The Patlock is a sturdy piece of kit, very easy to fit and can be removed quickly if necessary. If you have French Doors and need extra security look no further than the Patlock. It’s well worth the money paid.

Love how easy to install these were, my 14yr old daughter was able to install the new anti tamper bits and I love how easy they are to remove once in place. Having tried to open door (unlocked!) From outside, you can see how impossible it is made with these which gives me extra confidence in them.

Great product. It will definitely stop break-in on patio door as it can’t be opened easily from outside. It also gives visible detterant so burglar will break into next door. Also barrel lock used in patio door very easy to break into.

It feels really safe now to have that lock on my French doors at night. Even if someone tampers with the keyhole, the doors still won’t open. The installation was simple and althought the item is quite dear, it brings you a safety feelintg. I might revisit this review in the future if it doesn’t serve it’s purpose well, but at the moment I am recommending it.

A krooklok for your patio doors!
A simple and effective deterrent to opportunist burglars. It wouldn’t stop a determined entrant, but adds another layer of obstacle that would require more effort, and may well make them look for a softer target.
Easy to fit. The tamper proof spindles were a little tricky to cut to size, being solid metal, but worth the effort.
Looks tidy enough from inside, and is visible externally too, adding to the deterrent factor.

Pretty easy to install and does the job to prevent intruders gaining entry via the patio door. A friend had one fitted which did stop someone breaking in, so we decided to fit one too. It’s easy to remove to unlock and open the door and refit after locking.

I’ve recently had an attempted break in. Luckily I saw the intruders and they ran away. I did a lot of security upgrades, but this was by far the quickest and most effective. I understand its not bullet proof but it’s simple to use and will hopefully be a deterrent.

Saw this on a television programme and decided to purchase. It is easy to fit and also easy to remove when opening your patio doors. Gives added security to hopefully deter a burglar. It is well made and does it’s job, a great produc

    Arrived promptly.
Well constructed and simple to use.
However, there’s a limit on the width of the patio door handles that it will fit over (check Patlock’s website).
So, unfortunately, it wasn’t practical for us as our handles were at the width limit meaning that fitting and removing the two halves of the Patlock required excessive force/pressure with both hands on each handle which negated the advertised ease of use.
Sadly decided to return for a refund.
Great product if it fits your door handles.

This was my first purchase as I was about to move into my new house. I take safety and security extremely important.

It’s very easy to install and perfect for double opening patio doors. Even if you leave your door unlocked with the pat lock on (although I wouldn’t recommend it), it is still unopenable from the opposite side.

Whoever came up with this idea is a genius!!!

Easy to take on and off but it has extra security arms that need a locksmith to install unless you feel confident enough to cut them if needed (which I don’t) so I have to use it without.
UPDATE Find it is getting stiffer to take off so I will only use it if I am away for a while as it is a hassle.

This is very easy to use and doesn’t require much pressure to unlock the locking tabs. It gives you a bit of extra piece of mind security and hopefully sends the burglar off to another house.

One review I would suggest for the manufacturer is to reduce the length of one of the metal rods so that you can locate one side in first, then the 2nd side, whereas at the moment you have to try and get both sides matching up at the same time, which is just a bit fiddly.

This product is amazing it caters for our security needs making it easy to remove from the outside and difficult to get in from the outside moreover it is easy to get on an off which is a priority for dog own whose dog frequently like to go out.The only flaw is the rubber insides which are to protect the handles of the doors often fall out this is its only short coming.

    Would reccommend

I have an issue with the length of the 2 locking bars .
I took the unit apart and examined it . It would be so simple to make this unit fit
all patio door locks not just as described ” most patio door locks ”
This unit could be made simply more adaptable for longer door handle widths .
For indeed a minute increase of the cost .
This locking bars should be offered in 2 lengths
Unfortunately the spindle needs to be increased in size also by 2″ / 50mm

    (1) The original existing size
    (2) With a bar approximately 2″ ( 50mm ) longer
The spindle needs to be almost 2″ / 50mm Longers also

We use this nightly on our conservatory doors as it gives me peace of mind that it would deter and prevent a break in. As a police officer I’m very aware of security and I think this is a great product for a reasonable price.

