a visual indication of remaining charge.

This replaced an old one (not Worx) which was nearly unusable because the battery held only a few minutes charge and the manufacturer no longer supplied replacement batteries, nor could I find a third party on on the web. I like the ease of use with the wide mowing width of this new strimmer. The battery life is sufficient to do all the paths and edges of two allotments or for our whole back lawn. I bought Worx brand as the battery powers many devices so is likely to be supported in the long term, and this strimmer came with a second battery. The only downside was that the strimmer line supplied was not wound properly on the spool and snapped inside where it was trapped underneath itself and would not auto feed.

Great Strimmer Easy to use not the lightest but far better than having cables everywhere !!!!
Well made with good adjustments for height.
Comes with two batteries last about half hour each on an average garden.
all in all a great piece of kit highly recommended

I bought this to replace a corded strimmer. What a difference. You must charge the batteries before you start. This can take up to 5 hours The longest length of time I have used the strimmer was 40 minutes and there was still plenty of life left in the battery
The auto line feed works brilliantly , and the line strength is very impressive, ripping through the longer grass effortlessly. The edging conversion was simple to do and once again easy to keep a straight edge.
I think I am the envy of the neighbourhood!!

    Update

One year and a bit later still same cord on the reel that came with it but base plate worn away (made of soft cheese type plastic)

Bought my Worx strimmer in may 2021now July 22 and have been 100% happy with it and can say this is the best one I have ever owned the freedom of going cordless changes the whole user experience of strimming the garden.

Would still buy another one as yes the base plate do ware out but 1 year seems short.

5.0 out of 5 stars Update to my earlier review

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI found this effective, but it is quite hard work in general use although the presence of wheels helps take up some of the strain when it comes to edging lawns.

I chose the **.2 option**, which meant I received two batteries and the basic charger, which is so small that it effectively looks like a battery that has a charger attached rather than the other way around. The batteries are not supplied with any pre-existing charge and each one takes about five hours to achieve a full charge, so ten hours needs to be set aside before first use if you have a lot of strimming that needs to be done. I found a battery lasted for about 25 minutes of fairly intense work with the odd start and stop included. It doesn’t feel like very good payback for the time spent charging.

Knowing what I do now, I would choose the fast charger and get at least two batteries so that I could get more done and not have quite so much time needing to be spent waiting for charging. But I do have more than an acre of lawn and edging that needs attention and has previously been neglected before my arrival, so a couple of batteries will be ample for a smaller space.

Bought to replace cheaper strimmer. Used to keep Family graves tidy. Very good strimmer, easy to assemble, lightweight good cutting cord. Already have worx tools so extra batteries a bonus, very good tool, cord last longer than cheaper strimmers & easy feed when required. Thoughrelly reccomend this strimmer. Arrived as advised, well packaged from amazon warehouse.

I bought this with the Worx blower as a pair, to share one battery. I have a large lawn and both these products manage it brilliantly. The strimmer is very light such that my wife has no problems using it (when I can get her to do so!). It is easy to hold with a second adjustable handle that is very comfortable. The usage height is adjustable over a wide range. It cuts grass and weeds without a problem and the automatic spool feed is a dream. It is easily changes to an edger which also works very well. Once again a 6 star.
The battery life is extraordinary and deserves 6 stars in its own right. I also have the Worx Impact Driver and Saw and share batteries across all these products. Again the usage life is wonderful. I wish I had started this range of products years ago.

I bought this to replace the previous model, so I already had the batteries and charger. This model works much more effectively and the battery seems to last a lot longer. The weight and balance with the adjustable handle make it more comfortable to use as well. A significant improvement.

Product arrived on time and was ready to go in a couple of minutes (probably took longer to open the heavily sellotaped box than it did to put it together!). Instructions are the kind where it is a series of diagrams rather than written instructions, but they are pretty straightforward.
Initial battery charge takes a few hours but so far haven’t had any issues. I probably spend about 30 minutes strimming /edging with no problems and the battery recharges within a couple of minutes.
Strimmer itself is lightweight and height-adjustable. Haven’t quite worked out the autofeed on the handle yet but admittedly I haven’t bothered to look in the instructions. I did notice that there is a button on the spool to manually feed it and that has worked fine so far. All in all, it is much lighter and quieter than the petrol strimmer multi-tool I had previously. Very happy so far.

