    Absolutely brillia
We saw a review for this and having already owned a shark upright cordless vac, we thought we would purchase this. It has exceeded all our expectations.
It is so light and powerful and easy to store and with a good charge, we would not be with out it.
Far better and easier than a dustpan and brush. It also comes with two attachments to help you clean more areas.
It was also cheaper on Amazon than John Lewis, Curry’s, etc.

Very happy, expensive yes, well made, good at what it does, could be heavy for some. Leave it handy, do not put it way.

    Best Handheld Vacuum
After numerous handheld vacuums I eventually closed my eyes and bought the Shark. Thank you. What a difference. Lightweight, easy to empty, easy to use, quick to charge. I have no negative comments regarding this product.

    2nd attemp
This was a replacement for the same product ordered the week before. I was really pleased with the initial vacuum, but, the handset started switching off after about 30 seconds a week in. Normally I would have returned for a refund, but it seemed to be a rare fault so I thought I would give them another attempt. Up to press it seems ok, but I’m withholding a verdict till a month or so in. Exemplary customer service from Amazon, as ever, but we will wait to see if Shark can deliver with a quality product.
The vacuum performed well, but only for a few days…let’s wait and see if the second one is better.

    Double battery users note this.
Just received my Shark handheld WV251UK model. First thing you are advised to do in the instruction leaflet that comes with it is charge the batteries fully. Now this is where I had what I thought was a problem, I had a battery in the charging tube and one in the vacuum itself, The light at the bottom was a steady blue which according to the leaflet meant the battery was charged and ready to go. I had the charger facing the wall as the light through the window made it difficult to see whether the blue charging light was steady, fading in or out or flashing. I was under the impression that the battery in the vacuum itself was not charging, as every time I took the spare battery out of the charger the blue light went out. A call to Shark customer services was needed I thought, when I mentioned the light going out I was told the connections on the charger and the vacuum itself were magnetic and just for holding the vacuum in place whilst it was on the charger. I was flummoxed because those connectors looked like charging points to me. Anyway to cut a long story short, a quick look on youtube and the problem was cleared up, when you put the handheld on to the charger it is indeed being charged, but the blue light at the bottom has nothing to do with it, the power button on the vacuum itself flashes when it is charging. The blue light on the bottom of the charger only applies to the battery that is being charged on the back tube of the charger, this only starts charging when the battery in the hand held has fully charged. No mention of this in the leaflet that came with it of course! Anyway it is to early to tell if this vacuum will be any good, as I have just gone over a window blind and then a few stairs to try it out. The suction is nothing to write home about but if it does the stairs (the reason we bought it) without straining anything as it is lightweight, it will have done what we bought it for. If you need to know anything about this vacuum, go onto youtube, don’t bother going to Shark customer services because they haven’t got a clue either!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe new King of the kitche
Being a slightly odd chap who enjoys the thrill of the research as much as the purchase, I watched numerous old QVC videos selling the Shark Cordless Handeld Vacuum Cleaner. I just couldn’t get enough of our cousins over the pond cleaning up colourful brekfast cereals, ‘dust bunnies’ (I had to look this one up) and kitty litter. After exhausting the interwebs of available clips, I was sold and put in my order. Having a two year old, I am in the target audience for this product – someone who quickly wants to clear up a little spill in the kitchen without having to drag out the main vacuum from under the stairs. The product arrived and It was set up with gusto. It hasn’t dissapointed. The Shark handeld laughs in the face of cereal, toast crumbs, sugar, dried herbs and more. It’s powerful for what it’s designed for and looks good in its spot in the kitchen, ready to suck those irritating dust bunnies from the floor. It’s even superseded the main vacuum at times, allowing me the chance to have a quick, cord free clean of the stairs. My partner tells me that my new obsession is unattractive and that if I whip my Shark out one more time, she’ll take the toddler and leave me. Just give her a day or two. I know she’ll come round to its appeal. Who in their right mind couldn’t?! It’s brilliant!