The lock idea, is excellent. Looks good. Requires no key lock to go with it, etc My only criticism is my wife is a little arthric in fingers and this may just to women who not very strong. Pushing the buttons to open release mechanism and shutting. I bought two locks. One was fine, the other one was sticking. I used vaseline on the metal parts. Now it’s working fine. Wife can’t close or open either. May be lacking in technique as well as strength. I am going to work on it with her. Overall an excellent product. Well worth the money. Looks so cool on my French doors.

Lock is very good, well made and very easy to use. It’s important to fit the supplied security spindles otherwise the lock is simply a visual deterrent. The spindles are very easy to fit and a 5 min job. The company are responsive with good communication should anything go wrong with your order. In my case Amazon failed to deliver my 1st order listing it as being damaged in delivery. How that would was possible is beyond me as this the lock is solid. Another was quickly in the post and at my front door. Well recommended product giving extra piece of mind.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was looking for security for the conservatory across the internet and I saw similar locks to the patlock which came with a padlock but I came across the patlock which i though was a great idea , no padlock and the spindles which comes with them was added security . I ordered the patlock on Saturday and received it the following day . Now what I will say it is easy to install if your current spindles are the same size as the patlock spindles and the washers you have to install will fit in the hole of your door, so make sure before you fit the washers and spindles that the patlock spindle is the same size as your current one , if not you will have to saw off one end which is not highlighted in the installation guide to which side you saw and I used a drill to open up the hole on the door so the washer fits through. There is a YouTube video out there to how to install the spindle and lock for anyone not comfortable doing it. Like many others I dont know how good it is until someone tries to break in , but hopefully it will not come to that. It looks very smart and matches the colour of our doors.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDespite our security cameras and an alarm, I have often thought that our two sets for French doors at the rear of our property have been a weak point. However a little more reassured with these handle locks in situ.

These come with spindles for you to change over with your existing handles (optional).

    Easy to install/ remove.

With the majority of burglaries being opportunistic in nature, these are a great visual deterrent which should hopefully slow or put off anyone wanting quick entry.

I like this a lot. It’s neat and tidy, but I do have some reservations. If you have reasonable DIY skills then it’s straight forward to fit. Hardest part is cutting down and fitting the security spindles. Without these spindles then the miscreant could snap off the handles from the outside and just push both spindles through and the padlock would just fall off.

As others have pointed out you need reasonably strong fingers to release the lock. It works by plastic teeth engaging into steel ratchet bars. I did wonder whether the plastic would harden with time due to UV. Also it’s quite pricey for what it is. Otherwise I think it’s 5 stars

Very easy to fit and remove as no key required. Comes with anti bump spindles for added protection. I have this in place with Yale 3 star locks to ensure top security on my patio doors. Definitely gives added peace of mind when sleeping, especially as there has been a spate of burglaries in my area where they have snapped the patio looks to gain entry into houses. Also fitting this at night ensures I also check the patio doors are looked, as we use the doors a lot to go into the garden and have forgot to lock the doors in the past..

I chose not to pay extra for a quick delivery but the item arrived the next day anyway so I was really pleased! The item was easy to fit to my french doors but as my son has one I didn’t expect not to be able to use it easily. The product came with an extra security facility that means removing the existing handles and replacing the connecting bar between the inner and outer handles. I didn’t feel confident enough to do this so will wait for my son to visit so he can fit them. The product can be used without fitting these bars but they are an extra security factor. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

The order arrived quickly. It’s a sturdy design. It was slightly fiddly to install on the first door but the second door only took a few minutes as we’d learned from doing the first door. You have to remove the spindles inside the existing handles and replace with the Patlock ones. The instructions could’ve been better. Now it is installed I feel more secure. The lock is easy to remove when you need to open the door.

