A very simple and cost effective piece of kit. It takes a few minutes to understand how the calibration works and the instructions are simple. If you can it’s useful to test where you know you would find metal or AC wires to get to know how to use the scanner. Very pleased with this purchase.
Was skeptical at first with the low price tag but thankfully I didn’t need to be. Product is and performs just the description states.
I wanted to put the tv on the wall above the gas fire on our wide chimney breast. I knew it wasn’t buck behind the plaster and needed to find the wood frame. Tested on other walls first and it found the joists and centres. Sometimes it takes a couple of re-calibrations, but I’m the the type of foyer that checks/measures several times before doing something anyways. Anyway, turns out there must have been solid sheet wood behind the breast anyways as the detector stayed on full bars across the breast.
Also tested the wire setting which works very well too.
Would definitely recommend. Especially to the casual diy fanatic like me.

First of all, I wish I had bought this a long time ago. Over the years I have spent the extra money to have things installed by tradespeople, as I was not confident in drilling through walls in fear of hitting electricity cables or weak spots when putting up shelves or TV brackets. Now I have this fantastic little gadget!
I am delighted to say this is a very well-built, quality piece of equipment, and YES it comes with a battery too! The item arrived well packed and securely boxed, with simple instructions if needed (to be honest, it is very simple and intuitive to use straight away).
I have been testing it around the house, and I can easily ‘track’ the cables across the walls leading from light switches, plug sockets etc. Since receiving the device, I have already securely installed a TV bracket in the kid’s bedroom.
The onboard LCD screen is also top quality, bright, easy to read and understand. The centre bar will fill and the audible beep will indicate the presence of any wooden beam, steel girder, electric cable etc. I am already planning my next 3 projects using this device to put up bookshelves and another TV bracket. 10/10 product. Do not be without this Tavool Wall Scanner!

Not too many button going on and the button that they do have are easy to press (I say this because either uve got poor dexterity like me, this is a feature I really like about this machine). The screen on it is very easy to read also.
What a handy tool! Wish I’d got it a week before before we drilled the wall holes. At least it provides peace of mind knowing where the studs are. As others have mentioned, please calibrate each time when using on the wall type. Handy guiding arrows on which direction to proceed and beeping once centerlines are found. Good price for simple, plastic body tool and handy DIY tool. Note this is not a ruggedised item if that’s part of your criteria.
I bought the scanner for helping put up shelves and pictures in my daughter’s new house. It worked a treat, with pretty good accuracy. Instructions were simple to follow and it was easy to use. Definitely will be a permanent feature in my tool box. A bargain for under 20.
I once drilled close to a wire and had to open a big hole up to repair it. This device has helped me never do this again. It is easy to use and I find it very reliable. An absolutely essential piece of kit in my tool box. Good price and I am a very happy DIY person now
Bought this as we are moving and will need to put up pictures, curtains and other soft furnishings. I have used it around the flat and it’s very good at telling you where things are and scans for live wires on every setting. I also didn’t realise when buying that it has a deep setting which is going to come in very handy.

I needed a detector to show the location of wooden studding and live wiring in a stud wall prior to putting up shelving. At first the impression was that the device was a bit erratic in it’s readout. However, once I took my time, practiced a bit and got used to the display I found it accurate and reliable.
Great tool. I’m glad I purchased this as I had marked up the wall to fix a tv mount. Precisely where I marked up I located a live wire using the scanner. I haven’t yet used it to find studs etc however the accuracy with locating the wire can’t be faulted. In addition this is far better priced then many others I looked at.
Ordered this to check that the planned position for some art on one of our walls would be OK. Good job I did. The exact spot I’d intended to nail into was above an electrical cable!

Bought to test for live lighting cables cables when fitted picture frame to the wall as I knew the cables for the 2 lights either side where behind the wall somewhere Tested found where the live wires where and adjusted the screw locations to miss

Very easy to use. I am a simple DIYer and found the studs and electrics in my plasterboard wall very easily. You simply click mode and then scan across the wall.

