Don’t see why others would need a more expensive metal detector. This is perfect for beginners and veterans alike. Great price. Although when it comes to finding coins, it is far more useful in the North American market were coins are made with different materials than Europe and the UK.
Great bit of kit that will one day prove to me that some gold is still left out in the open and not in the pockets of MPs, lol

This is my first metal detector and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. My father has used this model for many years and swears by it as a beginner model to use. So, I decided to buy it and see what happens. It’s a very simple machine compared to the other more expensive models and that’s definitely needed for just starting out. It’s got multiple detection modes, has the ability to change sensitivity and discrimination, displays depth of the find and has the various sounds for the types of metals detected. I read through the manual and tried detecting in my back yard and it was very simple to use and was able to find many odd objects in my yard. It will take time to learn the various sounds and pinpointing where to dig, but for a beginner this turned out to be a great model to own. Now that I’ve been detecting for a little time now and joined some Facebook groups, I have found there are lots of very experienced detectorists who still use this device over in Europe and here in the US. If you want to get started in metal detecting, this is a good base model to start with and potentially use for years.
Finds metal stuff.
Way too much fun. Buy one to find keys, nails, large buried metal ‘unknown’ bases in your garden. The settings are easy to use and the build quality is durable.

Took up metal detecting this year quite seriously so did hours of research on detectors so hopefully I wouldn’t waste my money. This is quite simply a brilliant bit of kit for the money. I have met detectorists with very expensive machines who are no more successful at finding stuff than the Ace 250 does. You only have to look at other reviews and it’s always rated as one of the best as a starter/serious machine. Have found Roman Bronze, medieval stuff etc. The pinpoint function is very handy and once you get used to it makes finding stuff really quite simple. Match it with a standalone pinpointer and you’re ready to go. I bought the KKMoon GP pointer from Amazon as it was a good price, and again, it’s been brilliant. Would definitely recommend.

Found musket balls fired at bonnie prince charlie’s General John Roy Stewart on Tulloch Moor. They missed. The display is dodgy so sent back for a replacement which has the same defect…..if it wasnt for that i would give five stars.

Fantastic, very sensitive machine, have found a few decent things already including a ring, well worth the money!
The metal detector does everything it is advertised to do! This is a great detector for this price range. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a lower priced detector. It is very easy to use and quite accurate with the objects that it is identifying.

Purchased as a bit of fun and work we’ll, plug in headphones are a pain when you have found something as you need to put everything down. I found on Amazon a WiFi transmitter & receiver unit and used this to connect to my WiFi headphones works great.

Only giving 4 stars because it does not come with a coil cover, trying to find a coil cover for this in Canada is difficult, it is only $15 in the US, but in Canada you are looking at spending $40 plus dollars for it, unless you can find it in stores cheaper, even then you are looking at spending a nice chunk of money.
Aside from all that, it is a very good detector, has a lot of functions for its price range and is very easy for beginners to use.

Got mine and had a faulty display had to send it back and request a replacement so hopefully when I get my new one 5. Just had my replacement mon 24th july which took 24hrs all works fine now just can’t wait to use it.

Arrived late on last night about 7pm I put it together took it out for a first test and within one hour I had found a Victorian Masonic badge two musket balls five one pound coins a 2p coin and a lot if scrap lead this was all from rough ground near my home imagine what it would be like in good ground? Really superb machine

I’ve wanted to try metal detecting for years and finally decided to go for it.
I live within a couple of mile from numerous sandy beaches and wanted an affordable but decent detector that could handle dry and wet sand.
After reading numerous reviews and watching YouTube vids I chose the this and wasn’t disappointed :).
I didn’t find anything of value my first time out but it works great and found coins and scrap.
It can be assembled then disassembled into 3 easy peices so I can carry it in my pack pack without a problem. I’m very happy I chose this this.

The depth isn’t always 100% but if it beeps there will be something there, don’t give up!! Found money on beaches, doesn’t work well on wet sand by the sea but fine otherwise. It’s in American in terms of money on the screen itself but this doesn’t really cause us a problem. I’m waiting to dig up gold!