Extra safety for my French doors. Although I haven’t fitted the spindle part yet. It is strong but it does not require a huge amount of strength to lock and unlock it. I feel it is worth the money and even without the handle spindle part fitted, I feel my door is more secure. I’m waiting for a handy man or locksmith to fix the spindle part but no rush as it’s already doing a good job. When it is fitted I’ll def give 5 stars +.

The patlock looks good and is easy to use if you have strong enough fingers as you need to squeeze the ratchet locking mechanism to both install and remove the Patlock, so may not be suitable if your fingers aren’t that strong.
It is a bit pricey compared to others but doesn’t use a padlock which is good, no key to find or lose.
To get the full benefit you do need to remove the handles from your doors and fit the supplied bars, easy enough if the bars are the right length but you need a saw if too long.

Bought on behalf of a friend so not used it myself but it seem well made and easy to use although it does come with it’s own door handle spindles that if you decide to use may need the help of a locksmith if you don’t feel able to remove your door handles and change the spindles, you can use the lock without changing these though

If they want to get in they’ll get in but this just might slow them down or send them to an easier target. Well made and simplicity itself to use. The rubber liners (that presumably prevent handle scratches) fell out on mine so I added a tiny spot of superglue on the bottom of the rubber liner and pushed it back in. Perfect!

Extremely happy with this purchase – recommended by local anti-crime initiative – easy to fit and use, seems solid and strong.
(There is only one type/version of Patlock – do not be persuaded to buy the one advertised at a more expensive price!).

We bought this more to use while we were away from home as a visual deterrent over the bicycle U-Lock we used to use on the patio doors. However it is so easy to fit and remove – no keys, just a push of a discrete button and they slide apart or lock together – that we pretty much use it daily (albeit bearing in mind that the instructions do say it is not a replacement to locking the patio doors, but a back up). We also replaced the door handle spindles with the tamper proof ones supplied in the box, this was quite simple for a confident(ish) DIYer and only took about an hour. Hopefully we’ll never get to know if the product really prevents/delays unauthorised access, but it feels a substantial item and is a far more imposing looking deterrent than a cycle lock hanging loosely over the handles. All in all, very pleased with it.

A friend bought one of these locks and recommended it to me. It provides some additional protection against patio doors being wrenched open, by clamping the two internal door handles. It’s very easy to fit and remove and also provides a visible deterrent.

Seems to have a good write up but doesn’t look as secure as it seems to be so that is a good thing. Plastic inserts keep falling out on removal which it doesn’t mention this should happen in the instructions so I assume this is a fault. It doesn’t change the operation of the device though.

Really happy with my purchase. I bought 2 lots of these after someone I know had both of their cars stolen with the keys after having their patio door locks dismantled like in the video you can see on the advert pics.
I bought one for the ground floor patio doors and one for the bedroom doors which go out to the roof terrace. I feel so much safer now, especially in the bedroom as it would be deemed an easy entry point for thieves in the middle of the night. I am always worried about being broken in to for the car keys. The Patlocks are really simple to use and the added unexpected bonus of replacement spindles is a massive plus. I fitted them today on both sets of doors, so 4 spindles, and it only took me 15 mins max.
    Massive thumbs up

Easy to use, very secure and added peace of mind

We have French doors which were fitted some years ago and therefore do not have up to date euro locks. I had been researching whether to change the locks or fit some type of extra security device. This Patlock is an ideal solution. It is very easy to fit and to take off and requires no additional padlock to fiddle with. The two halves fit over each door handle and are locked firmly together so that the handles cannot be turned even if the door locks are broken. Decorative brass handles are protected by sturdy rubber liners in each side of the Patlock. Highly recommended.

This product is FANTASTIC! I had an attempted break in this week and the exterior handles and locks were snapped and this item was the only thing that stopped them proceeding to enter, absolutely brilliant and I would definitely recommend. If I could score it higher than 5 stars I would.