I did a lot of research before buying the Tavool Stud finder and Scanner. I didn’t want to pay a fortune for the odd time I would use it. I’m so pleased I decided on this one for several reasons.
You don’t have to continually hold down the calibration button
It pinpoints the centre and edges of a stud both visually and with sound.
You can reduce the sensitivity by re calibrating near to the unseen object to more accurately pinpoint and reduce false positive readings.
It’s comfortable to hold and easy to use.

I was having issues with the stud finder at first but once I actually read the instructions and calibrated the unit as instructed it worked very well. It’s paid for itself in the first job and saved me from a hidden AC wire. Even came with a battery which is so handy when you just want to get DIY projects finished.

After viewing some of the negative reviews I was almost put off buying this product, I’m glad I went with my own instinct’s and purchased the item, after checking the wall for studs it was very accurate, all I can say is if you read the supplied instructions the item works as described and did a good job for me, highly.
For what you pay this is a brilliant product and I had no trouble using it, especially as I hadn’t used one before. I didn’t the initial knock test then calibrated it correctly by reading the instructions and watching a few vids, the instructions aren’t perfect but the diagrams/imaging really helped for which steps to follow. Will definitely be using again shortly to hang other items as it’s just so simple and easy to use.
we came across this product on you tube (by Tavool group video) , They gave a good explanation on how to use it and based on good reviews given, we decided to get the Tavool stud finder. We read the instructions , inserted the batteries , went back on the You tube Videos and the product works absolutely fine. By calibrating at a position on the the wall and moving slowly , it picks up wooden or metal studs behind the walls in stud scan and deep scan mode on the LCD screen and guides you to exact location or center of the stud. Also good at sensing live ac wire and metals in the metal scan mode. Very easy to use and came with manual.
The stud finder, deep scanner and metal detector all work very well. It’s super useful to know what’s behind the wall before you drill so you can plan fixings and not hit anything you shouldn’t. The live wire scanner seems a bit more tricky to use. I believe this is due to it being highly sensitive. Moving it too fast causes it to beep, presumably because of the static electricity. Being even remotely close to anything electrical will trigger it to beep constantly as well. For example it was displaying my whole wall was full of live electrics up to about 2.5m from my fridge. While this is unfortunate, it did still work very well in other areas of the house, away from larger electrical appliances.
The Tavool stud finder was delivered to my home very quickly. It arrived safely with a brand new 9v battery. Once the battery is installed, it is very easy to use. The on/off button is very useful to turn off to save the battery power. Changing the mode is very easy and it is even easier with beep sounds and once you are familiar with the symbols of the corresponding detection mode. The detection of ac wire, metal or stud is very accurate. I have read few reviews which indicated that the device doesn’t detect accurately. However, I found it very accurate. This is my first buy of this kind of device and I am very pleased with the performance. Definitely, I would recommend this product.
I’ve been pretty impressed with how accurate this little thing is. Already used it for a few little jobs round the house and has hit the stud bang on every time. For the money it’s been brilliant, just remember to calibrate it every time it leaves the wall.
Cheap-no need to buy an expensive tool when this does the job perfectly! It’s easy to use with only 2 buttons – mode and automatic calibration, unlike other products which you have to do yourself, very accurate at finding studs, wood beams and ac wires, should have bought this years ago!

Display screen is well lit and indicator informs you exactly where the central point of the stud etc is.

Checking for potential problems on a wall I was using to install my tv bracket gave me peace of mind with this device. I tested for studs, metal, and AC power against known objects and all modes detected well. This device is supplied with instructions on calibrating the unit, as well as a 9v battery which makes it a must buy. I’m happy with everything about this device it does exactly what it says.