Got this to replace a petrol strimmer which was so heavy it came with a harness! This was easy to assemble and my 13 yr old son had no problems moving it around the garden. I would recommend for older people and anyone else. The 2 batteries are the bulk of the cost but very handy particularly if you have other Worx tools.

This is the best battery tool I hve bought for the garden. The qulaity of the components that make up the assembly are top notch and the design details are superb. I reaally love using this tool and it makes gardening a pleasure. naturally it does not give the same power as a plug in product, however, for 99% of the tasks that you will need this for it is execllent and well worth a purchase. I would buy another without any hesitation expecially as it has the usual Worx quality and efficiency I hve come to expect.

I’ve edged and strimmed everything in sight, even the weeds on the pavement. I love the freedom of this cordless tool and so light weight. With no cable to worry about, I can use front or back 100 feet down the garden. The battery lasts me about 20 minutes in heavy use before it needs charging again but that’s fine for me. The noise from it is less unpleasant an electric one. I don’t think you would regret buying this strimmer. When I needed to replace line, I found this one fits it fine but there are others are available too that say they fit the WG157E.9 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07S58LGQB/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought this on a whim having became disillusioned with my temperamental petrol strimmer. I don’t have a huge garden but hate trailing electric extension cables around for an electric strimmer so petrol seemed the sensible option, my petrol mower is brilliant, strimmer not so. In reality, this small, lightweight unit performed as well as my petrol strimmer for borders, around fence posts etc and I already had the batteries. I’d have no issues recommending these to others with similar requirements.

Seems decent, used it a couple of times now. I have the hammer drill and impact driver so used one of those batteries.

I’ve posted pics of before and after. Took about 1.5 batteries to clear that which in very happy with as that’s heavy strimming. The string is super tough, doesn’t snap on rocks or the fence. I bought this because I’ve already got a Worx cordless drill with 2 batteries. The batteries are interchangeable as the pics show. They are slightly different looking but it’s cosmetic, the batteries have the same part number, WA3551.1
I actually like strimming now, didn’t think I’d say that. When we bought the house about a year back I cleared the back yard and used a big annoying Ryobi to strim the garden a long time back. It was strong but annoying to use, buying petrol and oil which stinks, kept cutting out, awkward, supper noisy and I had to get better earplugs, heavy and couldn’t be tilted it I got a wet oily bum. It is more powerful but the thicker string snaps more easily and its a right pain stopping it, tipping it a bit to get to the string cover to open it and release more while avoiding spilling the fuel. The house is still an ongoing project but at least the grassy areas are easy to manage now with this strimmer.
It isn’t heavy amd does make the arms ache but it’s no effort to swap hands unlike the big petrol strappy things.
Really versatile, easy to get under the hedge, ot pictured here and get the brambles Takes a while to get confident in adjusting the head by kind of standing on it!! I’m left handed so the edging is going to take practice as for edging it can only be set up for righties
Its a no brainer, no smoke, 1/2 the noise, no fuel mixing or storing, no smell, lighter, smaller as its telescopic and so much quieter but I still had earplugs in.

    Much much better than expected

Rotates so you can edge the side of your lawn along pathways etc. Very easy to use and very light weight. Extend the line using command feed so no messing around like on older strimmers. Just press the button while it’s rotating and it lets more line out.

I first bought a Works Jawsaw several years ago when they had not established themselves over here yet. Over the years I have been really impressed with the innovation and reliability of that product so being a great fan of Worx already I had high expectation for their strimmer.

I was not disappointed, this product is absolutely brilliant and I love the swappable battery system so much that I have already purchased a Worx drill / screwdriver which slots in exactly the same 20v power-pack.

I used the strimmer for the first time this morning and it was a joy to use. Areas and corners that had become overgrown were made short work of in no time and it didn’t seem to dent the available battery power either. As you would expect from a Worx product it is innovative with a useful roller system for edge trimming and a command button on the handle that feeds out extra cord if you need it. And I just love the battery system, the way it neatly snaps in under the handle and that fast charger is so nicely designed.

It also features an adjustable cord guard and the shaft of the strimmer can be extended or twisted at right angles for lawn edge strimming.