Lock is very sturdy and easy to install. Only criticism is that the two bits of rubber inside has a tendency to come adrift but with a little bit of super glue fixes it straight away. Would be very difficult to try and turn the handles in order to get in the house. Would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersRecently we’ve had alerts about increased Asian Gold thefts in our area. Feeling very vulnerable I did some research and along with fitting PIR sensor lights and stoppers to our downstairs windows this has given me confidence that our two sets of patio doors are that little bit more secure. I showed this to a double glazing fitter we use who understands how all the locks and mechanisms work and he was amazed and loved it told us to order them ASAP. This lock is extremely stylish not to say elegant! There is no need to be concerned about how it will look if you leave it in place most of the time. It is also incredibly easy to install and use. You can’t really go wrong fitting it. It feels solid and very well made. We did have a problem, because the release buttons require a small amount of pressure and we had bought it for an elderly relative who suffers from arthritis and who wasn’t able to use it for that reason. We contacted the manufacturer who replied immediately and instantly offered to swap out the one we had bought for one he adjusted in the factory to a much lighter touch setting, which he sent us within a couple of days (without waiting for the “return” to arrive) and which worked a dream! It was a level of customer care of which we had no prior experience – at any rate than we can recall – and our elderly relative was both delighted and comforted as indeed are we.

It’s easy to install, once you’re not installing the longer bars, but this is more a deterrent than a solid security option. A well determined intruder would eventually get through these, the hope is they won’t bother and try somewhere easier!

I tried this lock as there were reported break ins in nearby properties which included patio doors. You will be surprised how burglers can break patio door locks where this patlock can act as a deterrent and an added safety. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersReally quick service as arrived the next day. The lock seems really strong and robust and I hope it never gets tested. I couldn’t give 5 stars because it is not easy to lock and unlock. You need to apply a lot of pressure by squeezing in with your thumb and finger while at the same time pushing the two prongs together to lock and the same again, pulling to unlock. I would say that an elderly person may find this hard as I can’t do it every time, it takes me a couple of attempts. Locking is easier than unlocking the device. Maybe over time it will get easier. 20 June – Having had this lock for a few weeks now it has become much easier to pull apart when applying pressure on the two parts. I think this is down to the metal rivets slightly wearing allowing a smoother locking and unlocking process. Great lock.

So many people with rear upvc patio doors who are broken in are usually done so by lock snapping.
This product does not prevent lock snapping.
This product will however mean that regardless if the lock is snapped it will prevent the handles from operating.
Its more of a deterrent that will HINDER but not prevent entry. Your strategy is to dissuade attempts as much as preventing it.

I have one, in conjunction with anti snap locks. That’s the best practice.
This is also very user friendly to operate and much more visually pleasing than much cheaper options out there.

Bought one of these more as a visual deterrent rather than physical. My doors already have upgraded locks and latches, but a determined thief would just smash a pane of glass out to gain entry, which you cannot really protect against easily. Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis looks very simple but it is excellent. I’m just using the security lock and they fit easily over the handles of my conservatory doors, lock easily and very easy to unlock – but give you a real feeling of security as it would be extremely difficult for anyone to now enter from outside when this lock is on. I got these following a burglary in January. I use them every day and feel comfortable leaving my home again. Yes, someone could still break in but they would have to remove the patio doors or break through the glass now- they won’t be able to just walk through what I had previously thought were secure conservatory doors again now I have this lock. I would thoroughly recommend.

Patlock arrived boxed with two door spindles & a couple of small Patlock stickers (I’ve not used the spindles or stickers) The Patlock took only a few seconds to place over the handles & push together until it clicked into place. I didn’t need to remove the Patlock inner sleeves even though our french door handles curve. As the Patlock is mainly white in colour it blends well with our white door frames. I have arthritis in my hands/fingers but unlike other reviewers, I find it quite easy to press the Patlock to unlock & remove. Perhaps it depends on how severe your arthritis is. Glad I bought this, defintely money well spent to secure our large out opening doors.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a brilliant invention, simple and very effective. Never knew that this sort of thing was available until i was told by a friend , so i searched Amazon and found it. Bit pricey for what it is, but then can you put a price on security and peace of mind. I found out while fitting it that you are recommended to change the internal bars from your existing doors to the ones they provide with it to take advantage of the extra security these bars give, added strength in the bars and a security feature that is used when fixing them on. Also.if you where to forget to lock the door, i found that from outside, you can’t turn the handle or handles because of the way these are fitted to the French Door handles on the inside. The French doors have always been a worry as they are certainly the weakest point of the house. However after finding the patlock it looked like just want I needed. It’s super easy to use, no keys, no fuss, just slot over the handles and it’s ratchets tight as you push it together. Then just squeeze the buttons and slide off. I use it’s whenever the doors locked as it’s so simple to put on and take off. It’s very strong and well made and well worth the asking price. Certainly recommend it to anyone with French doors on their home