    Surprisingly good!
For its small size this really does pick up stuff. Dust, hairs, wood shavings and metal swarf, are all easily sucked up. Easy to empty so the small hopper isnt a problem.

The 8 minute run time on one battery is enough for most jobs. It isnt meant for cleaning the whole stairs!

I went for the two battery version which leave one in reserve for bigger jobs. Attachments are good but a shame the stand doesnt have space for the wider brush. For this reason plus the price of the second battery, it loses a star for me

This is fantastic!! Best thing I have bought in ages. My puppy keeps bringing in bits of leaves etc from the garden and this vacuum cleaner is so easy to Hoover without having to get out my large shark pet hair Hoover. Good for picking up crumbs/ fluff off the floor etc. I wouldn’t be without it and love Shark products. You will use all the time! Thank you shark for making my life easier.

Best thing I could have bought for baby weaning!
Bought this because I started weaning my baby and was getting fed up of having to get the vacuum cleaner out after every meal. This has great suction, isn’t too noisy and the battery lasts long enough for a quick blast of a few rooms.

    Excellent machine
Bought this to replace our dyson hand held machine. The dyson was heavy in comparison although we were quite happy with the function of the dyson. The Shark has excellent suction and can get into small areas as it is so slim. We bought the two batteries model and I can go round all the skirting boards of our three bedroom bungalow with ease. Only criticism is poor brush on the slim tool.

Very convenient and very easy to use
This was bought primarily as a car vacuum – at which it does well. It is very lightweight, compact and easy to take out to you car. Each battery will last for about 8 minutes as stated – this is enough to keep on top of a not badly neglected car interior. This vac excels at ad hoc dust and bits duty – any dust or bits you see, crumbs, dusty computer screens, dusty tables, you just pick it up and dust – no cables or plugs to connec

Go mine for £99 single battery for the car and it's brilliant.
So to be honest I did get mind at a discount so that contributed a lot to overall satisfaction. The initial intent was for the car only but its so easy and quick to use I find myself getting it out for almost all spills that a hoover would normally handle. Only had it for a couple of week though so this is a ‘so far so good’ review.

dropped suction a star because it doesn’t seem to be lifting smaller metal things like tiny electrical screws which id have thought wouldn’t be a problem.

Looked long and hard with plenty of research before buying a handheld cordless vac. Finally opted for this one as we already have a Shark corded vac and the steam mop, which we’ve always been impressed with. Got to say this thing has great suction for it’s size. You’ll never get the suction of a corded vac with something battery operated so don’t really understand some reviews saying poor suction. We went for the twin battery option to give a little longer run time. It looks great too, so much better than some of its competitors, which are just down right ugly. I was tempted to buy direct from Shark but at time of writing this review it was 25 cheaper on Amazon! My only slight niggle is that the two attachments that come with it, only one can be stored on the base unit at a time and the vac itself can’t be stored on the base unit with one attached. Can’t understand why the design team didn’t include a facility to store both attachments… would have made sense to me. Anyways it’s not enough of an issue for me not to give 5 stars. Great piece of kit and would recommend to anyone who’s looking to save themselves the annoyance of dragging out the corded vac for doing the car or those little bits of mess around the home.

Brilliant little vacuum, we mostly use for hoovering crumbs off our sides and chairs or cleaning up after our baby so I can’t comment on battery life as it always goes back on charge straight after use. Suction is great though and it’s lightweight enough. We bought a cheaper little vacuum first which we thought was quite good until we got this and now realise the other was actually terrible.

Very handy, especially for hard surfaces
Suction is good. Great for hard surfaces. Not fantastic on carpet with any pile, so although it’s handy for picking up bits on a few steps, I wouldn’t want to do the whole set of carpeted stairs. Did most of the car on one battery, but glad that I went for the twin battery, as once you get it on carpet or upholstery (or the cat tree cushions) it seems to run down quickly.