Bought as a gift for my wife. We have taken it out once on the beach, but so far so good (already found 72p and several ring pulls!!!). We like the display and settings. It is very easy to use, and found that it was very accurate at identifying and pinpointing metal, distinguishing between coins, ring pulls etc.
This is the second metal detector that I have ever had. And it is very good.
On my first try I went to the beach and spent several hours on the beach. Found iron nails from old wooden ships, some wrecks of old wooden ships are on the coastline. Some aluminium, some copper, brass, bronze all at depths of about 10 inches. In wet sand it still works and found, well more of the same at around 6 inches.
On my second day I went to the dunes. Found over 20 bullets from WW2 and at a depth of 8 inches the smallest fragment of a bullet, about 4 mm by 2 mm in size at a depth of 8 inches. The pinpoint button is so accurate.
However I did find that in a change to the underlying makeup of sand, when it changes from one state to another, the Ace 250 gives falls readings, but this was the only times that it gave falls readings. It indicates that something is under the sand, but nothing is, it is only the change in the lower sand levels.
I did not have ear phones, but the loudness and clarity of the beeps from the device was good enough even as the waves were hitting the beach.
This is most definitely a good device to get.

A good product when taking the price into account. I feel it should come with a weather guard or should be manufactured as weatherproof. Works well easy to operate comes with DVD and instruction manual.

It’s light and seems easy to use but trust me…if you are new to this you MUST read the instructions or watch the dvd, something my dad hasn’t done so I’m sure he isn’t using it correctly. There is one thing I find a little disappointing though, it’s battery powered so you have to keep buying batteries or buy rechargeable ones. I don’t know why but I thought something this costly could have come with a built in battery that you charge at the mains….but I guess that would make it heavier. We have found some coins (that were placed in the ground for his grand daughter to “find”, apart from that we have taken to the beach once but after reading other reviews it doesn’t seem to be too accurate on wet sand. Invest your time in Reading the booklet or watch the dvd if this is new to you, it’s not just a case of turning it on and getting on with it. It’s very cool though and I’m going to give it a go when my dad is in holiday!

Truly awesome love this peice of exceptional kit, found an old ten pence in back garden not taken it to places yet due to permissions, as I live on old roman ground but I can see great things happening from purchasing this metal detector the best I have seen and used and so easy to use. Effortless in holing it with the slick design and Velcro straps. A lot of thought went into making this and using it clearly shows. I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to try something new and keep that flame alive of making it big. Ya never know same odds as lottery or betting ya win some ya lose some. Unfortunately the first Ace 250 I bought was indeed faulty – it was a reasonably well-documented fault involving part of the display fading out; an electronic issue of some sort.
Faced with my first return of a product purchased online, I was utterly amazed at just how easy Amazon made it to return. It was a faultless, easy-to-grasp system that, for me, earned Amazon buckets of respect. Not only was it easy to return the faulty detector, I got a replacement in just a few days. I know the Garrett Ace 250 is a seriously good metal detector. I was just unlucky first time round. I am more than looking forward to taking the replacement out to search some fields. Gold hoard here I come! Well done Amazon.

Can’t really complain. I knew there were better brands/models out there. After discovering a ton of old iron junk and one medieval buckle I became hooked and upgraded to the best metal detector on the market within a month. SO. If you just want a toy or to see if it’s something you would enjoy, then get a Garret. If you want to find better stuff and take the hobby up seriously, then I highly recommend getting a Minelab or an XP Deus, otherwise you just miss the good targets or spend all day digging up poor ones. Research the Garret and the other models first! There are plenty of videos on youtube “Garret vs XP Deus” for example.

I bought this metal detecter on the fact this has had great reviews. And it doesn’t look cheap like others suggested! . It looks the part and reading on Internet before I bought this its 5th in the top ten metal detecters.the others are more expensive but this is perfect for first timers. Can’t wait to get out tree proper and start digger for treasure with the kids. 10/10 no regrets

A lot of times it gives out maddeningly spurious signals then falls silent on scanning again. All settings have been tried but none seem to guarantee consistency. Having said all that some great finds have been made with it. I just wish it would perform the same every time.
After much research and debate I decided to purchase the garrett ace 250, its light weight and has a quality feel about it, lots of different setting for coins Jewellery etc, I’ve not realy had much time to go through the settings only having used the garrett twice. So far the garrett has found me 1 1979 penny 1 2005 5pence and 5 very old rusty nails, never had so much fun finding junk hoping to find a gold coin one day soon.
Would definitely recommend this,detector only thing I dislike is the bright yellow colour.

HAD THIS for a while now,haven’t found anything exciting yet gut always performs faultlessly,however I would not recommend this for wet sand beach work…..it goes beserk!
Bought for Christmas so have not checked properly but looks ok.