As a parent, my house tends to evolve every now and again which means that I have to drill holes through the walls occasionally to put things up.
In the past whilst drilling, I have come across electric cables or a metal pipe so it’s essential that I know what is behind the wall before I start drilling.
This is where the wall scanner has been a life saver. It’s very easy to use, only has 2 buttons. One to select the mode and the other to start scanning.
You simply select the mode (wood, metal, electric etc.), then press the scan button and the device will show bars and continuous beeping if it detects anything behind the surface. Many would agree if you drill into anything unintended, it can be a costly exercise to fix any damages so with the wall scanner there should be no excuse.
I live in a new build so most of my walls are plasterboard and works perfectly fine. I haven’t really tested this on other surfaces but so far it’s been great for me.
Love the ease of use, very accurate and quality instruction manual. Needed to find studs in cavity wall and it did so with ease also has a warning indication when your are near electrics. Finds metal studs, live electric cables, copper pipes. Really really useful tool for the DIY’er and budding professional.
Works pretty good. For the price no complaints. The instructions arent written in the best English but they are understandable. The screen shows which direction items are to be found and the buttons seem solid and should last a while.
This product is extremely helpful as it was very accurate and easy to use. the instruction pamphlet provided are easy to understand and allow you to get stared with using the product asap. This product allowed me to locate the centre of studs easily and also accurately locates any live wires and metal pipes therefore providing me with confidence when drilling into walls!

I liked the reassurance of being able to find probable wiring, pipes and studs etc before drilling holes in the wall. Time needs to be taken and patience and persistence are required but it did work.
The leaflet gives comprehensive instructions but it would be much improved if the product display diagram was printed much larger and the photo’s. also are too small to see properly and show a heavily reflected detector.
I had to find the leaflet on line, enlarge the diagram and hand draw the symbols in order to have them to hand (while detecting) until I learnt them. The information on line on the tavool website and youtube videos is useful.
For the reassurance the detector was well priced and came in its own handy storage box.

We recently moved into a new house with plasterboard walls and wanted to mount a TV to the wall. When speaking with a friend about the process, they advised us to get this so we could locate any metal or wooden beams behind the wall or any power cables.
Although we haven’t installed the TV yet, the product does seem to locate power cables, as well as wooden beams and metal beams behind the wall. By moving the device across the wall, it appears to pinpoint the precise location.
So far we have been impressed.
Well, delighted to find this little gadget. Instructions very good and up and running in no time. Does exactly as described – what a help this has been in locating straps. Has four functions so you can easily locate pipe work, wiring etc.
Stating the obvious hope it does what it is supposed to do, tried it on a spare piece of plaster board, with a piece of metal, electric cable and a wooden batten, put under it, the device found every piece, the only thing was the piece of metal, as it said in the instructions, is does not find the centre, you find the 2 sides (which could be a few centimetre’s away from the centre) then the metal is in the middle, (maybe too sensitive ? ) but tried it a few times with the same result. Next step is trying it for real.
Used this to secure some squeaky floorboards (finding joists/checking for power cables) and putting up shelves (checking for power cables) and it was fine. Is very sensitive to power showing them in many places but erred on the side of caution and got the jobs done. Happy with the product and it was very easy to use and understand.
This tool is really easy to use. Just remember to calibrate it each time. It could probably save your life. I wish I had it a few years ago when I pierced a pipe while fixing some shelves. It would have saved me from an unwanted shower. Since then I am always worried when I have to drill in my walls, but with this now I can do it confidently.
At this price I did not really expect it to work this well, but I have had it for some time now and used it on a number of jobs where I needed to avoid drilling into mains cables in walls and have also used in when screwing down lose floorboards to check for joist location. You do need to pay attention to the instructions and take care to calibrate it and take your time but so far it has worked well for me.
I’ve tested this product by laying out a board with a stud, copper pipe and live wire extension beneath it.
1. Stud test is very good. Just need to make sure to place the tool on the board surface without stud below it
2. Metal test is also very good. Identify the copy pipe pretty accurately
3. Live Wire test is not too good. I place the live wire extension beneath the board and calibrate the tool in the air. however it didn’t seem to find the wire when I pass the tool over it on the board surface. It did find it when I move the tool to the edge of the board where the extension lead start going beneath the board.
I’ve also test around the light switches on the wall and sometime it just beep every where and other times seem better. I would be very careful when using this to find live wire
he stud detector is a great little tool that I was able to use extremely quickly, it took a few moments of playing around on areas where I knew there were wires and studs to get to grips with it but once this was done I was fully trusting of the result. It allowed me to drill a couple of holes close to wires, pipes, and studs with relative comfort. Delivery was fast and well packaged
I got this Stud Finder to help check walls for studs and for safety due to electrical wires hidden within walls.
This has been great so far as it has enabled me to find the studs behind the wall and to be able to add the shelfing and larger photo frames I wanted to install.
I have also tested the finder in locations where i already knew electrical wires to be installed behind the wall and it identified these without any issues.
The finder is easy to use and accurately identified the studs and electrical cables to help give me confidence that it was the right location and safe to drill into the wall.