This is amazing! After following the instructions to fully charge then discharge the battery by running it until the battery run out. I have used it in the car And the run time on one battery has been ample. Fantastic product.

This is the best I’ve ever used. So powerful and easy to use. Great battery life. I’ve tried lots of others on the market and this beats them hands down. Brilliant for using in the car saves taking out main vacuum and extension lead!! The model with the additional battery makes sense if you use it extensively but the battery does last for up to 16 minutes of continuous use. I’ve recommended this to many friends and when tradesmen have used it to clear up they are amazed at how well it performs. Don’t be fooled by the Dyson hype.

Love this handheld!!! My cat is always dragging cat litter through the house, this picks it up perfectly. Gets used several times a day. Great for quick jobs, wouldn’t be able to hoover whole house with it, battery lasts about 8 mins, which is long enough for the small jobs, but you do always have the spare battery fully charged and ready to go should you need it. I use my full sized shark for the big jobs. Very easy to empty, no mess.

The best handheld vac I’ve had.
I absolutely love my new handheld shark vacuum. I previously had a Dyson handheld and it was hopeless. The battery charge didn’t last and it was bulky and heavy. This vac knocks my old one out of the park. It’s brilliant. So with this particular package you get a vac, a spare battery, two nozzles and the charging stand. Everything fits nicely into the stand so it takes up a fairly small space. The vac charges within a couple of hours and the joy of this one is because you have a spare battery it never runs out. To charge the battery you need to put it inside the vac and plug in the stand. A pulsing blue light shows the battery is charging. When this light goes dim and stops flashing the battery is charged. You will know it needs charging when the same blue light flashes while you are using the vac. The same light also warns you of a blockage. If it flashes twice then stops you need to unblock it. This hasn’t happened to me so far. We have used this so much. It’s brilliant for sucking up crumbs off the table cloth. I use it to vac the stairs every week and I’ve vacuumed the car out on a couple of occasions. The charge lasts ages. Certainly long enough to give the car a good clean and if you do run out you just pop in the other battery. I love the fact it has tools as the crevice tool is brilliant for car seats and sofas. I use the other nozzle when I do the stairs. The suction is brilliant and much better than my old Dyson. It also feels really nice in the hand. Not to heavy but robust and well made. It’s very easy to use. The on/ off button is on the top ( this lights up and is the charging light etc) and to empty the dust chamber you just slide up the other button and the vac opens up underneath. So you just hold it over your bin , slide the button….job done. Inside It has a metal filter to stop big bits going where they shouldn’t and a cloth washable filter. Both are easy to find and the cloth one just pulls out for washing. I can’t fault the design at all. I’ve tried quite a few handheld vacuums over the years and this far surpasses them all. I would recommend this to all my friends and family. It’s my best buy this year.

This is my third attempt to get a powerful hand held battery vac. This is the best yet and very good value so I would recommend despite the rather unorthodox shape. Fantastic for the current lockdown situation – the kids spill things all the time, craft things like glitter or various food crumbs and clean up is a doddle with this. I love my large Shark vacuum, it leaves the carpets so clean but this is ideal for those quick clean ups – after making toast, a quick dust of the skirting or stairs.

This review was written after having this for one month.

The vacuum is a much better device than the one we had before, it comes with two batteries which charge independently with one in the stand and one in the vacuum itself, so you should always have power.

We just use it for stairs and small messes which it handles well with one battery being able to do all of the stairs and more.
The vacuum itself is noisy so it sounds like it should have a lot of suction but it’s not a good as I had hoped, although adequate or what we use it for.

The waste compartment is small but as long as you empty it after every use it isn’t a problem. Emptying is very easy, just hold over the bin and press the button.