So I can’t recommend this product enough, it really is a cut above the rest.

An excellent machine for this price, especially when it comes with 2 batteries. I have a big lawn with lots of edging and 1 battery has completed the task at least 5 times before it needs recharging, I don’t think I will need a spare battery. On the strength and performance of this I am seriously considering other products in the range.

  53. David Hinkle says:

I only recently bought this product and I have tested it to ensure all is well.

I bought this garden tool as I have other Worx products and I am very happy with them for a number of years now.

The two batteries which came with the device charged as advertised and the assembly required is minimal.
The telescopic handle is nice and the locking mechanism easy to use.

The distance wire guard pulls out and is a good guide when strimming to avoid damage to flowers. It does however push in quite easily.
The plastic guard is effective and the line feed is a nice feature, as is the double wheel attachment for edging.

The only thing I don’t like is the mechanism to fold and adjust the strimming guard angle. It works, but it feels just wrong to just force it over a plastic type ratchet.
I ended up using a little silicone oil to reduce friction a little.

It remains to be seen how it performs long-term.
With that in mind the 3 year warranty on registration is a bonus and gives piece of mind.

I brought this to pair with their 40CM mower and because I already have the power washer and so have the batteries. This is the ‘bare’ one without batteries of its own. Its a bit more expensive than a basic strimmer but well contructed and works well. I have done the lawn edges & fences twice without extending the nylon cord and it is easy to clean after use. A marked improvement on its predecessor in both respects. Pairs well with the mower.

So far I am impressed with this strummer , cuts a very clean line and the battery works well. The only reason I didn’t score a 5 is it’s a strange mechanism to move the guard to vertical and horizontal as you have to put it on the floor, stand on the guard and move the handle which feels to me like one day it might break.

I am very pleased with this strimmer. I bought it mainly for doing edges and I have to say it does an excellent tidy job. Having wheels makes it so much easier to use and keep steady. In just a couple of clicks and a twist of the handle it transforms into a normal strimmer and does a good job of that too. It was easy to assemble and not too heavy. My only slight criticism is the battery life before needing to be charged, but on a smaller garden I don’t think it would be an issue.

It took me a long time to make the decision to order this as I wanted a German brand named after a big bear! Ordering from Germany directly (as I have done previously) was almost 40 cheaper than sourcing from the UK, but my Amazon Pay would not register.
I bought this as a second choice and boy, am I pleased I did so. The edger is a wonderful addition and gives a neat edge in a fraction of the time it took me with shears. Adjusting the head takes some getting used to as the recommended method seems a bit overly aggressive, but it works. I am only on my first battery worth, but it cuts much like a petrol strimmer that has given up the ghost.
I am thrilled with my purchase and though some reviews were negative, they must have been written by serial wingers.
Not only is it Worx, but it also works and how! A brilliant bit of kit that punches well above its weight.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter using it for 15 minutes… The fully-charged battery had run out of juice. And ouch my hand was aching from keeping the switch pressed for it to work. This feels like bad design, but I guess it might be a safety requirement?

I was using it to clear some long weeds, and that’s hard work for this kind of thing. But with two fully-charged batteries, at this kind of extreme, you’re going to get around 20-30 minutes before you have to wait 4-5 hours for one battery pack to recharge. On the other hand, you’ve probably got more than a suburban back garden if you need to spend more than 30 minutes strimming.

This is lightweight compared to many, but still fatiguingly heavy when you’re using it. I have a body harness designed for the industrial brush whackers (around 10 here on Amazon). Using some cable ties I rigged up a way of supporting it to make life easier. But there’s no clip on the unit itself for using a harness.

I’ve got to say that this feels to me much more like a 40-60 unit, rather than the 80-100 it’s priced at here on Amazon. That said, it was just about able to tackle long grass and weeds — something my old strimmer just couldn’t hack. I suspect simply using it for borders and those bits that a lawnmower misses will bring excellent results.

This grass/edge trimmer is amazing. We have a lot of edging to do. It takes a lot of the hard work out of it.
The first summer edging will take a little longer after the winter. After that it’s a doddle. Very easy to use. The first time using it I didn’t make such a good job because you have to learn to gauge your edges as we have a few different ones round the garden. Try a patch that’s not so disable first, when you’ve mastered that you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it. You won’t be disappointed. A great buy.