    Perfect French door security

This is not a cheap item, bit neither is being burgled. A very well made item, not cheap materials, but looks and is robust. Easy to fit on its own or with corresponding spindles. The size isn’t subtle, but it does advertise the presence to any unauthorised visitors. A sound investment in home security and piece of mind. I recommend this item, particularly if your garden and the patio doors are accessible but not easy to monitor. Bulldog

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this hoping to deter opportunist thieves from, what I think of as, the weakest part of our home security. And it is well made and looks as if it’ll stop anyone breaking in through our patio doors. I had to cut the security bars going through the handles as the one’s included were much longer than I needed. But once that was done it was simple to install. I would mention that a friend of ours recently got broken into and the thieves, all well hooded, just smashed the glass in his dooor and walked out a few minutes later with as many valuables as they could carry. There is no way of stopping that kind of attack. But at least we’ll know we’ve done the best we could to protect ourselves.

I bought this for my new French doors which are white, so it’s fairly inconspicuous when fitted. I discovered that you need to press the buttons when pushing the two sides together, then click it tight. Perfect. I haven’t done the spindles because I didn’t want to interfere with my brand new doors but I’m happy with its level of security as is.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersVery pleased with this product. It is effective in making our patio doors a bit more secure and was simple to use straight out of the box. There are replacement spindles that can be used to make it even more secure, but the basic product can be used very easily as it is. Just slip it over the handles, locate the metal bits into the holes provided, press where indicated and close it together. It prevents the doors from being opened. Obviously a determined burglar could smash the glass, but that would be noisy, so seeing this in place may be a deterrent, and that’s got to be a good thing.

This product does exactly what it says. It offers a visible deterant as being visible through french doors. The product feels sturdy and appears to have a good quality build.

It leaves you with the peace of mind that should the locks be drilled they will stand tall. It comes with the spindles provided which also add another layer of security.

Well worth the money for peace of mind.

Good quality, fits perfectly to my French doors, a bit pricey as I had to buy 2,but you get what you pay for and they put my mind at rest, you can’t put a price on that, hopefully any burglar goes elsewhere and don’t try breaking into my new French doors, all we can do is make it harder for and thieving toe rag

Good piece of kit, ordered Fri @ 18:04 delivered on Sat @ 09:00 (standard free delivery!) Thought this item might look a bit too bulky once fitted, but blends well with the doors (white) and looks the part. Although not the cheapest on the market, it is a quality product, nice modern ergonomic design, instantly visible from the outside while not in your face from the interior. It can be used straight out of the box and couldn’t be simpler to use, no keys to lose or code to forget in any escape emergency. I would recommend changing the higher security turn bars for the time it takes so the lowlife’s cannot extract it from the exterior. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend

I put this to use immediately and hopefully will never know if it’s deterred unwanted visitors!. Easy enough to use but I can’t push the connecting rods to the maximum due to mildly arthritic fingers that cannot press the release buttons if it’s fully engaged. I don’t think this affects its efficiency. Arrived less than 24 hours after I purchased it. Not ugly either when it’s in position.

Loved it. We have thought for some time about the vulnerablty of our French doors and although there are cheaper ones on the market. I think ease of fitting and removal counts for a lot ,also considering future wear and tear on the handles .this product appears to take all this into consideration, also it comes with new spindles that hopefully thieves can’t remove to disengage the inside handles.all in all ,simple to fit looks neat good looking deterante from the outside. Very pleased.