Light and portable but could have more suctio

    Wow - what a screamer!
Bought this to replace a Black & Decker Pivot and was initially surprised by how noisy it was. But you soon get used to it and in every other way it’s a vast improvement and is well designed and built. It’s surprisingly powerful, quick to charge, light and comfortable to hold and easy to get into awkward spaces like the car. It’s compact size isn’t a drawback and you soon get used to flipping the dust collector into the bin after each use. Unexpected benefits include using it as a spider catcher and as ‘bellows’ to blow air into the log burner using air from its exhaust. The tools are handy although I don’t use them that much but I’m not sure you need a second battery – you get about 10 minutes use out of it which is more than enough for small jobs. Anything more and I get the full size cordless vac out anyway. Thoroughly recommended.

Wish I bought one years ago
Have had the Shark handheld vacuum cleaner for about a month now, including over Christmas. We’ve found it so useful in the house and for cleaning our camper van too. I found it so much easier to clean the stairs than lugging the large one up and down. Also great for grabbing cobwebs, crumbs and general fluff.

I have had this product over a year now and it is still fantastic. It is perfect for everyday use picking up crumbs and pieces on the floor, great on the stairs and really good for giving the car a quick once over. Really happy with it.

    Useful everywhere!
This gets referred to as ‘Baby Shark’ in my house and has proved to be far more useful than expected and is lightweight but very powerful for its size.
It’s great for crumbs, cobwebs and brilliant for dusting skirting boards or picking up random clumps of pet hair.
It’s ok for general dusting (but no substitute for an actual duster of course).
My only suggestion for improvement would be a way to store the two attachments with the vacuum itself.
The debris container is small (only really an issue with pet hair), but it is so quick & easy to empty that it isn’t a problem.
I wish I’d bought one ages ago.

I love this. So handy for quick cleaning if I cannot be bothered to pull my big corded shark out. I mainly use this to clean stray litter from litter box, cleaning the stairs, car and sofa. It’s lightweight. Battery definitely lasts longer than 8 minutes but handy to have other battery. I have been rotating them so both getting used. Definitely a good purchase in my eyes!

    Works really well
Easy to use, and does a great job.

The suction is excellent for a hand-held device, it’s comfortable in the hand. Also easy to empty.

The battery life may be a little on the short side, but that’s alleviated by the second battery (and is actually fine for the kind of thing we use it for – work-surfaces, small spills, sofa crumbs, etc).

The only complaint (and it’s a stretch to call it that) is lack of tool storage. It comes with two tools, but the stand only has space for one – which results in the other one being left lying around. And as we all know, vacuum cleaner attachments that aren’t carefully stored will escape to freedom as soon as nobody is looking. This is the kind of oversight that I don’t expect from Shark. (I expect it from others, but not Shark)

I have no reservation in recommending this product.

(I can’t rate it for “stairs”, since we don’t have any)

Has great suction power for a handheld
This is a light and powerful handheld. I have two cats and a messy teenager – this is great for hoovering up the mess. Much less hassle than getting out the vacuum cleaner. Only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is because the docking station does not hold both the accessory tools – only one can be on the dock which leaves the other rattling around in the drawer. Would have thought it would be easy to design the brush head so that it hooked onto the crevice tool.

    Great produc
I bought this to clean my car and it does the job well. Suction power is very impressive for a small cordless hoover. only 4 stars as it doesn’t come with a very good selection of heads and could do with a narrow one to get to all those hard to get places in a car.

I had previously bought a cheaper version but it wasn’t great so went for this instead and i’m glad I did.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAlm most perfect!
I’ve been through four handhelds — mostly useless. I bought the Shark on a Which? recommendation together with a personal recommendation from a friend. Upside: compact, very portable and sucks strongly enough to take your arm off! Downside (and this really is the most ridiculous failing) it comes with two attachments — a crevice tool and a broad brush head — but the storage and recharging stand ONLY HAS A STORAGE SLOT FOR ONE OF THEM!!! The machine can’t be stored with an accessory in place so there’s always going to be one or other floating around trying to get lost. At 120+ quid I’d expect a tad more thought than this. Still, I’ll forgive Shark since it works so well. But … what Wallies…

Not as good as I expected
I really like the slimline design & the extra battery that is concealed in the base unit. I have a full size Shark which has excellent suction however the suction on this smaller one doesn’t match up. It doesn’t pick up all the bits of fluff that come off of socks on to carpet without me pulling them loose first. It’s better than the hand held that I had years ago but that only cost about 30.

