Patlock Instant French Door and Conservatory Security Lock

Bought this as a bit of extra security for patio doors, so simple to use and quick release in case of emergency, I hope I never get to see how well it works but I think it would put opportunist thieves off attempting my house to find somewhere easie

Simple to install, it provides extra security for French double doors, a very good product. I have had one for years and it’s still working like newthe new locks were bought for a friend who is also happy with the locks.

The lock is very easy to get on/ off and feels very solid.

I purchased this as my patio doors shrink a little when its very cold out and refuse to lock until it warms up a bit in the afternoon, so I got this so I can lock them when this happens.

It was very easy to put on and the handles don’t move from the outside, so it’s miles better than the bike lock I was using before.

This is a good quality product, so easy to put on the door handles, there’s no ugly padlock. Some reviewers have said the buttons you depress to lock/unlock are stiff and if you have small/weak hands it may be difficult. Both my partner and daughter have operated it with no issues. It looks professional, far more so than the first one i looked at, at less than half the price, but that looked like i made it in the shed. It also comes with two tamper proof door handle spindles that you can replace for your existing ones. these were easy to fit due to the easy to understand instructions. I also contacted the manufacturer of the product and asked if they would sell two additional spindles for my other doors, and they are sending me them…free of charge. So, very impressed overall with the product, customer service and price. Highly recommended.

Very happy with the patio lock, solid, secure and easy to use. I feel more secure through the night. The inner has a silicone inner to avoid scratching the handles. Just push the ratcheted bars into the opposite holes and push together and press the buttons on both sides to release, no keys needed. Highly recommend this padlock for the added security

Plus it’s a great visual deterrent from outdoors. It doesn’t look out of place when it’s in use, which is really easy to do. Press both the buttons, one on each half, and split it in two. Slide one half onto each of the French door handle, line up the metal rods, and slide together. That’s it, it’s locked. Unlocking is just as easy. The way it works is by firstly locking the handles in place. This in itself stops the door mechanism from unlocking. If absolute brute force or lock-snapping is used to defeat the locks, this gives a secondary protection from the doors being opened. It adds a delay to entry being gained.

Ideally, you do need to take the existing door handles off to install the more secure spindles, but this isn’t a hard job. Any competent DIY’er could do it – or it’s not an expensive job to employ someone. Or, you can install this without the security spindles. Check out YouTube for videos on how it’s done.

This is the third patlock that I have bought.
I have two for our own house, and I have just bought one for my daughter and son-in-law for their patio doors. For me it just gives an extra layer of security, and most importantly , piece of mind. Cannot fault these excellent locks.

When ordering I forgot we only have one door handle “duh” only lived here 10 years lol .. so fitted a heavy duty eye plate. Fits perfect. Solid. Feel much safer now.

A well-made device that feels tough. It is easy to put in place and remove. It takes very little pressure to squeeze the bar to unlock it. It prevents anyone from turning the door handles because it locks them into place horizontally. It’s a great visual deterrent too.
I bought this because there is a series of burglaries going on in my area and my conservatory is 10 years old, so I needed to upgrade the handles as conservatories are often a security weak spot. The best way of preventing a burglary is to make sure that your house is more secure than the rest of the houses in your street. Burglars always attack the softest target.
Just some hints on installing, which is very easy:
1. make sure the black rubber inserts are the right way round so they protect the inside of your door handles (see my photos and the arrow pointing to where the black rubber protector goes).
2. Before fully installing the replacement square profile metal bar in each doorlock, put it in place – without using the round metal clip. This will show how much of it needs to be cut off, and from which side of the door. You can then take the metal bar out and cut it to the right length using a hacksaw.
3. Put the replacement square profile metal bar into place from the outside of the lock, so that the ridged part of the bar shows on the inside section. You can then push the thin round metal clip onto the end as seen in the photo I’ve uploaded. This stops burglars from pulling out the metal bar from outside the house.
4. Some people say that once the clip is in place, the bar is stuck there forever. That isn’t correct. The way to remove it is to remove the internal and external handles, then push the bar in from where the outside handle was. This exposes the round clip. You can then slide 2 sharp blades under the tangs that hold the clip in place, and the clip can then be slid off the bar. Easy!
Even though this isn’t cheap at 49:45, I recommend installing this now!