I used the TH250 to detect where studs were to enable me to put a new door way into my dining room, it was accurate and easy to use (Even for a none techie like me).
I also re-arranged my kitchen and in doing so I needed to put another electric socket in (for the new position for the tumble dryer) it was by the pipework so I needed to know exactly where the pipework was. The TH250 was accurate and really easy to use.
I have used it to check before putting a shelf up in the living room and it found a live electric wire, the TH250 saved me again.
Really pleased with purchase, its easy to use and easy instructions, I am often drilling to hang pictures and so far have been lucky but being in an older cottage decided it was tine to invest, I cant do complicated and this is perfect, pleased with the price and quick delivery
Bought this as a lightening deal for a really good price. The product works great, I needed it to locate studs in my wall before attaching furniture to the wall but have also tested it with metal work and electricals. Works fab will definetly be useful!
Comes in a good quality carboard box with clear and easy instructions. Works well on stud walls and also I found it can detect electrical wiring through solid walls. Having one of these takes the stress and risk out of drilling holes through something you don’t want to hit. Very happy with the product.
I’m using this to help me fit skirting boards in a new house. The plasterboard is fixed on 1 inch battens so I need to be accurate. It arrived quickly and, with a quick skim of the instructions, worked straightaway. Pleased that Tavool include a battery.
Detects studs, metal and live current well. Minus 1 star because when in stud mode the live current warning light is always illuminated, though in live current mode it works correctly. The instructions are not the best English but good enough to describe how the various modes work and troubleshooting steps. Added bonus, the unit came supplied with the required 9 volt battery.
Easy to use, clear readings and great price. I have tried it the same spots and receive the same readings, so I’m confident on it’s accuracy.

My hubby, tends when drilling into a wall, hits studs or an in drillable material. Then has to polyfil the holes and relocate to another suitable area of the wall for the job been done. He says this saves him time and his temper, as it gives him the area of where he can/cannot drill and adjusts accordingly.
Simple to use after a few practice runs through the four modes, to get use to and understanding you are doing it correctly.

After viewing many of these tools I plumped for the Tavool. I needed it to fix a dolly washer line to the ceiling and walls. The anchor needed to be strong because of the wet wishing. Finding the studs was key. This device was a good choice as it detected the studs in the wall perfectly, right to the centre. Highly recommend this for its accuracy and simplicity to use.
Seems to work as described. I’ve found studs, steels and electric cables with no problems. Annoying to have to calibrate each time it is switched on.
Works well, finding wires, studs etc under plasterboard. Some walls in my house have been recently plaster boarded, and I knew where the wires and pipes were. I can confirm they showed up correctly.
Seems to work well. Bit awkward to get used to at the start, but I think that is just because there are a few options. Have tried it on my own walls where I know there are wired and pipes and seems to do a good job.
My stud finder came via next day delivery and was extremely easy to set up and begin to use. After a few moments of placing it on the stud wall I was scanning, it soon found the studwork and I was confident when drilling the holes for the work I was doing.

OMG, this is my new toy, I measured every inch of my apartment not only for studs but also for cables.