I cannot use this as yet due to a broken wrist , but my wife has used it almost every day for something or other in the garden, she absolutely loves it especially as we bought on extra battery-not cheap, but well worth it if you have a large garden-the batteries, which last about 40 minutes are also interchangeable with other Worx tools.

Highly recommend this – have had it for a couple of months. Easy to assemble and use. Bump feed good and very tough – you do not need much new line per session. Battery lasts well with no drop in power. Recommended at the price. It’s not heavy, but it’s not light either – but is well made.

This product is the best of battery operated ones that I have used. It does weigh a little more than the others but this is still not too heavy. The use is very easy and effective and keeps the edges of the lawn looking pristine in just a few minutes. I also use it up the allotment to keep the grass down rather than taking the lawn mower over all the time.

I’ll try and write a review like I wanted to see someone had written on strummers.

This strimmer is amazing.. it has some real torque to cut the grass, tough weeds even small twigs on bushes. I was worried being battery it would tickle the grass… but I was wrong. It loves to get stuck in and strim anything in its way with out losing any speed.
It looks the part too… no cheap looking strimmer and it’s functions are great. Did the whole front garden which is a small to medium size and still plenty juice left to carry on… and I even had the other battery to use as well.
I got this for my dad to use and to be honest there is not much difference between this one and my corded mains strimmer… I may even buy one myself !!
The nylon string did not feed itself out while in use which some do.

Really pleased with it and I can see no reason anyone would t be.

Only one bad thing I could honestly say… which isn’t bad is charging the batteries when it came took few hours… but really that is not worth worrying about for what this can do on the law

This cordless strimmer is brilliant. Had fresh turf an had left it to grow and let the soil harden for 6 weeks. Used this strimmer to cut along the edges of lawn to make mowing easier. Then used this to cut the edge (vertically) and tidy up the over look of the lawn. Used a battery that came with my worx drill, a 1.5Ah battery. That lasted roughly 30mins before a 4hr charge became needed.

I’ve have 4 stars for Ease of Assembly due to not having instructions in the box, but there is only 1 screw for the hood of the strimmer wire. Very easy indead.

I tested this out on wet heavy grass and it did struggle slightly. Did the job… But could hear the motor struggling ever so slightly. Like I said, still managed the job.

    39 quid, can not complain.

Even used this to trim back a lightweight Bush, hedge cutter died an gave this a go, worked but was messy flinging the hedge cuttings everywhere 🙂 nothing a quick broom didn’t sort out.

Brilliant bit of kit by Worx as always.

This is a fantastic product , I’ve ditched my petrol strimmer and use the Worx Strimmer all the time. For edging its brilliant just be careful it’s so good it can cut it’s own edge !

This product is awesome. Does everything a mains strimmer would do but so much more manoeuvrable. Plus if I have a couple of minutes spare to strim round the lawn I can just pick it up, drop a battery in it without the time of having to get an extension lead, plug into the mains. Quality product feels like it will last forever.

Does the job as well as my mains strimmer but lighter and more portable. For light garden use. Not for hacking down loads of weeds but does what I bought it for ie strumming of grass.

I already had the batteries so this was an economical way to sort out the borders on my allotment. Surprised how sturdy and powerful it was for the money. No complaints at all.

Excellent buy, of the grass trimmers I have bought this is by far the best grass trimmer. We balanced and sturdy design. The auto string feeder is a blessing, no more stop and pull the string. Love the fact it rotates to a vertical position to edge the grass, it saves another job to make the edges manually. Very happy with the purchase.

Absolutely brilliant product. I bought it to replace a corded strummer which I never really liked using. This is brilliant quality, lightweight and really easy to use. Cuts much better than any corded strimmer I have ever used. Great cutting power and something I enjoy using. Would definitely recommend.

Something of a lethal weapon – it cuts edge sharply – but difficult to know exactly where you are cutting – certainly nothing like as easy as advert video would suggest. Also very difficult to change from strimmer to edger. Hoping I will get used to it as I persevere.

Great cordless strimmer but is on the heavier sided for me. Found myself having to take breaks every few minutes to ease strain on my arms (this may be because I am somewhat petite at 5ft). Used the battery from my Worx drill.