Super piece of kit, if a little pricey.
Quick and easy to fit, part of the standard lock up on a night.
HOWEVER, it requires two hands at the same time, to release (one on each unit).
If one hand is weak or injured, or simple only one hand available, you cannot release them.
The two plastic springs need to be pressed at the same rime to release the ratchet bars.
We actually inform any guests we have in the event of an emergency.
The internal rubber sleeves could also do with securing. No big deal but a drop of glue wouldn’t harm.
I’m currently making a hefty clip to be on hand nearby to compress one spring, just in case.
They work well though and I’m just pointing out one scenario.
Overall, very pleased.

Recently had french doors fitted and wanted a little extra security for peace of mind. I had already looked into Padlock and been told that our local community police officer had mentioned these as a deterrent for burglary. So easy to apply and remove. Doesn’t look ugly or cumbersome on a modern door. Gives me added piece of mind and I do glad I purchased this product. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Having been burgled a couple of weeks ago… by them breaking in via my French doors… I started searching for some ideas to help make my house safe again. A friend had suggested a “Patlock” and I have no idea what it even was. What a fantastic product. Well made… nice and visible… super easy to fit both the lock and the spindles…. easy to put on and take off. Quality product that does exactly what it says. I heartily recommend.

Introduced to this whilst visiting a family member and thought what a clever neat idea. Fits across both handles of patio doors and locks into place for extra security. Easy to click into place and remove from inside to open doors. Only for double doors with two handles together.

A very useful, easy to use, additional security feature for French Doors. It was recommended by our local Police Home Security advisory service. You need moderate DIY tools/skills to install the hardened door handle shaft, but perfectly do-able for the average guy. Once that’s completed it’s plain sailing thereafter.

This is a simple piece of kit to secure French doors from being forced open. It is Secured By Design so approved. Very easy to install and also comes with additional fittings for the door itself for added security.

Can be a bit tricky to line up the 2 Patlock metal bars to fit the device to the door handles at first but once you’ve got the knack it’s easy. It appears to work very well in securing patio doors.

I bought a cheaper version first which proved to be almost impossible to fit and remove, for my wife it was far too difficult.. Bought this Patlock to resolve the problem and it did easily, it is easy to fit and remove quickly. Fitting the new handle spindles to make the doors fully secure took some effort and drilling but was well worth the effort knowing the doors were as secure as possible. The item looks stylish from inside and out but at the same time gives a look of added security to the property. I would recommend.

A must have for any French or patio doors. Provides that extra bit of security and provides reassurance for when not at home. It’s surprising how easy it is for housebreakers to knock out the locking mechanism of the doors, and this padlock would certainly stop or at the very least slow them down enough for them police to arrive.

We got these following a couple of break-ins through patio doors in our street. Really simple design, but effective, in that it means the door handles can’t be depressed from outside, even if the lock has been drilled through.

Not “expert burglar” proof I’m sure, but it’s an extra layer of security that might make people think twice, so well worth the investment.

No dislikes, plenty of likes. Even if someone tried to drill out the locks of the doors, they still could not get in as the Patlock is on the inside of the french doors. So easy to use, well worth the money. Happy buyer.

Extremely easy to open & close lock offering an enhanced level of security. Will fit any door sized door handles. Well designed rounded shape. The muted pale grey “Patlock” logo faces in towards the room which is not harsh on the eye. However the Logo on the other side of the lock is a rather more striking black & yellow colour. See photo of colour difference. This logo is clearly visible from outside & also reflects in the dark, so a good deterrent. The box the lock arrived in contained simple instruction but also had a couple of the same black & yellow logo stickers which you can stick onto your windows as another measure of security. There is no combination code, dial or key needed, it’s a simple & easy to use push & pull mechanism. There are rubber barrels inside the lock which you push the door handle into. Not sure if these are to avoid scratching the handles on the plastic interior, or to be removed to accommodate chunkier handles. In any case, these do seem to fall out at times when opening the lock, so I might glue mine in, but it doesn’t stop me giving the product its well deserved 5 stars. Very happy with this lock & well priced so can definitely recommend.