I bought this security lock for my French doors unsure whether it would fit or not as my French doors are not the sliding doors, however it fitted perfectly. The instructions are very clear and the device is easy to use. It is very robust and has given me peace of mind as this is the time of year when you see an increase in burglar activity.

It is fitted to my conservatory handles but I do find it difficult to remove on account of arthritic fingers. However I think it is a very good product and will do what it is designed for.

Golden Review Award: 71 From Our UsersThis represents a relatively easy solution to French door security, which is quick to fit – although modifying the square sectioned tamper resistant spindles takes a bit more time! – and easy to use in practice. Nothing will prevent a determined burglar, but with Patlock, much more time and noise will be required to gain entry, and, thus much more risk will be involved! I use Patlock in association with a small battery powered alarm, which is also available on Amazon, and very effective as well as low cost.

I did opt to fit the spindles which needed to be cut but very easy to do. Unfortunately I dropped one of the spring clips inside the door frame whilst doing this. I asked the supplier if I was able to obtain another and they very quickly promised to post me a replacement. So great product and customer service to match.

Word of warning, if like me you dont look what you’re doing when they’re not on the doors and you put them together without looking you can get one of the legs stuck inside the hole for the door handle. Easy to fix, pop the plastic cap off the end and unscrew the screw and it will release it and you can screw it back together.

Slightly tricky to fit at first – needed to cut down the included spindles for the handles – but after that they are easy to attach and very effective. Would recommend, but you need to be able to cut the spindles down with a hacksaw.

This is an excellent bit of kit! Very easy to fit even if you have to change the spindle (which I highly recommend you do)… It’s great for a bit of added security for you home and also a visual deterrent for a ‘would be intruder’ … Also give that extra peace of mind

Very expensive in my view for a product made in China. Well made though but huge profit margin for seller! Probably cost 7-8 to buy.
Product is good and rather unique with no keys though. Bit bulky on doors to leave on all of the time. Would rather suspect someone will copy the idea of sorts and the price will drop. All in all though got to say it’s a great product.

Golden Review Award: 70 From Our UsersThis is a robust product and undoubtedly adds security to my standard French Doors. It looks good and, I am sure, is a deterrent to the casual thief.

My only adverse criticism is that unlocking the mechanism requires significant pressure from the thumbs. Someone with weak or arthritic ones might find this difficult to unlock.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our Usersyes it is very easy to install the main bars without any tool. However, the included replacement spindles are a MUST. They are easy to install too. If you dont the weakest links other than the eurocylinder then it is the internal handle bars which could be removed from the outside because the original spindles could be removed from the outside. (all that assuming they dont go for the glass in the first place). It gives us some additonal peace in mind.

Very easy to install (idiot proof).
You also get 2 tamper proof spindles that replace the spindles in the door. These are easy to fit, just make sure that the handles fit both sides before putting on the tamper clip as once this is one it’s not coming off again.

Great lock which works every time and itsnt obtrusive on doors. Only issue is the plastic isn’t very smooth so hard to keep clean but is minor point which shouldn’t detract from a nice product that add an extra bit of visible and practical security

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersVery sturdy and don’t really look out of place. My door handles are slightly smaller than the holes – but I’ve had a good tug and rattle around, from the inside, and I can’t budge it. Was a little worried as someone with hand issues said she’d struggled with the buttons – but they are reasonably soft squeeze (I have similar issues).

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis works as advertised – BUT be warned, some work needs to be carried out to get the full security benefit!
To prevent the square rods that operate the handles from being knocked through or pulled out, two new rods and circlips are supplied.
These are similar to the originals but with a ridge on the outside, (to prevent knock through), and a serrated surface on the inside such that a circlip can be fitted, (to prevent pull out).
The door handles must be removed, (usually two screws on the inside). Then the rods need to be cut to lenghth, (to suit your door), so hacksaw and a vice needed. The hole inside the door will need to be enlarged, to accept the circlip, (20mm), I used a flat drill bit, (Little bit akward as these drills really need a small guide hole). Then replace the rods fit the circlip and replace the handles.
Without the new rods a buglar would break off the outside handles and knock the operating rods through, (breaking the inside handles) and this device would simply fall off into the inside!
So unless you are a competant DIY type, the full security benefits would not be achieved.