I needed to find the studwork behind some painted plasterboard. Normally I would tap the wall at various places to find the studs by listening for the sound differences, but this time it just didn’t work. I ordered this Stud Finder Wall Scanner, followed the instructions to calibrate it against a part of the wall I knew did not have any studs behind it, then scanned across the wall. Found the studs perfectly, even enabled me to find the center of the studs. Really pleased and avoided making lots of little pilot holes to find them

This priduct is nastly cheap…not accurate. I am a trades man tried it for about 30mins. Decided to return it. You will be disappointed as it looks nothing like the quality product on picture. Not aure how it gots so many good reviews. Simply rubbish. Spend a bit more and get a quality product.
Recieved item today, bought as currently decorating living room and going to put TV onto a wall bracket. Really easy to get started instruction are in plain English, battery in good to go just remember you need to calibrate before you scan, good quality and very accurate as good as more expensive ones there are. Wish I had discovered this product years ago. I used it today to locate the wall studs when fixing a TV bracket.
It made the job so simple. The large TV needed a strong and secure fastening so finding the stud centres was essential. Similar tasks in the future will be much easier to complete.
This is a brilliant tool and definitely saves you making any mistakes. With so many different wall types in my house I found this has helped me get it right every time. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and it gets it right every time. Would definitely recommend
Accuracy isn’t 100% but accurate enough to avoid hitting wires or pipes. AC scanner starts to detect wires within 2 inches but can get the centre point there or thereabouts.
I found setting it to metal mode was easier for thick plasterboard walls by detecting the central stud on the wooden joists.
Overall top little product for the money
It only arrived this afternoon but has already been put to great use. I was struggling to find a batten to attach a TV mount to but this device made it so easy. After a few test runs to make sure I’d gotten my head around how it worked/registered ‘finds’ and having practiced on an exposed piece of wall it was off to the area of interest. The device found the battens at the first attempt, a quick double check it wasn’t anything metal or wiring, and it was out with the drill. It couldn’t have been any simpler – a must have for all budding DIYers!
Needing to screw down 5 rooms worth of floor boards I needed to check the position of the joists but more importantly any pipes and cables. I was nervous about relying on any scanner after reading a number of reviews on this type of equipment. But so far so good, it did what it says it does and yes it did pick up a pipe that shouldn’t have been there and saved me from screwing straight through. Take your time when calibrating but other than that no issues with it, only 1 more room to go so fingers crossed and hence the four stars for accuracy not five, trying not to tempt fate……..
Found the studs easily.could not find floor joists.easy to use and clear instructions.
The TH250 detects timber and metal studs, metal pipes, rebar etc and electric cables.
A few observations may be helpful when using it as follows:-
1) It’s very important to follow the user instructions exactly to avoid inconsistency of readings.
2) A period of familiarisation is helpful before using in earnest!
3) May be stating the obvious but worth keeping in mind that when scanning a wall or ceiling there could be absolutely anything present!
4) When scanning for timber studs, in addition to the vertical studs there may well be horizontal connecting timber.
5) Electric cables are only detected when live.
6) Multiple scans are advisable to confirm findings.
I’m on my 3rd stud finder. As others are flimsy and break being transported around job to job. This is by far the best I’ve had.

The product was perfect for what I needed! I used it to hang a TV onto a wall for the first time and it located the studs and all the electrical wires and each time i went back to it as i was originally sceptical it located at the exact same point. Helped me a lot!

I bought this tool as I use reclaimed wood for making furniture and knew that there were some screws that snapped when trying to remove them.
Screws will damage planer blades very easily and are not always easy to spot as you will see from the video.
You will also see from the video how well this tool works – along with the other functions which I have tested and played with makes this an unbelievable bargain.