Magic – just what i have been looking for – solution to a particularly annoying dust problem!!
Light /easy to use. – yes maybe a short attention span -(8 minutes) but with the back up battery – no problem.
Relying on the Shark quality – not to let me down.
considering buying a larger model – finding my plug in machine heavy to use.in the main house.
Had to give suction 4 stars – BUT ideal for my needs.

    Small, but very powerful
The thing to remember about this cleaner is that it is small, therefore it will need emptying often and it might need charging more often than larger models (It charges up quite quickly). If you bear these factors in mind, you will not find a better, more powerful cleaner. It is long and narrow and can reach crevices other machines ignore eg: the awkward fiddly bits in a car’s interior, down the back of the sofa or under the fridge. It cleans the stairs really well managing to get into all the corners and I also use it to clean my bookshelves.
Its size also means it is easy to store. I keep mine in my cleaning drawer along with the dusters and polish.
To sum up: it is more powerful than most cordless, handheld machines but you can only use it for about 15 minutes at a time – but you can get a lot done in 15 minutes.

I love this! It is super light and nippy and easy to charge on a neat stand that does not need to be mounted. Really powerful and the two attachments included have been useful for cleaning up the car. Wish the stand had a place for both the attachments to dock or clip on so that you don’t risk losing them but overall feel this product deserves a great review and is well worth the money.

Good for quick pick up of crumbs etc. Handy to have with pets around too. Glad I bought it but am pleased it was on sale as quite pricey for the limited use. I was able to buy this 2 battery version for the price of the single battery version. Worth having the 2 batteries so you can swap over straight away if in mid use.

This is possibly one of my favourite purchases ever. I don’t know how I coped without this. I have two furbabies who come in and out of the house all day, dragging in leaves and grass etc. I am forever grabbing my Shark and picking up little bits and pieces – it has good suction and picks up everything. Having two batteries is great, and its its all stored compactly in the base unit. Love it.

Good quality construction. Convenient charging station and tools holder. Easy to use & empty.
Like the ability to pick up pet hair from cushions etc – which some mains vacuums struggle to do. Easy to empty. Freestanding charging station combined with tools holder is convenient. Dislike: price and comparative lack of power – but I guess quality costs money and a battery-powered hand-held can’t be expected to compete with a mains-powered machine. Overall verdict: Good so far. Waiting to see how many charging cycles the battery will manage.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMake sure the filter isn't clogged
Very disappointed with this. As soon as you use it, it clogs around the filter. The size of the dust collector is irrelevant because you have to empty the container a couple of times within 5 minutes to keep any suction. And it doesn’t seem capable of picking up much anyway.

The narrow attachment isn’t long enough to get down the side of my car seats.

I will give it another week, but it’s very likely it will go back. I intended to use it for stairs and car to avoid getting the main vacuum out – but it’s so poor it doesn’t do the job.

I haven’t tried a cheap handheld – but it’s hard to believe it would be worse, and it would cost a lot less that 180!

ETA : After a week away, I used it to clean my car – this was the acid test. If it didn’t clean the mats – which were very dirty from mud and sand – it was going back.
Much to my surprise, it did a decent job – and didn’t clog the filter. It needed both batteries but the car did end up clean – although access to the side of the seats is still limited.
I will think it’s a tad over priced, but I’ve added a star and it did a good enough job that I will keep it.

ETA2 : Have continued using this – including on my other car, that gets cleaned literally once a year – and it is doing the job well. The biggest issue is that the filter can get clogged very quickly, at which point it stops picking up anything. I had to empty the filter about 3 times while doing my neglected car.
Bit of a design flaw, but if you do that it seems to work well. I’ve reached the point where it’s become very useful and I’m actually glad I bought it.
    Added another star.