Absolutely Fabulous! I ordered 3 from Amazon @ 47.50 each, during Dragons Den where the company was seeking funding at about 21.30 and they were delivered the next day at 16.30. Wonderful product which is easy to operate and does its job and delivery from Amazon was great and I quite. Understand why the manufacturers do not want the hassle of shipping etc. Thank you Dragons Den for advertising this great product.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFeel happier now I have one of these. Well made product, that supplies two spare handle through bolts to replace the old type that can be removed to open the door, when breaking in. Once the new type has been installed, you can’t slide or pull out, just make sure that the locking disc is on the inside. These are easy to install and took me about 30 mins to replace. To remove the door lock you just need to press a button and slide it off the handles, easy.

How well this stands up to ‘interrogation’ by the would-be scum trying to take your things is anybody’s guess; but in theory it should work very effectively.
For the user, it’s well-designed and thought out; the instructions for installation are clear, and at the end of the day because of it’s finish and general ‘look’ it appears to virtually be a part of the door, and yet it’s is a breeze to fit and remove (from the inside). In spite of looking as if its a part of the door its presence should be fairly obvious to anyone that might be looking for a way to break in, hopefully enough to deter them from bothering.

If I have any concern, it is a relatively minor one that the white plastic casing may become yellowed and unsightly with time, but hopefully the designer/manufacturers have already considered that and taken measures to prevent that it happening.

There are cheaper variants of this idea out there but this will look the neatest and smartest by far and I’m very pleased with the way it looks. I hope it’s performance is never tested.

This is an excellent buy. Very easy to install and use. The following comments may help the confusion I had before purchase:
Firstly, it does not lock with a key. When locked it is released by hand pressure. So an intruder could easily remove by breaking the door glass.
Secondly, it comes with a spindle to replace the spindle on the current door handle. This is not essential as the lock will work without the new spindle. The new spindle comes with a washer which keeps it in place and stops an intruder removing it if they saw off the door handle. So it is worth fitting. Again the spindle is easy to fit – you just need to remove the door handle by undoing the 2 screws and the old spindle will just pull out. The only problem is that the new spindle may need to be sawn down for it to fit your door depth. Mine is a new door, but the spindle did need to be reduced by a centimeter at each end. It is tough metal and this did take some time with a hacksaw. The new spindle needs to be fitted with the fixed washer against the outside of the door. The self locking washer is fitted from the inside, but again if the hole is not big enouh for the washer to fit against the metal locking mechanism in the door, then you will need to drill an increase to the hole in the PVC door to enable it to pass through to the metal lock. This was a bit of a problem for me because my drill bitwas not big enough.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersJust received this bit of kit in the post this morning to secure our conservatory doors .
After reading the reviews and watching a few youtube videos on the lock, I wasn’t relishing the idea of changing the spindles (and maybe having to cut them to size) in my door but decided to order it anyways – glad i did!

the instructions in the box were simple and to the point – it took me a total of about 10 minutes to take the handles off and change the spindles. simply unscrew the handles, pull out the original spindl. Slide the new spindle from the outside in with the groves facing inwards , check that it is the right length by putting the handles back on either side to check they fit back in place properly and then click the slider into place and click tightly over the groves. Screw the handles firmly back into place.
(Id like to note it does say you don’t HAVE to change them – but it helps keep your handles and the lock in place in the event of a break in). They state that the spindles should fit most doors and despite being longer than the ones i removed they fit snugly within the handles.

after that it was just a case of clicking the lock into place over the door, a few people have noted that there is a bit of wiggle room with the lock and that is true but i made to click it as tightly as possible over the handles.

all in all I’m pleased with this purchase, hopefully will act as a good deterrent and if worse comes to worse, stop someone from entering my home from the back!.