Bought this as we are moving to a new house and the location of pipes and wires are all unknown. Works straight out of the box. The stud finder is the easiest to use as it guides you left and right. The metal finder also alerts you to electrical wiring. Supplied with a battery and easy to follow instructions.
This Wall Stud Finder gives me peace of mind when tackling DIY jobs around the house. The device is very responsive in all modes. My dislike is that the position of the scan button makes it easy to keep pressing it while actually scanning. Other than that I can find no faults with this device.
From a newbie perspective this is a good detector. I’ve successfully installed a curtain track in my ceiling safely with the help of this.
I practiced using this tool next to a plug socket to get a feel for how it worked (because plugs and their wiring are usually installed next to studs) and after getting a feel for it then used it on my ceiling to find where it was safe to drill.
If you’re into home DIY and want some confidence before drilling into your walls this is a bit of kit to have in your toolbox.
Always scared to drill through walls without knowing what is behind. After a near miss when replacing electrical shower, I started search for magic device seeing through walls. I found this, which is the best value against the most big brands, which are too expensive for an occasional DIYer. It arrived very quickly. The First impression wasn’t great, big and boring in black and silver plastic. The instruction was very detailed, in fact a bit over the top. I can’t wait to try it out. It wasn’t easy but soon I realised that if I followed the instruction carefully, it worked like a magic. Great. 100% accurate? I am not sure but I will trust it 70% which will give me enough confidence and help when drilling through walls. Bottom line is that a great value, down to earth device , which works.

As its my first time doing something like this its given me lots of confidence that I won’t mess this up and go through a wire or pipe.
Its a handy tool especially for finding stud walling support for making sure you are fixing into a solid part of dry walling. The electrical symbol comes up whatever mode you are working in, it says it flashes if it detects a open cable, I haven’t seen it flashing yet but may be I haven’t had any electrical cables near where I have used used it.
I was very sceptical about the performance of this detector due to its low cost. Thank goodness I had not offered to show my backside in a supermarket window if i was proved wrong. I tested the 3 different scanning modes on a wall where i knew the position of studs, cables and copper pipe. It detected them all with perfect accuracy first time. I only wish that I had owned this detector many years ago…..the number of cables and pipes I have damaged has cost me dearly!
This is an excellent piece of kit. I purchased it particularly to detect wiring. We have had our kitchen stripped out, plastered and completely rewired
I wanted to put a knife rack on the wall and needed to drill several holes near sockets. This device is absolutely brilliant. I had no problem detecting the wiring.
I have also tested this on a stud wall and it worked really well on wood and studs.
I recently move into a 100 year old house which was in need of renovation. As you can imagine tracing the wiring and batons was a problem.
I came across the Tavool 4 in 1 stud finder on the Amazon site and what a saviour it was. Simple to use, 5 star product at 4 star price. Highly recommended this product for time saving and piece of mind.
I bought this wall scanner mainly to find AC wires in walls to prevent me drilling into them by accident. It’s a simple to use scanner with several different modes, but remember to calibrate it before each use. Display is easy to read and includes warning sounds. A bonus is it includes the battery.
Only received this today and already used a couple of times to put up some shelves.
Purchased due to lining in a timber framed house with all plasterboard walls and wanted to pick up on some stud work for fixings. just a couple of minutes out of the box and was looking studs. Simple to use.

I am in the process of putting up a big TV on a wall bracket, and needed to find where to screw into wall. Tis was just what I needed, found them first time, TV up, great job!

I have just started using this device and really stunned by the accuracy of finding studs. Not used it for any other searches yet but sure it will be as accurate. Highly recommend.
It does okay. I have missed a couple beams using this but generally it is correct 80% of the time.
It does wood, electricity and metal but only one at a time so you have to do multiple scans to be absolutely sure there is nothing behind the wall. But overall it works well and is great value for money
Works out the box just put the battery in and turn it on then press it against wall and calibrate. Easy to use and accurate.
For some years I have struggled with my old Stanley stud finder to get accurate readings, so it was time for a new one. I bought this and, Wow! So easy to use and very accurate. I looked at many stud finders, 10 to 115 and thought at 20, I had nothing to lose if this was no better than what I had. What a great surprise to find I’d picked a winner. Professionals may find more expensive models provide greater accuracy (I will never know!). Certainly, for the price, this has to rank as one of my best buys.
Very happy with this stud finder and have no hesitation recommending it (to other DIY-ers).
We have a room that has significant wiring in the walls, which was put in prior to us moving in. We had a previus wire detector, but this was poor, as the walls are quite thick. hence the reason for buying equipment.
I have literally just received this and it worked great. identified all the options with ease and we now know what is below.
